Hi Chuck. Great video. I was on the wait list for this radio and now have it in my shack. Originally, I was going to put it in my truck but like it so much decided to keep it inside. Don't think the wife will approve a second one since the only drawback is the cost. The audio is wonderful. I use RT Systems to program it. Would like a lightweight headset with push to talk like I have for my HT but haven't found one that is compatible. Keep up the great videos, always look forward to them. John N6NRO

Thanks John, the more I use this the more I like it. I haven't done much with it but plan to.

I like this radio. Way off subject but this body size looks like the perfect size for the upgraded 891 HF radio when it finally comes out🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿

Good run through of the radio Chuck, very helpful to see the features of this sweet radio. :)

So Yaesu put that huge knob on the front of the radio (which makes it so you have less screen area). Yet I never saw the 'Knob' used... I may have missed that part of the video. But still, what's the reason for the big knob?

Can I listen to the "Digities" without having to give them my address? They seem to have no communication boundaries.

Definitely my next radio! I have the 2980 but I need a dual band radio and this looks like a winner

I own an FTM-500 and an FTM-300. One thing I want to mention is, do NOT use the longer black cable on the FTM-500.
While visiting a group page on FB for the FTM-500, someone was asking for help with a problem they were having which
the radio would jump around on frequencies (wouldn't hold the frequencies that were set on the display), and also, in my
case, I was getting very bad bursts of static. A couple people responded by suggesting to replace the long black cable
with a CAT 5 or 6 between the radio and the control head. I tried this and it worked great. I have NOT had any of those
problems since I replaced the cable.

Tell me you are not using a Harley dealership pen for your stylus on the FTM500 ;-) 73

The blank data position on the base is because they used the same case as the 300, but it's not required as firmware updates will be done via sd card.
