    I've always hated the weird asymmetrical look, so what I ended up doing was getting the OEM rear brackets and two of the right-side saddlebags. if you switch the order of the little mounting bolts, you can mount a right-side saddlebag on the left side, so now I have two symmetrical bags. and honestly, I'm satisfied with that

      That’s a great idea!! Yeah, I’m not really a fan of the asymmetrical look either.

    Hi I just saw your video because I am currently making a side case system For the Rebel 500 using existing mounts from the Oem Pannier system, Anyway I am probably too late but if not definitely go with side cases the Shad sh23 seems to be the best way to go, it's pricey but it's built for it so plug and play. I do agree that the soft panniers form Honda are made with quality since they are made by sw motec, but they don't work for me especially for extended trips, since you can't lock them And as you mentioned, there never seems to be enough storage especially on the Rebel 500, Anyway I hope it wasn't too late , ride safe everyone. Good luck with your luggage.

      Thank you for your input and sharing your experience! I will have to take a look at the Shad Sh23 for sure and check it out. It would be nice if Honda had a locking option, but I guess that’s why they made the 1100 T??? Haha idk.

    I got the Honda saddle bags from the dealer and am blown away at the quality. They remove easily to take with you, have good quality sholderstraps if you want to use them. waterproof, rugged, double in size when they are unfolded. look great. so glad I went with genuine Honda

    I have a scout bobber (converted to rogue), I purchased the quick mount hard bags but they stuck so far out which bothered me and I ended up returning them. I ordered another set that do not have the quick mount system which allows them to sit closer to the fender. They arrive tomorrow. Hopefully I like them!

    i have viking bags on my 2019 rebel 500. they have a cut in them to avoid hitting the shocks. i suggest getting better bolts to attach the bags, one bolt broke, the bag was hanging down. i carry bungee cords just in case i buy something that won't fit in the bags. i was able to get the bike home, strapping the bag up with the rack on back. get some neoprene or rubber washers to help with vibration. mine are permanent, look good, very secure, i am the no rider either so rear seat not happening. and i hate riding with a back pack. these bags are leather covered, water resistant, key lockable. couldn't do without them now. motorcycle is my only transportation.

      That’s awesome, thank you for sharing your experience! Yeah, I think it will be a good idea to have some spare bolts and tools ready for a situation like that. I like the quick release system so that I can leave the bags at home if need be. Update coming soon!

    I’ve seen a lot of people using the Viking medium universal bag. It’s smaller than the shock cut out but looks nice on the bike

    • @evergreenmoto
      @evergreenmoto  Год назад

      Yeah, for sure. That’s not a bad option at all, and I think it works with the quick release system.
      I was worried that the shock cut out ones would look almost too big for the bike…

    Yo bro…. Went thru the same dilemma….. only one option u haven’t mention: use GIVI TS1194B back rest and u can attach waterproof mid side bag in the back and one book bag in the front….that way u won’t have ugly side bulk from the panniers and can carry passenger too if needed as long one of u carry the bookbag back…. The looks will grow on you……panniers look so ugly for bobbers bikes….don’t do it…..😮

    • @evergreenmoto
      @evergreenmoto  Год назад

      Hey, great suggestion! That would probably work really well actually.

    I actually made saddle bags using 30 cal ammo crates. I think they look good, especially cuz I had the same reservations about getting saddle bags like you did. After riding with them for a few weeks I’m starting to want MORE storage though… (total storage is about 7.5 liters). So now I’m on the same hunt to try to find something with more storage but still maintains that bobber look.

    • @evergreenmoto
      @evergreenmoto  Год назад +1

      Yeah, I looked into that, I thought it looked super cool! I just couldn’t find a good easy way to mount them, so that’s why I ultimately didn’t go with them. That and they didn’t fit my helmet visor. But they look super cool!
      Yeah for sure, not a ton of great options, but there are some good ones out there.
