Thank you for all your kind comments. Such a long time ago now since we shot the film. I am just so amazed and touched that such a tiny film could reach out and touch the emtions of so many. I am very humbled to know that I played a small part in something that gave you joy. Sean Bury
I regret that I've never seen the movie *"Friends".* I do love Sir Elton John. I've been listening to his music on and off since I was a boy. My favourites are his lesser known songs, songs you don't hear over the radio.
Saw it in the theater on a first date as a 16 year old, and bought the soundtrack. It will always always be close to my heart even after all these years. A lovely film about young love and societal issues of class status..
Don't know if you're still alive? But this movie came at puberty forr me, my first kiss too. I couldn't see it at the time but I played the album most every night. Definitely an important artwork in my life.
When I was 13 or 14 years old I use to listen to this soundtrack. While listening to it I would get lost in the thought of meeting someone that I could share every detail of my hopes and dreams with. Reading other posts its seems like a lot of people discovered the album around the same age. I miss the innocence and dreams of my youth but when I hear these song like Friends, Seasons and Michelle's Song, those feeling all come back.
This song withoubt a doubt, presents the best vocals of Elton, from any other........Listen with quality headphones...........Thee best.......(-:)) Next best is Michels Song.....
In October of 1970, I received orders to the U.S. Naval Base at Guantanamo, Cuba. I missed Vietnam in country. I was 21 and just broke up with my fiancée of 3 years. I was there until December of 1971. It was isolated duty for 14 months. We got movies in about once a month and i will never forget when we got this film and soundtrack. We must have watched Friends 20 times while we had it. not only did it mend a broken heart but its calming effect has lasted me a lifetime. "I meant to do my work today, but a brown bird sang in an apple tree" There isn't a week that goes by that I don't listen to parts of this soundtrack. It still has the same calming effect. I am 74 now and meet my wife a few years after I came home. We have been together for 51 years now. The Circle turns, the seasons change. Friends
Timeless and hauntingly beautiful. We walked down the aisle 46 years ago to the theme, "Friends", and the words remain so true. Today is our anniversary, February 17th, 2022. "Seasons" is all the more poignant now.
Wow, what an influence this album had on me when I was 14, or so, back in the mid 70's. Funny thing though, I still enjoy the album equally as much when I lisen to it today. The music is pure, naive, innocent, and beautiful. And without question, the music was perfect for the movie. This may sound strange but, I think this album is some of Elton's best work. At least I think so anyway.
This was the soundtrack to my relationship with my first love. We were both Elton John fanatics and so young when we fell in love... to this day I cannot listen to the album without thinking of him and getting all choked up. It's weird, but I know that I still love him after all these years. This music brings it right up to the surface.
As much of an Elton John fan that I am, yesterday, on a rerun of the Wonder Years was the first time this song was heard by me. The song and the video has rekindled the love of my wife. We have been married for 35 years. Bruce
It is winter now in 2019...in the Pacific Northwest it's rainy (duh) but, the other day when it was sunny and clear, I could look out my window and see the Olympic Mountains full of snow. I was born and raised in Illinois but I am so glad I moved to Washington State. I love this little space I live in, with a window that looks out over the west and the blessing to be able to see those mountains. I hope and pray, any of you reading this will take a breath, look around, find some small thing that makes you smile...makes you take a deep breath and dance....dance cuz you are alive, able, and can look forward to sunsets and sunrises. To all of you who are challenged, can't move, see, hear, smell, my silent prayer for you all is you know you have angels and love surrounding you....embrace THAT and let all of the other stuff go to God....yeah, I know, I sound like a bible thumping whatever....but I know KNOW this to be true...HE IS THERE...HE HEARS, SEES, KNOWS...and just ask...just sit down, close your eyes and ask...he may or may not answer how you want or wish for but...ask...and keep your eyes, ears, and heart open...you may be surprised with the answers. LOVE YOU ALL....please take care....hugs all around
Another Pacific Northwesterner. I was born and raised in Washington. I grew up listening to pretty much every genre of music one could listen to. Among my favourite singers growing up was Elton John.
I live in North Carolina and 2019 was the last time I was in the PNW. It's beautiful out there. I've visited 5 times over the years. Done many hikes at Mt. Rainier, St Helens, Hood and Adams. I wish I lived out there.
I personally have always loved this album...especially this song! Have been an Elton fan since I heard "Madman". The songs of my youth...I toast my Geritol to all who have been on the journey...and to those who are just discovering "the path".....Rock Hard and Stay Strong....Cheers
