The sweet spot in the Giulia lineup is the Ti Sport. I've had mine for 30K miles and the sport seats, cold aluminum paddles, LSD and adaptive suspension are all magical. I adds a two year lease with the same TI with all options including the adaptive cruise control. Miles better than the BMW Mercedes or Audi. Only issue is the dealership experience and getting it serviced at Dodge keep dealerships, it needs to be serviced at Maserati dealerships or else it will never win. It feels like it’s just one interior upgrade away from being the best of all. Unfortunately it probably will die due to poor sales

      @1970borntorun 3 года назад +21

Please !! BMW hasn't made a "special" 3 Series since the E90 era! From the F30 era forward, Bimmer has completely ruined the steering/road feel by moving to an Electric Rack ( much like Infinity did with the Q50 ) and the Chassis dynamics are not buttoned down like like the E90, or better yet, the E46. And not to nitpick, but the interior bits are plasticky and like something you'd find on a KIA Forte. And this is coming from a (former) BMW enthusiast. BMW obviously cares more about Marketing and making $ than the Driving experience.

Looking at the 330i in here, I suspect it has the Sports Package for one. It used to be that that extending part on the front of the bottom seat cushion was the giveaway clue for sport seats. Add in some luxury packs or conveience packs and it starts to climb. I think you even pay more for colors other than a few basic non-metallic. Not trying to be critical of the brand. '23 Giulia Estrema here. LSD, carbon trim and adaptive suspension in Alfa Rosso. I cross shopped with the M340i, S4 and C43. Still went with the 4 cylinder. I took my car in for regular maintenance yesterday and booked some test drives with neighouring BMW, Lexus and Audi dealers, as my lease will be up next year. Test drove an M440i (no M340i available), Audi S5 and RCF coupe just to see what the V8 was like.
The M440i felt very fast, much faster than the Alfa. But I didn't feel like I was really interacting or engaged with the car at the same level. The RCF was just hilarious, big and heavy, but the V8 sounded amazing. The Audi had the best interior, and was also fast but driving was meh.
So in the end I drove a few hours back home, on a beautiful country road and am still very happy with my choice. The Alfa mechanic said it best, "It's like that perfect pair of jeans that just fits right."

I got the blue G70 and love it. Yes, it felt like a bit of a gamble going with the new kid on the block, especially from a resale value perspective. But I'm confident that issue will dissipate over the next few years as the brand gains awareness, and I see Genesis doing the right things in that regard (e.g., sponsoring fancy golf tournaments). They won me over with head-turning design & performance, a really long warranty and service offer and 0.9% financing. The only other trade-off I'd mention is the dealership experience. Instead of having dedicated showrooms, like most luxury brands, Genesis cars are sold at Hyundai dealerships, at least in my area. Where I bought mine, they set up a Genesis "desk" in the corner of the regular Hyundai showroom. So the Genesis shopping experience felt rather shoestring compared to the white-glove bubbles of its rivals. Here too, I think that things will improve quickly. It seems clear now that the brand has gotten off the ground in the US market, so I expect dealers will quickly invest in separate brick and mortar and the viruous cycle can continue.

@@mapletree4283 It's as if instead of actually understanding what I previously typed you choose instead t have taken things personally and that has clouded your judgment. Also you know next to nothing about the modern automotive industry. Oh and I have driven stinger's and the G80 and 2019 G70. The real question is have you driven a proper modern sport's saloon(trick question because very few that a true saloon exist today and instead we get G70's, Pseudo BMW's that have strayed so far away from their original mission statement, etc..). See I ask this because based on your comments it's rather evident you lack experience. Besides you don't even want a true Saloon. You want Luxury with above average sport(nothing wrong with that). The problem here is you and I belong to two different demographic's. I own the 85K Quadrifoglio and Kia has nothing that can even remotely touch such an advanced platform and yet you call ALFA lazy. In fact the Giorgio platform is considered by many enthusiast's and journalists in the industry to be one of the best platform's ever made in the past 10 years under 100K. The Giulia TI is a severely cut down version of the Quadrifoglio in order to make it affordable and does not represent it's true capabilities and even then it's still the absolute best in class for driving dynamics and even KIA's most advanced platform that isn't even a year old still falls short of FIAT's 6 year platform.
You understand FIAT since the 60's has owned and operated Ferrari. That this Platform and Car was designed by Ferrari's top engineers. The Giorgio Platform cost a Whooping $4 billion to develop and they did all this in 2.5 years. Platform as advanced as this usually take 4-5 years such as BMW, Audi and Merc. That is a monumental achievement but then again it did cost $4 billion and they had take away for 2 years some of the most talented engineers at Ferrari for this. Yet you claim FIAT lags behind KIA who can't even touch a 6 year old platform. Even BMW publicly congratulated ALFA for there Gorgio platform and said they will easily get 10 years before even considering designing a new one. That was how impressed BMW was when the Giulia was unveiled.
We won't even get into engines since we all know KIA is outclassed easily. You call Alfa lazy and yet they have one of the best V6 biTurbo engines ever made. It outclasses AMG's engine(was even 5 years ahead) and it better since it's a Ferrari 154 derived engine(meaning the base foundation so it's design was built on the 154 architecture) with an additional $200,000,000 in development to further refine the engine for it's design goal. Oh and why is it that large majority of Stinger owners have debadge their vehicle. They're ashamed of the brand name. Now this may be shocking to you but I love KIA/Hyundai as a brand. I just take issue when you think that they are ahead when it comes to building a proper sport's saloon. The German's and Italians dominate that segment and if FIAT didn't have ownership/Control(public now) than the Italians wouldn't have a top tier sports saloon. If my budget was $50k tops I would go with KIA over all the German brands and ALFA. The TI is a great vehicle but it's not the original design and intention of what the engineers built which is the Quadrifoglio. The KIA IMHO is the better buy for the average consumer since they favor interior comfort and modern gadget over performance. However when one has more money to play with KIA is no longer an option for me

