This is the first video where I've seen a Martin sound worse than a Taylor. But this is not a valid comparison. Those 15 series (low-end Martin) are usually quite warm and you make it sound stiff and tinny, and I've never seen a stiff and tinny D15..The Taylor is not a low-end one, and for your style it sounds better. You just need some more practice. Hold the pick near the point between you thumb and finger and at a very slight angle to the string, not completely parallel. Thanks for the video.
I'm sure both are fine, but to compare them, you should hear them live. Which sounds better? Depends whose ears. If everyone heard the same, we'd have just 1 guitar size with same wood. Thankfully, that's not the case.
the 2nd string on the martin's buzzing. after hearing the martin, the taylor sounds like it has a nasal congestion. both needs a deeper rosewood sounding bass..
Martin snobs , Martin snobs everywhere lol Just kidding, I find this comparison bad because the guitars are different in so many ways, made of different woods, different body size, yet the Taylor still sounds great flatpicked even though it's not a dreadnaught size, and guess what..if you play fingerstyle, the Taylor would respond so nicely, wheareas the Martin wouldn't (due to the body size) That's my opinion, I think this comparison shouldn't be made...two completely different guitars...
Don't know the model. Played a buddy's and several at guitar center. I know they're not cheaply put together, but to me they FEEL cheaply put together because they feel like featherweights. I'm used to an old Guild and to Martins, which feel heavier.
Martin is far superior to Taylor. This video does not present a fair comparison. Taylor is much too bright tonally, whereas Martin strikes the perfect balance with just enough bass.
Honestly they sound pretty much the same--buzzy--no real clarity--and the tune is just not helping. Need to play something so the listener can hear individual notes.

combine the deep tones with a martin, and the treble of a taylor and the world guitar problems would be solved
Taylor & Martin together! James Taylor playing a Martin....there ya go

Got the Martin today!!!
One down... One to go!
I know what you mean, then. They don't feel like they should cost what they cost.

cheaply put together? what taylor are you playing??
speed up the soundtrack it will sound like a good get-away song!
These guitars need to be PLAYED though to really bring out their sound.
couldn't agree more. Taylors sound tinny, and they even feel cheaply put together.

i want them both =)
Taylor is an ok guitar depending on what you're doing, but it's weak. Martin will always be better.