This is truly amazing!! For so many years...this album/movie, has been in my soul. Now I find, that there's definitely a few, (and possibly many more) who share and enjoy it's sentiment as much as I. This is most definitely...more than a coincidence. There must have been something within that time, that was magical - with this movie being some of the stardust that brought it to life, and has kept it...from what it appears...too be timeless.
My children heard this song many times as they were growing up; we had the soundtrack on vinyl, tape & CD, and we have the movie. My husband & I saw it in the theater on one of our first dates as starry-eyed teenagers, so it's very special to us. Our daughter fell in love with this song, as well, and chose it and Canon in D as her two processional songs when she was married in 2009 (she never liked the wedding march). It's wonderful to know beautiful music doesn't have to skip a generation.
The best 4 minutes of my day right here. I bought this album many years ago actually had the 8 track, then bought the vinyl some time later. It was & still is a beautiful piece of music, it has some flavors of Thomas Newman's music in the beginning. It is true young lovers do start out as "Friends". Though made in 1971 it still affects you and reaches your heart. Listen to this with the one you love, put it on and just close your eyes, let it flow through you and you will feel closer. Peace 2 ya
I was watching the Wonder Years the other night and this song came on at the end. I was like that sounds like Elton. I had never heard this before but I absolutely love it. Thank you for posting it with such great pictures as well. My best, Layne
I've never forgotten this movie. I saw it with my best friend. We were about 10 & I haven't seen her for about 35 years. Ellen F. if you see this post, I've never forgotten our friendship and wish you the very best in life. LOL
I am the same way about this soundtrack-and bought one through ebay, as mine had been kept in a hot garage too long. Magical video, isn't it? And the music, well, for a lot of Elton's songs, I feel he has been one of our most precious treasures during this time on earth. Thank you, Elton, for sharing your wondrous talent and beautiful music with us!
I saw this movie when it first came out back in 1971 I was with my younger brother and his then girl friend and now his wife. I accomppanied Kim's sister who has now passed. The movie had great music and was placed in a beautiful country setting in the English country side.
I was 15 then, never saw the movie. I have the album that I still cherish. I remember the poem now "I meant to do my work today"......I need to get the cd as I don't have a good audible turntable. Thank you. Such wonderful simple times. 1971......
This album informed most of 1971 for me. It was the beginning of my future marriage and motherhood and I can't help but feel a tug of the heart when I hear it.
Cold snowy nights in Port Ewen NY,astonishing sunsets up at the Ashokan Reservoir or all night parties overseas in BKK! This miraculous composition has always been a favorite of mine since I first heard over 35 years ago. Whether polishing off many green bottles,or making small green buds disappear or perhaps brushing the long dark hair of an amazing goddess or simply absorbing life in general I will never stop loving the masterpiece known as the FRIENDS soundtrack! THX 4 postin this gem!
I bought this album when I was in college. (Album: it reveals how old I am.) I've listened to it literally hundreds and hundreds of times. It's absolutely beautiful. It brings back tons of great memories. And I'd LOVE to have those days back again.
This beautiful song brings back so many memories of my innocent youth and the anticipation of my first love, my first kiss. That young girl was full of hopes and dreams for her future, but things sure did turn out differently than I imagined they would. *sigh* I guess that happens to all of us. Most of us never live the life we dreamed of in our youth. :(
If only Elton could have maintained this emotional, intimate style. it runs so deep and has effected many people obviously, in the right way, the real way. What happened Elton? I miss this emotive surge that captured me.
It would've become really boring if Elton did maintain this style for the next 40 YEARS or so! He has shown a much larger musical agenda than this as wonderful as the song and arrangement is. A modern take on an intimate style would be a song like 'Whispers' from the 'Sleeping With The Past' album, for example.
Kandelise Kandle I have to disagree with you there. To have kept writing songs like this could never have become boring. The world can never have too many perfect songs. I have been listening to the old classic Elton John and Bernie Taupin songs since I was a very young lad and as W.W has said above, they are "deep, real, emotional and intimate". This has only become more so throughout the years. As for the new stuff, some of it is okay but most of it is mediocre and forgetable. It lacks the soul and truth of the early stuff. And now his voice is shot as well whereas the young Elton could sing like an angel.
Thank you Futsoc for taking the time to write to me. Your kind words will stay with me always. May your life be full of love and just some of your dreams come true. Sean
Elton was a big influence of mine growing up. The whole album takes me back to a time in my life that defines my innocence which is something that we never get back.
This album is his best work. what emotions it can bring out. any time I want to just sit back and remember. The music in this album can bring up so much. Seasons, what music! Friends album cover. love it. This is and will always be my all time favorite.
