South Wales Mainline Modern (Part 2) | First Looks | Class 800 AP Enhanced | Train Sim Classic

Hello and welcome back to another episode of Train Sim Classic!
We're back on the South Wales Mainline Modern route today where we're going to be continuing our journey from Swansea to Bristol Parkway. In this video we're going to be driving our 9 car class 800 IET between Bridgend and Cardiff Central.
This portion of the route is a little bit shorter, however in the next episode we'll drive the slightly longer distance between Cardiff Central and Bristol Parkway.

That line at Waun-Gron Park goes as far as Radyr and is a loop from Coryton. I would love to see that in a game!

Joe, The GWR Class 800s actually got uprated a little bit after the 802s were introduced iirc, so only the non-GWR 800s are weaker in diesel mode!
Not certain about the time this change was made, but GWR 800s are as powerful as 802s now. Unsure if TSC / AP simulate this change though.
When in electric mode, IETs brake by using the motors as generators (think along the lines of rheostatic braking), however when in diesel mode or when below 20mph, they use the standard wheel brakes. I presume the speed set cant brake in diesel mode because it can only control the motors not the physical brakes.