I got a Giulia Sprint 2021MY. it is supposed to be the "base", but with a couple of nice options is absolutely a blast. I traded my Stinger GT2 for the Giulia !! Stinger 365hp was unable to do what this 280hp Giulia can do. Although it was AWD and had all the electronic, I never felt "safe" driving close to the limit. Stinger platform is not Alfa Romeo Giorgio. Genesis is the same story.
Yes, I do not have shift pads BUT I feel a great retro feeling when I manually shift with the shift "stick". I drove sticks all my life, so for me moving my hand to the stick to operate comes normal. Pads are beautiful, are not game changers. IMPORTANT: the gearbox in the Giulia is a TRUE manual - you shift and you hit the limiter. Can't talk for the BMW, but the gearbox in the Genesis is like the Stinger, it will upshift or downshift for you or negate you to do so, it's a "fake" manual mode.
Bottom line? once you drive a Giulia, you will never go back... and.. then you will trade your Giulia in the future for a used .... QUADRIFOGLIO :)

My folks had a 2012 F series 328i that they drove up until last year when they traded it on a 2019 330i. Having driven the 2012 quite a bit I was amazed at how much better the new G series car is. It's quick, extremely quiet, very comfortable, well built and efficient in most circumstances. Talk about a generational leap!

If they brought the Giulia Ti Sport with the upgraded seats, paddle shifters, Q2 pack it would be #1 for both. Sucks they got a base press car instead. The only thing the BMW does better than the Alfa based on my test drives was it had better tech inside and it seemed to me for my driving position that it had better backseat room. I ended up getting the Alfa for most of the reasons they laid out. The driving experience is just better and you can tell immediately.

I rented a bmw 330i last weekend and it changed my mind about getting one, the bounce mentioned around 11:30 and the way the car feels like it's in control and doesnt need you is super accurate. It does what it's supposed to but it doesn't feel like you're in control. The bounce when you accelerate is not smooth and makes the drive not very enjoyable. I rented a Q50 not long ago too and had it for a few days, I'd even prefer that over a BMW from these two experiences. Only thing is infiniti's feel a little behind tech wise.

Got my G70 3 months ago after comparing these 3 (and a few others), no regrets. 3.3L twin-turbo, AWD w/ rear limited-slip. Feels a little heavy (all-season tires don't help) but more grip than expected, tons of power and just a great cruiser. Beautiful white interior that feels much more special than the others. And buttons! Plus got it for much cheaper than the other options and reliability has shown these to be above average. Plus maintenance costs are closer to Kia than BMW, so even better! So sad it's not selling well...

I have a bit of insight on this one since I have a 2020 330i and my wife has a 2021 G70 AWD 3.3T Sport. They're both great cars, make no mistake. The comment about the BMW riding worse than the G70 is because the 330i in the video has the M-Sport package which stiffens the suspension significantly. My wife's G70 is the Sport trim like the one in this video which has the upgraded suspension and lower profile tires and it rides much more firm and stiff than my 330i that does not have the M-Sport package. Without the M-Sport package the 330i is quite luxurious and is the better daily driver of the two. For kick you in the pants speed and handling we take out the G70. For runs to dinner and the pet store we take the 330i. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either.

I don't know what they're talking about with the brakes on the Alfa. I live in LA and drive in traffic all the time and don't have any issues with my modulating my brakes, confused. I've driven the new BMW 330i and I've had three previous generations, I really don't know what these guys are talking about. It's simply not an exciting car to drive anymore. It's sanitized, a digital car for a digital age. The suspension is soft and it has no personality. It's like driving a toyota. The Alfa is like what the 3-series used to be like. Every time I get into it, it's fun to drive. I just don't agree with this at all that somehow the BMW should still be at the top of the heap anymore. It's simply not. I guess these guys have never driven an older one.

Maybe I just have a weirdly shaped ass, but I never understood why people thought BMW had "the best seats in class." I always thought they were super stiff and uncomfortable, being only marginally better than the TLX's.
Regardless, for me it's the Giulia Ti Sport, no contest. Superbly comfortable seats coupled with the best handling car I've driven this side of Porsche.

For all of you in 2022, I have bought myself a 12,000km 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Base model, and I modded the exhuast and the intake w/ a phase 2 tune. It makes the same power as the Genesis and makes it much more enjoyable to drive. You can get the paddles for $200 and install it yourself. I bought it for $40k CAD and it was absolutely worth every penny. I can't help but smile everytime I drive it. The fact that you can feel nervous and know that you're driving a car that no one else has for another 15 miles is the absolute best. It's definitely a teenager's car, I'm 21, which should makes sense why I gave up my 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe Ultimate Calligraphy for this beautiful italian masterpiece
