I love you for not feeding into the "warning" hype and calling it like you see it. Honestly, if it weren't for you reassuring me about SV I might have let commenters worry me out of using it. Awesome video as usual ;)
it's like people who won't try on clothes they're not sure about. if you put it on and you don't like it it doesn't become hermetically sealed to your body. i'm so in love with seche vite. i'm out at the moment and it's driving me crazy! it lets me do my nails before i go to bed and not wake up with "waffle nails" great video marnie. thanks for taking the time to share. love the fluro pinks!
I completely agree with u on the whole Seche Vite top coat thing. I Love it and will continue using it. Ive tried other top coats and nothing compares.
Oh I could not live without seche vite - used it for years and still only have one head! And from California. The color you're wearing reminds me of the great color by Butter London - No More Waity Katie. Great name. Running out today to get a couple of these for my toes including Teenage Dream. Perfect timing. Thank you Ms Gold Girl.
I love all the colors you picked Marnie! Your collection looks a lot like mine and I do have several of the same ones. The SH Pacific Blue is amazing!! I'm so glad you addressed the top coat thing. I get so tired of hearing about it. They warn against everything in CA, in CA I dont think they can even mow their yards! Thanks for taking the time to share your favorites with us!! Peg~
@ispeakczech All I did was follow the directions on the eyeshadow-literally. It says "lid" on one color, so that's where I put it, then "crease", "definer", etc. Those WnW 8 pans are very easy to use!
@theniteowl9 I've heard that the Zoya nail polish remover takes off glitter polish very easily, but I don't know from personal experience. There is some technique involving aluminum foil-you'll have to Google it to find out what it is exactly.
Great choices!! Revlon's Plum Seduction is a GORGEOUS plummy-pink, you'd like it. But my favorite polishes are the Rimmel 'cause of the wide brush and easy application - all their colors are fantastic. Re. seche vitte, it's my FAVORITE top coat for all the reasons you mentioned. It does peel but I change out my polish almost daily so no biggie, it's totally worth it!
Finally, a voice of reason. I live in California and have always wondered if there are companies that make packaging with the warning just for our state, and the other states' packaging has no warning at all. Seche Vite just happens to have a standard packaging for every state, making others aware of the warning. I bet a lot of people freaking out over Seche Vite continue to consume Diet Coke and the like and ignore the insane amount of aspartame warnings. (I do it, too!)
One of my favorite colors, which isn't a summer color per se but I always get compliments whenever I wear it--(and one of my friends says so does she) is: Orly's Prince Charming
LOOOL!!! I already knew I was going to love this just cause it was about polish (Hi- my name is Sherry and I am a polish-aholic - there.. I said it!!) but my FAVOURITE part is your seche vite rant! MY FEELINGS exactly...!!! everytime I would read an anti Seche Vite thing I would roll my eyes and puh-lease it all out! LOL.. THANKYOU for saying it like it is....
Love the colors you picked to share with us. I personally have tried (as a base coat) China Glaze Strong Adhesion basecoat. Love it, it's $ friendly and it lasted almost 10 days without chips and I use my hands a lot in the library. You might pick some of that up sometime and give it a try. I am a BIG fan of Seche Vite too. The first time I used it I was amazed at how soon my nails were dry. Thanks Marnie!
So interesting about the Seche Vite warning signs being all around Cali. Thanks for that info! The smell still puts me off but I've come to like it, especially on my toes where it prolongs the wear of my polish significantly (let alone the amazing shine).
