Guys they make a screen “door” that’s more like curtains that magnetically close together in the middle that you can train the dogs to walk through and it will just shut back behind them

OR just get a screen door and undo one corner at the bottom so the dogs can pass through but flies cannot (aka the cheap DIY version of what you suggested lmao)

We have one of those! We bought then off of Lake Side Collection, if I remember correctly. Our little dogs push through them super easily and it really helps with the flies

Maybe try growing herbs (mint and bay are especially good) and lavender in pots or hanging baskets by your door as they deter flies and can be used for cooking

Idea for your summer fly problem: My family and I use mesh/net fabric with magnets attached to them. That way our own dogs could push through them with little effort to get outside, but the flies couldn't get inside.
I've recently started watching the office and now I totally get why Julien is the way he is lol

You can get bug nets that go over doors, which have magnets down the middle that separate the two pieces of net. My cat pushes his head through it and gets out. Marbles might have trouble but the others will be able to get through.
