Thank you, Mr. Gibbs. This was really good information. To your credit, you are the first person I've seen to discuss the value of both certifications, in addition to knowledge and soft skills, and how they can impact a career. Really appreciated.
It is our goal to provide a comprehensive perspective that not only highlights the technical aspects of these certifications but also emphasizes the broader skills that are essential for success in the IT industry. Soft skills such as communication, problem-solving, and adaptability are often what set professionals apart and enable them to leverage their technical knowledge effectively in real-world scenarios.
I got CISSP and TOGAF certified ast year. CISSP is one of the best certificates to undrestand what to do and why when it comes to security. Thanks for your video.
Congratulations on achieving your CISSP and TOGAF certifications! That is a significant accomplishment and a testament to your dedication to the fields of information security and enterprise architecture.
Amazing breakdown between the two certifications I really appreciate all of the work you do for people all over the world. I truly see how you want to change people lives, as you already have many times.
This is sent from God for me, I currently work as a presales consultant(thanks to GoCloud Careers) with an AWS partner organization. I have just started preparing for the CISSP and my COO asked about getting vouchers to help advance my AWS certifications which is currently the Solutions Architect associate. I thought of getting the Professional certification but with this presentation by Mike, I believe the security specialty should be the way to go right after the CISSP. Thanks Mike.
Thank you for sharing your journey! It is wonderful to hear that you’re finding value in the information provided and that you’re making strides in your career as a pre-sales consultant. Balancing certifications can indeed be strategic.
You should consider these certifications as complementary each other. I have both and I can assure you that CISSP is of utmost importance for a cybersecurity professional, because is a broader cert which encompasses numerous topics and areas in security, with a certain depth. On the other hand Security Specialty is essential for cloud security professionals, especially those who focus more on AWS workloads. If you are a non-native speaker (as me), consider that your preparation should take longer than for native speakers. So avoid trusting those click-bait videos from people passing the exam with one-week preparation. I hope have helped someone.
That’s a totally fine perspective I always viewed the CISSP as my introduction to Security The AWS certification could be helpful with technicians that are doing hands-on configuration. The real challenge is 98% of Enterprises are multi cloud Which means that only 2% of Enterprises could potentially use most of what’s discussed in the AWS and Security So it may be helpful for organizations working with very small single cloud environment Bigger organizations, they will be using more industrial tools. Whether they be next generation firewalls, industrial data, loss, prevention, tools, etc. That will mitigate most of the tools tied in the AWS advanced security specially. And any knowledge can always be beneficial. The question is, could the person spend their time learning something that’s higher value than the AWS security specialty? Could they be spending time on things which could deliver much more value and a higher salary in their career? For example, focusing on business acumen development can increase one’s salary by several hundred thousand dollars per year. So at the end of the day, it comes down to career goals On this channel, we focus on helping people achieve the most in their career There really is no such thing as a good certification or a bad certification It’s more about what gets the client to their goals fastest
Hi there thanks for your video, it was pretty detailed and it gives a good overview of those 2 certs. I have a question. I am in my 2nd year in cybersecurity, i transitioned into cybersec without a degree or any certification. I work as a WAF analyst primarily at the moment and have some knowledge in both red and blue team domains. Obviously i can't do CISSP as i dont have 5 years of experience, but what would you recommend that's similar to CISSP for someone like me who wants to learn more and also get more exposure and opportunities in my career? I feel like i NEED something because I don't have a bachelors degree and any certification at all. The Bachelors degree thing is not an option for me as its a lot of time and money (owing to banks) invested into something that I feel it's redundant at the moment, as I have already broken through cybersecurity (miraculously.. with a lot of prayer thanks to God) so i would prefer getting some quality certifications to help me advance in my career. Do you have any suggestions?
@@Vayanovic Hi. Do the CISSP or CCSP. You can take them without 5 years experience. When you pass the exam you are known as an Associate of the ISC2 which you can tell a prospective employer you passed the CISSP exam. I have had many people use this as their fist and only cybersecurity certification. They got excellent training for their career and also passed this exam and had great careers. You look even more impressive passing an exam that’s supposed to be “so hard” you need 5 years experience to pass.
True, there is no rule against doing both. However, if you have to pick one, CISSP is more universally valued and will give you broader career options. If Return on Investment - ROI is your priority, CISSP's wide recognition makes it a solid choice. You can still explore AWS later if you desire.
@GoCloudArchitects I'm currently working in GRC in cybersecurity space. I want to expand my knowledge to cloud security and engineering. I have the ability to get my CISSP for free through another veteran organization, but I don't have the 5 years required yet. I honestly felt it may not be necessary since I've gotten a lot of free certifications already. Now I might consider, thanks to this video.
