We now have a building plan of this project! www.darbinorvar.com/misc/book-vise-cutting-plough-building-plan to make it easy to build your own vise. It comes with detailed instructions, cut lists, advice etc...
I am a bookbinder and I approve! I like that you chose the wider screws. This means that it is much easier and quicker to open and close. I wonder about the point of the additional Wooden pieces at the handles. And it is missing a locking pin. The 2.5 inch screw is what makes the difference.
The wooden pieces are there because of a mistake. Initially I didn't have a 2 1/2 in drill bit so I did it by hand and that made it too wide and uneven.
I like this RUclips video-style experiment - tasty camera angles. Very satisfying. Great craftsmanship. It appears as though you're both very talented!
Hi ;) Amazing video and tooling, as always. Could I ask where you got your threding tool? I've been searcing for some threding tools for larger sizes, however it seems to be somewhat difficult to buy anywhere.
What a nice thread box and tap! I was intrigued by the thumbnail being a left hand thread, but I guess it is just a mirrored image. Couldn't you have wasted most of those bevels on the bandsaw?
I'm speachless! this video is orgasmic! such a great job! You guys have my respect and my subscription. By the way where can I buy one of those targe tap and die sets? if you can help me with that it would be awesome. Anyway, thank you so much, and I hope you can help me out with the tap and die set. Greetings from Chile.
Oooh, I've been waiting for this one. I'm waiting for my uni break to try my hand at making a finishing press, I'm in dire need of one, and it's always good to have video footage of someone making it to help in the first time, so thanks :-) Edit: Why no locking pin? Was it unnecessary?
www.dictum.com/en/cylindrical-tapered-cutters-bakk/profi-wood-threading-tool-2-piece-set-38-mm-714143. That link only goes up to 38mm/1.5". Try www.fine-tools.com/gewind.html for up to 62mm/2.5". They are all pricey for a single project, it is probably cheaper to buy finished products from someone like Lake Erie.
book block would be the most accurate term, yes, since at first she only placed the signatures to cut holes for the thread, but sewn signatures is understandable and, at least to me, would work as well

MAGNICIENT. It broke my heart that you had to shorten those beautiful screws.
I love this new format of yours. No talking, short video and just pure relaxation of watching craftsmanship. More please.
Да хранит Вас Всевышний и даст Вам здоровья и процветания! Это самый хороший урок!
Nice work! Fine craftsmanship is alive and well!

This video is amazing ❤❤❤ Could we get a list of materials if posible?😊
Great video and such an aweseome tool!!
Hi i like the screw and nut 2.5" please say where you bought them i like very much thanks
Hi ;)
Amazing video and tooling, as always.
Could I ask where you got your threding tool?
I've been searcing for some threding tools for larger sizes, however it seems to be somewhat difficult to buy anywhere.
Well that kept me guessing right up to the point where the book went in 🤣🤣🤣
Beautiful
Pretty amazing work, guys! 😃
Looks great!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Book binding was clear after the relief cuts in the big pieces.
What size do these blocks of wood have? Inch or cm, both would be great. ;)
BTW: Great videos. Calm and informative.
3 x 5.5 x 32 inches (7.62 x 14 x 81.3 cm) You can use smaller all around though. I just chose these because I had them. Thanks!
Where can I source my own wooden thread tap and die like you borrowed?
What is the item you are spraying on vice?
Bought a similar one at a thrift store and changed it to a moxon vice
I initially though Moxon Vice. Then I thought yep, the relief is for your saw when cutting dovetails...book binding?
What a nice thread box and tap!
I was intrigued by the thumbnail being a left hand thread, but I guess it is just a mirrored image.
Couldn't you have wasted most of those bevels on the bandsaw?
I knew as soon as you marked out the tapers for the 2 sides.
Very nice.

Edit: Why no locking pin? Was it unnecessary?
I didn't think it was necessary.
Name of tool used to make thread on dowel please?
Where did you get that Tap and Die set? Looking to make my own wooden vise screw.

It was actually lent to me by James @kingsfinewoodworking - not sure where he got it from.
Where can I get large tap and dies from?
I borrowed them. They are really expensive to buy. Having used this and the 1 1/4" one you might as well go with the cheaper version.
Can I purchase one of these items from you?
Very good work.
That Is cool vice book binding vice
But i do miss you talking .
What did it say to the left in picture? "Thanks for watching"? It was mostly hidden by those ads for other videos by you.
Why not keep the last 10 seconds just black? Then those ads wouldn't hide anything :)
Up until you put the sewn signatures (probably wrong term - book block?) into the vise, I thought you were making a Moxon vise. Very nice.

👍👍👍
1 min in and looked like an oversized pepper grinder you used to get in Italian restaurants.
To make it more difficult today you did this all left handed ! And what hairy arms you have grandma. Great video !
ruclips.net/video/Y9j9MqyoyYA/видео.html has an interesting extension to your design, and how its used is show in the video link.
