UPDATE: The book with 1,000 autographs sold for US$6,000 (presumably plus BP). It was estimated between $6k-12k, so that's at the lowest estimate. It's a shame, given the amount of time, energy, and expense it would've taken to create. It's a terrific piece! Given the prices modern-day base-ballers charge at autograph signings, can you IMAGINE the cost of recreating this in 2024!? You'd have to charge tens of thousands of $$$. My father bought a collection of Mantle cards at a charity auction. His intent was to buy as an inheritance for my grandson. They were all reprints, and labeled as reprints, but he thought they were all originals.

12:37 this reminds me of a more extreme example highlighted by Chris in his latest high rollers video. It was a PSA 8.5 ‘52 Mantle selling for ~$1,000,000 more than a PSA 8 copy. I’m with you, give me a low-grade copy all day of the Jim Brown, which, oddly enough, is high on my list as a lifelong Browns fan. There are a few PSA 1s and 1.5s on eBay, all in the 450-600 range. I’m targeting one next year, hopefully 🙏🏼
In-house corporate attorneys, they are snakes in the purest sense of the word. They are there for some minimal compliance issues they tend to. But their main objective is trying to figure out how to manipulate the market - to see what they can get away with.
Topps could have easily edited the AI photos to correct the mistakes, but apparently didn't care enough to notice nor fix. Very sad situation for what we may see next from them with AI generated "art" on cards.

Listening to a podcast by Michael Lewis about sports gambling apps and how they prey on the gambling addicts. I think card companies are doing the same thing. Oh how card collecting has changed just in the past 5 years! Upper Deck Allure hockey has been doing the rainbow 🌈 color flow cards for three years now. It is a cool chase of cards and not hard to complete. Since you don’t pay attention to hockey, you might not have been aware. Great stuff as usual for keeping me updated on cool and ridiculousness in the hobby.
I feel like if you are selling on High Bid, you are most likely doing it to intentionally dupe people. If you are buying on high bid, you are hoping to find a steal on a platform that not many people know about. Me? If I’m paying more than $200 for a card, it’s going to be in person at a store or show. Never online (unless from Greg Morris or another reputable house)…even if it is a low pop card and there isn’t a way to get another. Thanks for the video!

Greatest pitching prospect since Stephen Strasburg but, sadly Strasburg's career was, cut short. There's always a risk, when it, it comes to prospecting. Even more so for pitchers Imo.
I made a similar reply just the other day to Chris Sewell's video where people were questioning if the half grade on a Mickey Mantle was worth ~$1 million more comparing a PSA 8 to a PSA 8.5. I'll restate the same thing here. Asking if a half grade is worth a certain amount of money, a large amount because you're asking, is the wrong way to look at it. It's out of context. What we need to be asking/comparing is the price of that half grade card in the grade below it and the grade above it and determine where it falls in that spectrum and if that is similar to how most half grades sell. Of course most regular Joe people would rather have the lower grade and the option of $200k or $1m or whatever when it's an obscene amount of money but again, that misses the actual point.

That means getting not only a PSA 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 for those cards but also the half grades. In this respect I've had a good look generally into the value of the half grade. My initial impression years ago when first noting the value of half grades is that they don't go for as much as I would have thought. (except for ridiculousness like Griffey Jr. '89 UD PSA 1.5s for eg lol)

Discovered a bizarre topps move from the past. No orel hershiser card in 99 despite 21 decisions for his only season on the giants in 98. Then in 2000 they have him on the dodgers despite 25 decisions for the Mets in 99. So if you want a topps giants or Mets hershiser card, they don't exist. And then in 2001, they have an archives reprint of the 2000 card. Why in the world are they reprinting a card from the previous year?
The Santa card aside, spending my entire career in IT, I think AI has its place. I liked the creation of the Beatles song - some didn't - but with the Beatles song I think it should be "once and done".
