Nice that Mio think for guide, also they can laugh it off now but it may happen if they careless. 3 japanese girls with limited english on unknown land, better safe than sorry.
How many stories of international tourists being kidnapped in Las Vegas have you ever seen? Get a grip. It's preposterous. It's one of the most popular tourist destinations on the planet. It is not dangerous whatsoever. This is just conservative anti-city nonsense.
It's slightly better now because of resorts world and fountain Bleu. 10 to 15 years ago that area was sketchy as f. I always enjoyed jogging from Mandalay bay to Fremont when I lived there but late night or early morning I was definitely alert at all times around strat.
Good idea with the guide. Most people in Las Vegas at any given time don't even live there. Any passerby they might rely on may very well be another tourist.
With a smartphone, map app, and better understanding of English, probably. But probably worse understanding of Japanese. The language barrier, imo, would be the main reason they may not be helpful. Not the tourist aspect.
Very similar to the scene in Gundam IBO where a sheltered girl visits the slums for the very first time and realises just how different things really are outside the safe bubble
Good on the guide for being honest. Situational awareness is something that everyone should have, and young, foreign, first-timers in Las Vegas probably would be easy targets. I lived and worked in a dangerous city in the US for over a decade, so I learned to be wary. 3 people were gunned down in front of my house in as many years, and I once had to chase a robber out of my house with an axe. I've also been to places like Tangier, Guatemala City, Panama City, and Rio de Janeiro. No one ever bothered me (people in Guatemala and Rio were actually really nice) when I was abroad, but I kept my eyes open.
To be fair, to have the same inflection and tone when giving radically different information can be unnerving, but you can induce panic if you freak people out with your tone too. 🤔
The nonchalant way the guides said that may just have driven in the point even harder. And they were right to warn them, because there are dark corners in any Western city where even a buff guy with martial arts training and an iron on his waistband shouldn't walk alone, let alone three young good-looking sheltered Japanese girls.
@@Jordan-RamsesOut of sight, out of mind, right? I mean, let's not even take into account that an average guy ain't exactly the usual target for human traffickers. Nooooo problems at all.

As someone who lives in Maine, I can't really imagine that happening to THREE girls walking together here, during the day. In almost any place. Although, if it was only one of them, MAYBE two... or if it was night... yeah, maybe. That kind of stuff probably even happens here. I don't here about it often, but I think I'd be more surprised if it didn't than if it did.
That's because you live in Maine. This unfortunately is a very common occurrence in Vegas as it's a huge tourist city with a lot of poverty beyond the "strip".
Regardless, think it's better to scare foreigners, especially naive ones who don't speak the language, rather than let them take any risks. Stay in tourist areas unless you're with a local and your issues will be minor at most.
Agreed. Thank you. I work in Downtown Seattle. When I go take the trash out at work there are people doing Fentanyl in the alley. I never actually had any problems.
I just hope the guides didn't take them through West Vegas. Knowing how my relatives in the area, they say you better be packing if you have to go through there.
I have a hard time believing how unprepared the girls were for the trip.... it's like, really? Perhaps it's better that they don't know and get well assisted throughout, or else they'd never even consider making the trip. And this is the US we're talking about... hope none of them ever considers going to more dangerous countries. xD Or they go with a full motorcade... xD Defeats the purpose I guess. xD

Yes, the guide's tone is to not let the tourists have any "funny" idea and have bad things happen to them.