Awesome collection... Im also a polish junkie...I love fun colors like yours...LMAO at the Texas boy story! 4 Seche Vite backups jst in case I run out! Yaaay! :)
Hey Marnie, I just love Seche Vite! I've tried other top coats but keep coming back to Seche Vite! I'm too busy during the day so the only chance I get is at night about an hour or so before bed & I never wake up with sheet marks! For me, Seche Vite adds a brilliant shine and keeps my polish from chipping! I change my polish often because I like to not because I have to. I also spray a nail polish dryer (in red can from Sally's Beauty supply--like $3) ~xoxo Melody
Thanks Marnie. You so funny! ;D My fav at the moment is OPI Bright LIghts Big Color. LOVE IT! Teenage Dream is a wonderful NP! My granddaughter comes over and everytime Gramma, can we polish nails? Of course, go look in Gramma's stash and pick what you want. Everytime it's Teenage Dream for her topcoat. She loves it and I'm looking forward to my other granddaughter coming in June to discover it. :) I luv the way they look at it on their nails like they are mesmerized! LOL! KP did great! ;)
I don't use that top coat because of the warning, but I live in California. We have that warning on everything including knick knacks made with metal, parking garages, fast food restaurants, and my favorite the door to the hospital. California likes to think of ourselves as doing things first. I guess that means we have to do a lot of crazy things that no one else will ever do!!!
AMEN! Thank you for that... I hate when people tell me i'll get cancer because of my topcoat; it's ridiculous! I just recently bought the seche base coat and ridge filler and i have fallen in love with it.. it fills all the ridges and gives a blank slate. Let me know if you try it and like it!
Do you ever find that your nail color peels off when you use the Seche Vite? I started using the Sally Hansen top coat (in the red bottle). It works like Seche Vite, but I have noticed less peeling and popping off of the nail color.
I love your videos and am so glad I subscribed. You are just so "normal". California even has that warning when you buy a Dooney&Bourke pocketbook. Something about the dye used..........geez!
@stephhopelupus I just picked up a base coat called Instant Artificials at Sally's and so far I like it. It's supposed to build strength, so we'll see.
I have mellow yellow on right now and my daughter was like is that mustard on your nails....Mom? LOL It bright but I do like something about it. Yes I'm with you on the pastel yellow all the way. I need to pick that one up myself. So pretty. Oh and LOL at the seche Vit OMG i have used this for years now and I used it during two pregnancy's and my babies are healthy and smart and beautiful. I'm from cali and you're right about those bogus warning signs everywhere lol it's ridiculous! lol
Try Duri Rejuvecote for a base coat....I have peeling nails and I have tried every base coat strengthener out there......this one really works. You can get it online. Also, do you use any other color under your OPI Teenage Dream or do you use it by itself?
have you tried to put your top coat in the fridge? and have you tried the basecoat opi ridge filler? i wanna try it but they are like 30 usd in sweden :(
If you like really pretty summer blues which I saw you had blues up you should try "Blue Me Away" by sally hansen xtreme wear it is such a beautiful summer blue you can add to a collection. I wear it on my toes and nails what I usually do for my nails since it is a bright blue is I bought a crackle by sally hansen which works great for me and I paint it over the blue so it peaks trough which I think is fun for summer!! I will have to pick up a couple you mentioned Great Video!!!!
Ran into H-E-B today and found the new Wet N Wild nailpolishes. I only grabbed one. It is Atlantis which is a version of Katy Perry's teenage dream. It's really pink and sparkley. Going back tomorrow for the other ones without my husband.
my fav. polish right now is wet n wild (limited editon) waves of enchantment. its gorgeous and its the first polish i might actually use up. !! if u see it grab it! xoxox lexi
P2 Stormy looks a bit like Moon Over Mumbai by OPI - not sure if it's a dupe or not as I don't have the P2, but thought I'd throw it out there as a reference since P2's not readily available.
Hey Marnie! Thanks for shring your faves. OPI Teenage Dreams is gorgeous however when I painted my nails and I used the Seche Vite topcoat, it chipped by the 2nd day! The Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Strobelite lasted for more than 6 days! I was very disappointed. Maybe the OPI will fare better on my toes. The Revlon nail polish you mentioned is Revlon's Blue Lagoon. Ali from Makeupby Alli recommended it. BTW, she is aawesome, always learn new techniques from her. XO
I love Thimbleberry and Scandal from SinfulColors! Both pinks - my husband even commented on them and he never does. Also check out the summer 2011 Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure line - I just picked up Barracuda, a soft blue. So pretty! They've got a mango one that looked fun... I picked up the latest yellow one but on me it has a green slant to the yellow somehow (not noticeable in the bottle just on my skin) so I'm not really wearing it. I'm going 2 look 4 the Sinful yellow u hv!