I Love this Song the 1st time I heard it(1971)! And, I Love it More b'cos I like Anicee Alvina so Much... so Sad she's not with us anymore... and Thanks to Sean Bury, also...
Thank you, Sir Elton John, for creating some of the best music anywhere. I'll probably die listening to your music. I'd be a happy man if I did. Between the pictures and the song, both make for a beautiful video. Thanks for posting. 🥲
Brings me back to my youth. I miss it, I miss believing in Santa Claus, miss all the schoolmates I have lost track of. Remembering Robert Frost, I have tried to travel the path less taken and it has made all the difference.Dreams have turned to memories.
+goodthing52 Sounds familiair. I'm getting old too...I'm so sad looking back that childhood and youth are behind me...gosh,,,,wished I could turn back time
you touched many hearts, inpired many dreams and reminded us of the glorious beauty of innoncence...of innocent love! These have remained with me for ever...and will carry me on beyond!! You brought life to my soul, to my dreams...God bless you , and you!
Looking at all this beauty, I find it hard to believe humanity has destroyed this earth. The photos here with human presence is in harmony with nature.
The album- and movie- were released just as Elton was becoming famous- and most of his best-known work was still ahead. I have to agree that this was one of his best- and Seasons is my favorite song from the album-wow- does this bring back the memories!
Thank you everyone for your ratings - this beautiful song is now back to it's much deserved 5 star! Wishing all it's viewers a wonderful holiday season, filled with much love, good friends and holiday cheer!
A beautiful song that I remember from the 70's and haven't heard in years. The slideshow is very fitting to the music. Seasons now brings tears to my eyes as I struggle with love lost.
i have the record album, i was 18 when i saw this at the movies in key west florida, amazing, hearing it all again grabs my heart still:) i loved it then and i love it now, i just downloaded mp3's of it from amazon to share it with my family:) and FRIENDS:) God bless the gorgeous artists who make our souls fly and feel so much:)
This movie made such an impression on me in '71, as a very young man. I searched for it years later to find it on VHS, and finally did. I also have the old vinyl soundtrack bought immediately after seeing the film. Great job on the slide show!
Great line. I notice more and more people claim how this album takes them back in time. Today's music simply doesn't do that. Most of it's garbage sold to make a quick buck. The "Friends" album has an almost eternal quality to it. You can't help but go back there from time to time.
I was the same age as " Kevin " on " The Wonder Years " , i was even in love with a girl in my street who was the spitting image of " Winnie " I got her a ring and everything...but she didn't feel the same. That was 20 years ago and this song brought back all those shit feelings i took so long to bury. Beautiful song but it will always be a sore point for me
Davy Hardin me too. I was 15 he was 18. I didn't know what the hell love was. He broke up with me when I reached 17. 17. Dam dude you didn't give me a chance to even grow up.how was I supposed to know every dam thing. I was your first girl friend but you left me for another girl who was 18 and would have sex with you. Man you crushed me.
What can I say about Sir Elton John??? He was and still is a wonderful singer / writer / composer whom I will NEVER EVER get tired of listen to... God Bless Elton John and "Bloomingproud" THANK YOU for such a wonderful video! Just amazing!!!
Thank You for sharing, brings back beautiful memories from another time... "For our world, the circle turns again Throughout the year we've seen the seasons change It's meant a lot to me to start anew Oh the winter's cold but I'm so warm with you Out there there's not a sound to be heard And the seasons seem to sleep upon their words As the waters freeze up with the summer's end Oh it's funny how young lovers start as friends Yes it's funny how young lovers start as friends"
I saw the movie when I was stationed in Germany. Movie was great, and so was the music. I bought the album when it became available and still have it to this day. Thanks for posting it, and the pics are great too. Keep up the good work.
A great piece of music. I never saw the movie, but I had the soundtrack in vinyl form and loved this piece, along with Michelle's Song, and Friends. MS and Friends are very underated Taupin/Elton John songs. Another I'd highly recommend is "Indian Sunset" off the Madman Across the Water album. The song is nothing short of brilliant.
Fun fact, Aire: Bernie Taupin wrote the marvelous “ Michelle song” before he read the script (!) So I think the script was tweaked to include those horses..filmed in France.
Thank you for all your kind comments. Such a long time ago now since we shot the film. I am just so amazed and touched that such a tiny film could reach out and touch the emtions of so many. I am very humbled to know that I played a small part in something that gave you joy. Sean Bury
Thank you for your comment. Yes, it was impactful on me as a teen.
I regret that I've never seen the movie *"Friends".* I do love Sir Elton John. I've been listening to his music on and off since I was a boy. My favourites are his lesser known songs, songs you don't hear over the radio.
Your contribution to this film will never be forgotten , you played a large not small part ,

