Make sure to listen to Tip # 13 guys. I've had multiple instances when I've had a system starving and I never realised that it's because it was sending food to a colony. Pretty stupid they'll literally starve themselves to death to supply enough food to a colony, but there you go.
There is a 1 tip better than search thecs in lab . Hold Control and press planet which you cant colonize , then screen ll go lab and show you which tech you need ..
Great video! Very concise and clear. You don't ramble on and on like others. The zooming in on specific UI you're explaining really helps. Just bought this 2 days ago on massive Chinese new year discount but was intimidated and got lost by the UI! Game concept wise I'm OK because I've played civ and master of orion 3. But this looks more complex and needs a bit of learning curve. Thanks again!
Also, whenever I say ''very' or start a sentence with 'so', you drink double! Damn hard to get rid of those little quirks! :) Glad you liked the guide!
Can you help me please? I just started the game and I don't know how to send my ships where I want, they are exploring, but for example when I want to colonize a planet I need them to be there but I don't know how to appoint a destination for them. (sry for bad grammar)
You can left-click on a ship, and then rightclick either a starlane or a system and they will go there. Once the colonization ship is orbiting the system, you can zoom in and click on a flag to colonize the system. Hope that helps!
Just got this on sale, but another big and not obvious one is to shuffle your population around in systems (or once you have modernization 2, to other systems). Some of the races in your civ have planet specific bonuses, and don't get placed optimally. You could have a population making extra whatever if they're just moved over by one planetb at times.
I bought it last week and it is one of the more complex rts games I have ever seen. Complex but not difficult to learn quickly. It has more depth of decision making I have ever seen. I will be playing it for a long time.
Thank for the tips. I still have some questions: 1. What race is the easiest to begin with for understanding the game? I trying to play on easiest difficulty and pirates just wrecking me (not even an opponent AI) 2. What first steps to do when you start the very new game (like first 10-15 turns: what to build, what to research, should i rush and get another colony ship as fast as i can OR its better to get additional exploration ship and see what is around OR keep resource for something else?) 3. When i meet another race (minor one) should i be friendly or declare war (what to look at when making such decision? 4. When building a fleet: i need a tank ship to be focused on defense even more (sacrificing offence) and attacking ships should be focused on damage (sacrificing defense), assuming such ships will be in the single fleet. Is it correct thinking? Also what better to get defense for: focus on plating OR shields OR evenly both? Thank you for any answers.
6. What to do when all my planets overpopulated? Even if i choose to the Approval path of development on the plant -- it still drops on some planets to 0% and they rebel. 7. How to leave colony? I destroyed opponent system and his colony became mine, but i don't want it, i have penalty because of the total count of system i colonized. What do you suggest in such situation?
Wow lots of questions. I’m no expert but in the absence of any other answers: 1. I would say one of the human races. They tend to have less special requirements and odd gameplay quirks. Depends on your play style though. 2. Depends on your goals. I’d suggest sending out an explorer to scout the nearby systems, then research the tech you need to colonise at least one world in each system. After that research based on your goal. Don’t ignore military though, you can’t reason with pirates! 3. Early game it’s best to make friends. You can assimilate them for bonuses. Later game it’s up to you. 4. Depends on the race you’re playing but generally battle tactics won’t help you much if you use that strategy. It’s worth designing a ship that applies flotilla bonuses and have it sail with powerful combat ships. As for defence I’d keep it even but you can use battle tactics to counter the enemies weapon choices and counter your fleets weaknesses.
5. It differs between heroes. When you get one take a look at their talent tree and see what advantages they may give to a fleet or world. Generally you want them on your worlds at the start because the bonuses they can give really help with growth. However some will make fleets way more powerful so it might be worth keeping a hero with one of your flotillas and investing in fleet talents. In my first game I hit a quest where I needed hero-led fleets and I had 3 heroes will all system talents lol. I failed the quest. 6. You may be able to get a tech to help. Sheredyn Empire has a tech to convert pop into manpower which helps mitigate this. Also colonise more worlds but be mindful of the system cap as going over will piss the entire empire off. I assume most races have tech or abilities to mitigate overpop but haven’t had chance to play them all yet. 7. This is tricky. You can potentially evacuate the colony but that leaves loads of people homeless and you may not have anywhere to put them. You can try trading the colony with another race if you’ve met any, although that requires tech. I actually sold a distant colony to gain influence over a relentless enemy in one game and that bought me time to build up my fleets for war. The empire was unhappy about it but hey, they didn’t all get glassed by Cravers so happy days! As I said, I’m no expert but I hope that helps.
as bugs go, the one you refer to with tip #1 isn't the worst, but it would be nice if they fixed that tool tip. It's not weirdly named, it's wrongly named. The actual automation policy icon is right below it, and has the same (correct, in that case) tool tip.
Could you make material about fleet customization (way of upgrading your battleships, amount and type of modules\weapons) in Endless Space 1 & 2? i have much problems with computer on normal ^^ It seems no matter what i do he always has more and better...
I got this game thinking that my time in the first one would carry over... but there's so much more in this game than the first. I'm a little intimidated. LOL
I love this game so much but unfortunately, it has so many bugs. Corrupted save games, freeze ending turns, dropped frame rates ruin the game experience. I try to wait to the patch v1.0.5 to come out but the problems still exist. Too bad, this game deserves high chance to gain the higher favour of the gaming community but the developer does not know how to fix its game. Love your video so much and I hope more of your contents will be out in the future.
Thnx for the video, however with getting the game now with all the DLC if that makes a difference, and playing on easy, there is a problem when playing as humans I keep on running into. The cities are always unhappy, which I guess depends on the planet, but then there is growth problems, or food problems etc. It seems the micro management in that sense is off because while learning the tech tree is a hassle and a necessary, how it forces someone to dive into the deep end of trying to min max as a pro on easy or the empire will crash seems buggy. Just wanted to say I wish there was something that also high lighted this issue, or if anyone has any knowledge to drop on how to deal with this issue, which I guess is about tech order, which again, for easy mode should not matter, but for what ever reason it feels like I am playing on pro difficulty except for the lack of battles. But the point of easy is, if I want to, if i went all military it should be an easy win, but the game literally wont let me, even if i try to research the basics and build accordingly. Seems like for easy mode the playstyle is too pigeon holed.
I will! Keep finding new stuff, but don't want to make a new video for each thing I find, so hopefully soon! Also thinking of making a brief overview of each race, but that'll be a long term project :)
Question for someone who has just gotten into the game, is there ever a time where the difference between projectile and energy weapons/defense truly matters? I notice as you advance up the skill tree you have to make a choice between one or the other and the only consideration I've really noticed is whether or not you can afford primarily Adamantium/Dark Matter and later the purple and green strat. resources (forget their name sorry).
how many star system i can colonize at a time?? i can't get hold of more than six colony. when ever i try to colonized more planet, any of my other entire star system just became decolonize. what should i do????
thx I played endless legends and wasn't very good on it, pre-ordered es2 because even if im bad their games are awesome restarted the tutorial 2x already but even with
Spaceports are automatic once you reacl lv 2 systems, and they allow you to ship population to any other system not completely filled yet. It's very important to fill new systems fast with yout surplus population, max production via racial traits, etc.
Definitely 2 (in my opinion). I actually didn't really like the first one. In two you have way more control over what you're doing, more options, better combat & diplomacy.
I don't think any of these tips are not valid anymore even with the release :) I'm making a new video with some extra tips that I found out about while playing more though!
RubberGently Research the infinite tech to turn production into dust. Set a few systems that aren’t building anything to produce dust. Helps loads, especially when you need a big navy.
Is this one of those crappy turn based games? I've watched about 10 "gameplay" videos and haven't seen any gameplay yet, just endless scrolling through menus.
Scrolling through menus kinda is the game...and if you scroll through the menus correctly, you get a brief, but beautiful, space battle where you kick ass and take over the other guy's planets. :-)
Make sure to listen to Tip # 13 guys. I've had multiple instances when I've had a system starving and I never realised that it's because it was sending food to a colony. Pretty stupid they'll literally starve themselves to death to supply enough food to a colony, but there you go.
I wish you could say that you don't want to send any food, or specify a max amount that a colony would provide.
basically africa

