Honestly, Leslie’s calm reaction to the intruder might’ve been the safest. Who knows, if she yelled the maniac could’ve gone into fight mode instead of flight and tried to stop her from alerting everyone. Very glad she’s safe.
as someone who found you and the roomies through foolish, i want to say thank you for housing my streamer and welcoming him into the group with open arms! its created so many wonderful moments that i love to go back and watch. AND i now have so many more streamers i get to watch!! love you leslie and im looking forward to see how the new neighbors arc goes!!!
me too lmaoo, I discovered otv, the roomies, miskif, and soo many more content creators from foolish and im so glad they welcomed foolish and treated him so well! jeez im gonna miss them
It’s crazy to me cause I never liked watching streams before Rae in like 2020. It just happens she had move to RUclips and I was coming back from an over seas operation in Australia during the first couple stream. Before then I the only streams I would watch were lcs because I thought twitch was predatory and the ads and streamers were so weird or boring. Rae got me to watch sykkuno/toast/corpse from there the flood gates opened
like taylor swift said, "the end of a decade, but the start of an age" !!!! I'm not sad that it's over, i'm excited for whatever's next!! The neighbors era begins!!!!!
her reaction to that man being in her room is absurd.. please please call the police and make a report! IM so happy it was a one off :( so so fortunate
Ellum's egg story really is a culture shock when you realize a lot of other countries don't store their eggs in the fridge! I went to Mexico a few times and that was wild to find out shopping at a grocery store. 😅Ya I'll say it the US is weird. 😂
In the US, to reduce the risk of salmonella infection, eggs are washed and sprayed with a chemical sanitiser before they are sold to the public. In the UK we don't do this so we have no need to refrigerate them.
i just put them in the fridge because i have no space anywhere else tbh, theyre always sold on shelves and not refrigerated. i thought it was like this everywhere and that some people just chose to refrigerate them
@@inepthabit I had a feeling after I posted this I was going to get this comment. I just didn't know what to call it. 🤷♀ but now I know! thanks for the heads up!
@@ianreid5266 Hmm, interesting! So, does that mean in other countries they don't use as many chemicals? Might explain why many people have food allergies here in the US. Maybe? Unfortunately, I'm one of those people. 🙋♀
If I don't remember wrong the reason Americans put eggs in the fridge is because of the way they clean them, they wash them in mass when it comes to large distributors so the natural protective coating is washed off so they do need to put them in the fridge, but it's only in America I think, haven't seen it anywhere else But if I'm wrong do let me know 👍🏻
There are others places that do it as well. I think it is mostly a Europe thing. Because I think Japan and other countries also put them in the fridge. But this is true, because they are washed, we have to put them in the fridge if you get them at a store, but many people have their own eggs now, especially in southern states. However I've spoken to people in the UK before about it and our eggs still tend to keep much longer in the US than UK.
I just recently heard this about eggs, but yeah in the uk its totally normal to just leave them out or have them in a pantry, but in america they wash the egg before packing or something, which removes a coating that protects against bacteria and stuff so they have to be put in the fridge!
it's cause american food standards are lower, so they have to machine wash the eggs for salmonella. so they no longer can naturally keep at room temperature, hence them putting them in the fridge
Actually eggs are only refrigerated in the US, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and parts of Scandinavia. The rest of the 190~ countries don't refrigerate cause the eggs are sold with their protective coating. I don't know if there's any benefit to washing their natural coating off other than aesthetic
I lived in a hostel while prep ing for an exam. It was all boys. We werent allowed to to use phones or acces the internet ( cus we were there to study yk), but we found ways to do so and all we wud do was listen to songs. We stayed up all night listening to each others favourite songs. Now every time i listen to those songs i remember them. We slept in others room together. Like it was a single bed but 7 or 8 people just bought their beds to the room and slept. We snuck out and bought ramen and made it and ate it at 3 am cus the hostel food was shit😅. We were all together one time in the roof because we were looking for shooting stars. Theres so much more. Living with people helped get rid of my social anxiety too. It was awesome. Good luck to u guys:)
I'm going to miss seeing you guys pop in each other's streams so much but I'm still excited to see how it works out in the future!! wishing the best for you all !!
end of roomies, the start of neighbours. wonder if we would be seeing recording of foolish yellin for leslie from the block away "fuslie! my mouse isn't working! can you come over?!" xD
"Ugh, I did steal a horse." LOL Oh Ellum, American eggs are washed and thus need refrigeration because they no longer have the protective bloom. This is why they are sold in the refrigerated section of the supermarkets. British eggs are okay to remain outside of the fridge and are sold as such but will last longer if they are refrigerated and this is recommended if they are not to be consumed quickly.
Yeah i also did found out only last year about USA eggs are not safe to be stored at room temperature. In my country the eggs are fine in room temperature even for as long as a week.
It's like watching the Friends series, a great and fun group of good friends doing what they like and just being themselves. So please more content like this in the neighbors era. ❤
i like how emily almost tried to end their friendships with the ranking questions then fixed with the last one LMAO (gonna miss this era the most!! roomies forever!! ;-;
I'll miss the random Roomies moments so much. How they just pop in to each other's streams, You hear Rae screaming or Nabi bawking in the background, Everyone running to Leslie for tech stuff...It's the end of an era but a start of another 🥹
Hearing Leslie's story about the creepy man the thought that came to my mind is that the dude had been doing it regularly and been entering through her room into the house. The dude probably realized that she sleeps early and been using it to his advantage. It's because that particular night she had been awake when the dude was entering that she caught him.
12:00 yeah American Eggs needs to be refrigerated because they are different than the UK (I think that's where Ellum is from) I think American eggs doesn't have a protection layer due to stuff lol
In the US, there are regulations in place that require all eggs to be washed. Washing the eggs removes the protective bloom that normally covers the surface. Without that bloom, the semipermeable eggshell is more susceptible to spoilage, hence the need for refrigeration.
12:17 I actually got chickens recently, so i know the reasoning! Fresh eggs have this bloom kinda coating around them, which protects eggs for 2-3 weeks unrefrigerated. If you put them in the fridge though, i think they can last for 1-2 months i think i read? BUT! store-bought eggs might not have this protective bloom coating, so its better to keep them in the fridge so they last as long as possible. This has been your infodump about eggs. thank you.
The home invader was probably just looking for stuff to steal and was happy to go along with Leslie's bizarrely casual response and just cut his losses and leave.
The egg part outside the fridge is normal. It’s because pre-packed eggs sold in groceries are washed, which removes the natural chicken substance that is preserving the egg.
As someone who lived in Germany, I totally get the egg thing. I forgot what it is but the way that eggs are in Germany allows them to go un refrigerated. And I believe in the UK it's the same circumstance. (Side note: I could also get boxed milk that I didn't have to refrigerate :D. Still did it tho cause I like cold milk.)
Tell ellum the reason store bought eggs in America are put in the fridge vs in the UK is because they wash them before packing them therefore stripping the protective film vs in the UK where they don't wash them before packing them therefore makings them last longer outside the fridge
Fuslie: Sometimes, if I'm in a bad mood, I'll avoid Ellum, but it's me I swear Also Fuslie: Like just this morning I was hiding from Ellum in the pantry
Someone make Ellum read this. In the United States, eggs are refrigerated to reduce the risk of salmonella contamination and to slow their aging process. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) requires eggs to be washed, sanitized, and refrigerated before they reach store shelves. This process removes contaminants but also removes the egg's natural protective coating, called the cuticle, which makes the shell more vulnerable to bacteria. If left at room temperature, bacteria can move through the egg's semipermeable shell and into the egg with moisture.
