Saline flushes in the light plastic ARE NOT STERILE, at least here in the United States, just and FYI. I know this isn't a real insertion, so they may have just been used for this video.
Depends on what you use. THEY ARE STERILE in the UK. The inside of the packet is sterile and they've opened it up as such. It's likely a posiflush which is definitely sterile as per the manufacturer when opened correctly onto a sterile field as in this video. None issue here. Good work @Royal Berks NHS
I assisted some residents in the Emergency Room at my hospital with the insertion of a CVC insertion. I DID NOT TOUCH THE CATHETER OR NEEDLE, JUST THE PATIENT! But it was a very cool experience.
Edwards life sciences do not recommend priming the line while under pressure. They suggest prime without pressure and when air removed, inflate pressure bag to 300mmHg
Guidewire embolism is not caused by guidewires getting "sucked" into patients. No need to hold the guidewire unless sliding a needle out, a dilator in/out or catheter in.
I hope the patient did not feel anything procedure is complicated and requires expertise to avoid any complications what is the purpose of this lrocedure
Prolonged period of antibiotic treatment, parenteral nutrition, tissue irritants such as norepinephrine and so on. In the ICU, central lines are Gods gift. These patients needs lots and lots of medication, fluids, blood component etc. Peripheral lines most often won't do.
I've commented elsewhere. They are sterile in the UK. There's no contamination. It's likely a Posiflush which is sterile as per the manufacturer and is safe for use on a sterile field. No oops, they've done a good job
Zero comments in the video about the fact that the anaesthetics are almost useless and that the patient will be feeling a tremendous amount of pain and possibly on the verge of panic.
Often times patients are given Valium to act as anti anxiety drug and calm the nerves before/ during procedure. Other than the initial needle injection, the lidocaine will numb everything and the patient will feel very little in the area
My surgeon said he will let me choose to be knocked out or not I’m having mine done July 3rd and I will be opting to be knocked out because my nerves would not allow this at all 😂😅
@@burrows4726 No it's bad. I just had one a month ago and it was easily the most traumatic medical procedure I've eve had (And I've had 2 c-sections). Everyone or every country don’t pronounce words the same way so what’s funny? You’re just exposing your intolerance of other people’s cultural differences. I take it you’re American.
The head down position is Trendelenburg position and not Reverse Trendelenburg.
Did that man turn into a mannequin?
Yes 💀
Yes, they plasti-dipped him!
Oh my gosh, a mannequin
😂😂😂😂

BIND US TOGETHER LORD WITH CHORDS THAT CAN'T BE BROKEN DOWN INTO
Injecting local into the vein isn’t a big deal, not at the dose and amount in a cvc tray. Anesthesia gives lidocaine iv all the time before induction.
i had that when I was battling leukemia
Those saline syringes are in a plastic but they are not sterile syringes - oops. Just contaminated your sterile field

No. Eyes are blinking

Don't we need to use heparin to flush the CVP prior to insertion??