Wow, so funny cuz I had red nail polish on my nails last week and I was like.... This just doesn't look right. I try it on my toes and still, it doesn't look right. I feel old in red nail polish. Isn't that weird? Loving your vids.
Hi Marnie, I lust wanted to let you know that I think you look even prettier than usual in this video - you always look lovely, but you look gorgeous here. Random question from a previous video... what eye make up remover do you use? It sounds like you need to change! The Boots no7 one gets rid of everything. Can you get it in the US or would you like me to send it to you? Oh, one more thing! I finally found the HC Glamouflage from an American site, so I'm just waiting for it to arrive! x
Re: your Seche Vite blurb - the reason it gets goopy fast is because it's fast drying - so it's literally drying out as you use it. Kind of the nature of the beast. Also, don't put acetone/np remover in your nail polish....you will ruin it. You can get nail polish thinner at Sally's Beauty Supply...it's cheap and it works. Add about a dropper full to your 1/2 used seche, and it will be as good as new! :)
@ammurati I think maybe it's the OPI that chipped and not the Seche Vite. I've noticed whenever I use OPI (I have about 40) that my polish chips in a couple of days! But if I use Orly, Essie, China Glaze or Sally Hansen my nail polish doesn't chip right away! I use the same top coat and always use the Seche Vite. The only difference is OPI!! It's weird cause OPI is supposed to be the best. Try Seche Vite again with a different polish and see if it works for you :) (OPI will be ok on your toes)
@FeyCreationsSalon No, you can come to California--I live on the Central Coast (near Santa Barbara) and we don't have all those stupid signs everywhere! We will welcome you with open arms...nothing to be afraid of---and great wine country!!! :)
@lmmbchampion You know OPI's Tennage Dreams is the only one that has chipped that fast on me and I own more than 40. Essie is the worst on my hands. On the toes Essie lasts a long time. SO I am thinking, at least for me, that it has something to do with the formulation of Teenage Dreams (ie the heavy glitter) Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear lasts on my hands the longest out of all the nailpolishes I have. I hope you have granddaughters too and even more, daughters-in-law that you can be friends with! :D
Love your make-up. The light coloured nail polishes are fun for spring and summer!! Enjoy all your videos.
LOL I love your imitation of those gardeners!
I love you for not feeding into the "warning" hype and calling it like you see it. Honestly, if it weren't for you reassuring me about SV I might have let commenters worry me out of using it. Awesome video as usual ;)
Yay! Thought I was the only one who doesn't like red nail polish. Nice to know I'm not alone.
it's like people who won't try on clothes they're not sure about. if you put it on and you don't like it it doesn't become hermetically sealed to your body. i'm so in love with seche vite. i'm out at the moment and it's driving me crazy! it lets me do my nails before i go to bed and not wake up with "waffle nails" great video marnie. thanks for taking the time to share. love the fluro pinks!
These colors look like they'd be awesome with your coloring.
The 3 Texan boys story is priceless! I loved it!
I completely agree with u on the whole Seche Vite top coat thing. I Love it and will continue using it. Ive tried other top coats and nothing compares.
Oh I could not live without seche vite - used it for years and still only have one head! And from California. Lovely Spring/Summer Nail overview! The polish I've been liking is OPI's "Up Front & Personal." I also really like China Glaze's "For Audrey."
Peg~
Snappy Sorbet is one of my favorites too!
I love your background, such beautiful colors. ♥
@ispeakczech All I did was follow the directions on the eyeshadow-literally. It says "lid" on one color, so that's where I put it, then "crease", "definer", etc. Those WnW 8 pans are very easy to use!
@lmmbchampion We were talking about checking out SB this summer-recommend any good resorts?
@lmmbchampion I'll have to go check that out-what sort of color is it?
