First I listened to the Fresh Air 2018 interview with Michael Pollan. Now I am reading his book. Fascinating. My initial thought is that these drugs may never be widely used in the future -- because most people are only interested in psychedelic drugs for recreational use or oblivion. Among all the people I know, only a small fraction have the intellectual or spiritual capacity to pursue any type of transcendent non-dual awareness using these drugs.
@@JulioMeza right here, after reading it, it made me very eager to go back to school and pursue an education that can hopefully work my way up into psychedelic therapy.
Spoke with Bob recently during the 2022 Horizons Northwest conference. We talked about the Psilocybin Services Program that’s being structured by the OHA(Oregon Health Authority). We both agree that without FDA approval it will be hard to create “legitimized”, liability based insurance covered treatments. This part is critical yet anytime you start asking the FDA for something the result you may want may not be the one you get.
Just discovered you. Thanks so much for the many insightful presentations you've posted. The significance of entheogens to human understanding & growth cannot be overstated.
Brilliantly presented and highly interesting talk. Really good that this sort of serious research is being done somewhere. Comforting as well for those responsible psychedelic users to know they are not alone in their interest and personal development.
+Zambia -- there is an easy answer to your question. Most people are incapable of listening to anything other than entertainment news, celebrity gossip or sports reporting.
In a nut shell, he's saying the science being done today is precisely aligned with the view on the major religions known by many great sages, scholars, scientists, mystics, philosophers, and theologians as the Perennial philosophy.
+Jose -- you may benefit from hearing the "Fresh Air" program from 2018. Terry Gross interviewed Michael Pollan on the subject of his book "How to Change Your Mind." Pollan covers some of the same issues that Robert Jesse does in this video, but you would likely find Pollan much more digestible. Robert Jesse has a background in science and engineering and speaks in a manner that probably puts off many people who are not technically oriented. I hope that you find something that will give you better insights into the subject matter.
How to change your mind brought me here. Who else?