It's funny how young lovers start as friends. I loved this movie back in the 1970s. I wish I could find a complete version of it.

It was his best work because he was uncorrupted by money.

I totally agree - it's one of Elton's masterpieces. I still cry through it - got it when I was 14, too!

This song stirs such a longing in my soul to go back to simple times. I LOVE the entire album and remember playing it over and over.
After all these years this song never fails to bring out the emotions in me, i have and always will love Eltons early music!!!!

God Bless and I'm sorry for your loss.
Still absolutely beautiful! I still have the album, and I treasure it.
Treasure it always
Nearly fifty years ago... still can't forget her. What a time. What a love. What a girl.
Oh that Paul Buckmaster, what a talent and such a great creative partner to Elton. Incredible
I was watching the Wonder Years the other night and this song came on at the end. I was like that sounds like Elton. I had never heard this before but I absolutely love it. Thank you for posting it with such great pictures as well.

I also heard this song from watching the wonder years! Great tv show with amazing actors and music
I remember this from the Wonder Years. :)

its sad how fast life just floats by and we never ever have friends like we did back in our youth....time was magical then.
Saw the movie. Found the soundtrack album years later. Beautiful song. Wishing I had the movie to watch. Thank you for sharing this video/song

How wonderful to hear that again...
There is nothing better than this.
The song, the film...just touches something deep inside of me. Wonderful video. Thank you for sharing.
I want this song played at my funeral--as well as "High Flying Bird"--another great Elton John song. The man is a musical genius.
My 40th anniversary will be in December! "Ain't it funny how young lovers start as friends."
thank you for this!! How I loved this movie in my youth and still do!
Loved the movie and your youth...both wonderful

Gracias desde México por esta hermosa canción del gran Elton John. Paz y amor.
Not sure how I stumbled upon this years after it's release, but this remains one of my favorite EJ/BT creations. Thank you for sharing.

