    Hi Almondo. Who in the California area would you recommend is very good at working on a Revox b77? I have a high speed half track unit that works well in every area but will not go into record mode. Plays back prerecorded tape fine. Transport works great. I live in Northern Nevada but driving any distance to a qualified repair shop is not a problem for me.

      It was the pinch solenoid. It was not engaging correctly. I pulled it apart, cleaned it up properly ensuring that it is bone dry, and no oil or grease on it. I also adjusted the brakes, ensuring that they engaged at the same time. That's what I did to correct the problem. You should also post your questions on www.tapeheads.net. There all the experts will respond to you.

    Are the Capstan Speed Control PCB interchangeable between B77 mk2 & PR99 mk2 ? It appears there's many consistent internal logic design, no ?

    • @almandog
      @almandog  2 года назад

      There are so many different models of these decksc and PCB to match each. The capstan PCB might work, but I recommend that you look at the circuit diagram in both B77 And PR99 service manual. I also recommend that you post your question on tapeheads.net. Lots of tape techs are there and will provide answers.

    Are the PCB traces popping off the board easily ? Revox is known for very delicate PCB's. Which multimeter would you suggest with high impedance like a VTVM ?

    • @almandog
      @almandog  3 года назад

      Yes I experienced that issue on Revox A77. Those boards were in a bad shape from the start. I had to use solder and wire to bridge the PCB traces in several spots on the boards. You can't use too much heat on those boards.

    • @almandog
      @almandog  3 года назад

      I use Leader equipment mostly. I also have a Simpson voltmeter, but I hardly ever use it. I do not have a dedicated VTMV.