@JessicaVful It's mostly carried at spas/salons. Google the brand name and you can find a list of locations where it's sold.
@librogeek The bird clock is in the game room upstairs, so if you listen closely, it will still show up once in awhile in a video. :)
Pretty colors. I have many of the same ones....which are also my faves. Thanks for sharing :)
~twyla
@xoxoLeony I did notice, and I love it!
One of my favorite colors, which isn't a summer color per se but I always get compliments whenever I wear it--(and one of my friends says so does she) is: Orly's Prince Charming
@littlehammer05 Thank you-you too!
i have unicorn and its one of my fav summer colors
@MizPromiscuousity Good point-didn't think of that!
LOOOL!!! I already knew I was going to love this just cause it was about polish (Hi- my name is Sherry and I am a polish-aholic - there.. I said it!!) but my FAVOURITE part is your seche vite rant! @Biffn3ss I have never noticed that. I've used the Sally Hansen red as well, but I still like the SV better.
Great colors! For strenghtener you can try the Mavala one (in a little bottle -very effective)!
Thanks for sharing! You must try the new sally hansen crackel polish. So fun! Lots of colors to pick from, at Walgreens.
I need to try more sinful colors. Im wearing lacy lilac by Sally Hanson love it
@IzaBeautyful It's in salons. Just google it and you'll find a place to get it near you.
You should definitely pick up Van D'Go.. I have it on my toes and fingers right now.. such a gorgeous color! Love your picks.
Thanks Marnie. You so funny! ;D My fav at the moment is OPI Bright LIghts Big Color. LOVE IT! Teenage Dream is a wonderful NP! My granddaughter comes over and everytime Gramma, can we polish nails? @sassie08 I've used it by itself and layered over Fairy Lights by Butter London. If I use it by itself I do three coats.
Great picks! :-)
You go girl, bedazzling cowboys! LOL
TY
@ammurati That is weird-I had the opposite experience! I love MakeupByAlli, too!
I don't use that top coat because of the warning, but I live in California. We have that warning on everything including knick knacks made with metal, parking garages, fast food restaurants, and my favorite the door to the hospital. @Maurie58 I think we need to bring back "skeeze"...it's a classic!
@SuperGoodgirl77 Wow-that's a good recommendation if it can hold up in the library!
I love your videos and am so glad I subscribed. You are just so "normal". California even has that warning when you buy a Dooney&Bourke pocketbook. Something about the dye used..........geez!

Good morning 🌞
P2 Stormy looks a bit like Moon Over Mumbai by OPI - not sure if it's a dupe or not as I don't have the P2, but thought I'd throw it out there as a reference since P2's not readily available.
@LizKS48 I'm in no hurry to get there, but I sure hope I get a granddaughter (or two) one day to play makeup with !

@Stef6788 That was the best comment! :)
@FeyCreationsSalon No, you can come to California--I live on the Central Coast (near Santa Barbara) and we don't have all those stupid signs everywhere! We will welcome you with open arms...nothing to be afraid of---and great wine country!!! :)
Where is spa ritual sold?
@sassie08 Do it!! So pretty!
@singingislove121 I love Walmart!

@leighannsays Thanks, Leigh Ann! Don't believe the hype! :)
@Maurie58 Remember, this is a state that elected Schwarzenegger!
@22whim LOL!!!
Oh yes and in case you didn't notice: I love commenting while watching the video ;)
@leesatron OMgosh, I couldn't have said it better, myself! (I also live it CA)
lol im wearing sinful colors mint apple right now.
@kitina11454 I guess you have an excuse for not doing the laundry now!
@MsGoldgirl I have 3 granddaughters, a daughter and a daughter-in-law so lots of estrogen in our homes. :) It's so fun to have granddaughters who love to do makeup and pawdish as the youngest one calls it. I hope you have granddaughters too and even more, daughters-in-law that you can be friends with! :D
@BeautyBee29 Love your daughter's remark! Out of the mouths of babes! :)