Been married 45 years to my high school sweetheart ,both big Elton John fans, and this is our song!!!!
The album- and movie- were released just as Elton was becoming famous- and most of his best-known work was still ahead. I have to agree that this was one of his best- and Seasons is my favorite song from the album-wow- does this bring back the memories!
One of the greatest sound tracks of all time!
This song, album reminds me of a better time, in the 70's, when I played this alot. Finally recently downloaded the movie from Amazon. Nice film.
Thank you everyone for your ratings - this beautiful song is now back to it's much deserved 5 star! Wishing all it's viewers a wonderful holiday season, filled with much love, good friends and holiday cheer!
I still love the soothing images set to a hauntingly beautiful tune!
Exceptionally beautiful. ⚘️
A beautiful song that I remember from the 70's and haven't heard in years. The slideshow is very fitting to the music. Seasons now brings tears to my eyes as I struggle with love lost.
Stunning video with beautiful music...always loved this album!!
Memories of youth and days of life gone by...
i have the record album, i was 18 when i saw this at the movies in key west florida, amazing, hearing it all again grabs my heart still:) i loved it then and i love it now, i just downloaded mp3's of it from amazon to share it with my family:) and FRIENDS:) God bless the gorgeous artists who make our souls fly and feel so much:)
Elton John is a treasure. What a career he's having!
I keep playing it over and over again.
Absolutely Beautiful
Thank you Sir Elton. Your music has been the soundtrack of my life.
I love this movie and your video is absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for posting this. It brings back bittersweet memories.
Thank you for this elton .sean .anicee alvina are the best .❤👏👌
nancy, thanks for the lyrics. simple but stirring.
well done...this music is amazing...
I would love to see this beautiful movie again. Elton John's soundtrack.....so pure.
hello Lee, my friend..you sang this to me long, long ago and you have remained in my heart.
soul stirring soundtrack and movie
This movie made such an impression on me in '71, as a very young man. I searched for it years later to find it on VHS, and finally did. I also have the old vinyl soundtrack bought immediately after seeing the film. Great job on the slide show!
Lovely, lovely, lovely. Maybe there's hope.
Maybe it actually is that simple.
Great line. I notice more and more people claim how this album takes them back in time. Today's music simply doesn't do that. Most of it's garbage sold to make a quick buck. The "Friends" album has an almost eternal quality to it. You can't help but go back there from time to time.
this is such a beautiful song I bought this album way back when it first came out
Did you just say 'came out'? Exquisite piece of music. So very innocent.
Amigos e amantes, historia linda, marcou minha adolescência
I was the same age as " Kevin " on " The Wonder Years " , i was even in love with a girl in my street who was the spitting image of " Winnie "
I got her a ring and everything...but she didn't feel the same.
That was 20 years ago and this song brought back all those shit feelings i took so long to bury.
Beautiful song but it will always be a sore point for me
Shane Barker she just wanted to be friends
i was Ser Jorah Mormont before he was lol
Do you still miss her or think about her at times?
Are you still in touch with her? Do you know how she's doing in her life at present?
Shane Barker brings back a shitty memory for me too. Screw the past.
Thank you very much. I saw some clips on RUclips. Looks so beautiful.
What can I say about Sir Elton John??? He was and still is a wonderful singer / writer / composer whom I will NEVER EVER get tired of listen to...
God Bless Elton John and "Bloomingproud" THANK YOU for such a wonderful video!
Just amazing!!!
Started as friends then lovers...nice movie back then...but michelle song...and friends are my fave..
Thank You for sharing, brings back beautiful memories from another time...
"For our world, the circle turns again
Throughout the year we've seen the seasons change
It's meant a lot to me to start anew
Oh the winter's cold but I'm so warm with you
Out there there's not a sound to be heard
And the seasons seem to sleep upon their words
As the waters freeze up with the summer's end
Oh it's funny how young lovers start as friends
Yes it's funny how young lovers start as friends"
This song reminds me of who I am as a person. A lover and a dreamer
Thank you David!! Never heard this before. What an exceptional song and the music is most definitely something else. Love it much💖💖💖
Nice Classical music that lulls one to peaceful thoughts. The Changing Seasons come to life.
Lively like spring, warm like summer, colorful like autumn and fascinating like winter. This piece of musik is just beautiful.
I saw the movie when I was stationed in Germany. Movie was great, and so was the music. I bought the album when it became available and still have it to this day. Thanks for posting it, and the pics are great too. Keep up the good work.
Takes me back t my youth. My dreams are memories nowadays. Every minute counts in this life
What a wonderful world....It's a wonderful life.
yes, so wonderful
Thanks! The photograph of Maroon Bells has reminded me of my old days in Colorado.
I have always loved this album! Wish I could see the film just once!
Still listening and loving forever
