I think I’ve done this for a long time but didn’t realize it was called “steam of consciousness” writing. I think being less judgmental and more compassionate towards myself is what writing has helped me realize in general. It’s very powerful! Thanks for sharing!!
Your videos got me into stream of consciousness writing. Over several years of journaling this way, I’ve gotten better and better at letting it all out on the page. I write ugly things. I write things I wouldn’t want anyone to ever read just because I can. It’s been freeing. I am such a guarded person. My journal is the one place I feel safe to let all my thoughts out. Thank you so much for this channel
I'm using stream of consciousness writing in my current journal and I'm so glad you made a new video about it, Tina! I definitely agree with "It's about the process and not about the product.". Just the act of writing without an actual destination at a coffee shop or in my room but could actually lead you to a great conclusion makes me feel happy.
I like going outside alone but i don't know what to do all by myself. Thanks for the idea. Writing while enjoying your favourite dessert in some cafe, sounds so good.
I use this in my Morning Pages, which I've been doing for almost 100 days straight now (at 98 tomorrow!) and love it. It just gets all the gunk out. I do it when I first wake up, I don't even get out of bed for it, but just let it rip on the page, using a pen that just glides over the page, never lifting it up and just writing, writing, writing. Sometimes there's a lot of 'bladiblahhh' or 'not much more to say' but then as if by magic, there's more. I never re-read, to be honest, my handwriting because of the way I am doing it is so bad that I have trouble deciphering what I wrote anyway, but it feels good to let it all out.
I love this idea of a dialogue with your self editor! I'm definitely going to try this ! Lately I've been putting a lot of disclaimers in my journals, explaining myself for the way I feel, it's really weird... It's not like anyone will ever read my journals... I don't understand why I keep doing this. So I think a little conversation with my self editor could bring some stuff to the surface ! Thank you for this!🧡
I love your channel so much and am so glad you “came back”. Journaling means so much to me and your ideas and encouragement remind me of why I love it so much while inspiring me to think of other ways to journal. TYFS!!!
Stream of consciousness writing is appealing for its freedom. Complete freedom of expression. Its why writers like jack kerouac like to get drunk or get high, And then write cuz he just writes whatever on his head. Faulkner is my inspiration for stream of consciousness. He is able to write some beautiful stuff while still seem sophisticated and profound.
This is really interesting. I thought I had an idea of stream of conciousness writing, but you explained it a little different. This reminds me of the "ecriture automatique" that the french Surrealists used to practice. I often struggle with this because my thoughts aren't verbal most of the times - maybe I have to start with stream of conciousness doodles.
Oh wow I’m SO curious about trying the left side edit yourself/right side stream of conscious tip but for the same exact entry! I feel like that specific tip really gets to the root of “rehearsal for reality” because it would be a clear way to see even how you’re editing an entry (editing yourself just for your own eyes only!) vs. being raw and authentic and messy. And I’m sure we’d see a big difference between the two sides, and so if we edit ourselves that much for our own selves…how much must we edit ourselves in front of others…? I’m so excited to try this!
Hi there! In your last video, you were talking about your favorite pen being a Zebra, and I was wondering if you have the link to the pen you were using? Thanks!
I really would love to try this type of writing but I feel like I am not doing it rightly coz sometimes I just think about whether I wrote something sensible or not sometime I feel like I am running out of thoughts. This month I will try morning pages once I wake up .
Stream of conscious writing doesn't seem to work for me. It's immensely useful when I wish to just non sensically blurt out my emotions. However, it doesn't help me get much of a clarity since I'm unable to reach to any conclusions. Ahh idk, it's just not the style for me. Mind maps are my type I guess. Love you and your videos so much tho 🌈
Thank you so much I've been struggling lately because I keep ripping the pages of my journal because I keep hating the things the real things I've been saying this help a lot

This is my favorite way of writing/journaling. I’m quickly realizing that even the “ramblings” hold secret messages. ♥️
That's so true ! I love reading my ramblings after some time
Well, i just realized that i only write in this way hahah
Haha same, this is pretty much the nature of the undercurrent from which all of my writing stems from.
Me too. True diary writing for me.

I love the left side vs right side suggestion

And here I am thinking “isn’t that how everyone else journals?”

Love this kind of writing! It’s my favorite! 🖤

Oops, turns out this is how I've been journaling most of my life. I just thought that was... what journaling was. Lol
Thank you so much I've been struggling lately because I keep ripping the pages of my journal because I keep hating the things the real things I've been saying this help a lot