Hardcore drinking game: every time he says 'However' you drink. Btw thanks for the guide.
Also, whenever I say ''very' or start a sentence with 'so', you drink double! Damn hard to get rid of those little quirks! :)

Yeah, that's what I was curious about. Thanks man :)
can you help me also? how i get infinite dust or ships that cant be destroyed?
Just got this on sale, but another big and not obvious one is to shuffle your population around in systems (or once you have modernization 2, to other systems). Even almost year later, those tips are great for me. Thanks.
Holy cow, it's been a year almost! Ugh, time goes so fast.

It's not rts. It's tbs.

Solid tips! I wish I would have watched this before playing my first game >.
Great stuff, man.
You should include how influence sphere works. This is confusing as hell.
Capricorn thanks for the kind words! I'll have a look at it in two weeks (at the airport for a work trip now) :)
an updated version of this video should replace tutorial in the actual game. great work very helpful
Incredibly helpful. Just bought ES2. Thanks

Interesting, you're completely right! Damn copy/pasting programmers! :D
You sound JUST like my CFO. Great video
Finally some real tips. Thx!
How did you eliminate those overpopulation bars on every planet system?
chain gangs
Very helpful! Thank you for this video!
Great video! Very useful and well communicated :)
9:04 so you mean I don't have to get a exploration ship in system to study an anomaly? I can just study the anomaly in system?
Could you make material about fleet customization (way of upgrading your battleships, amount and type of modules\weapons) in Endless Space 1 & 2? i have much problems with computer on normal ^^ It seems no matter what i do he always has more and better...
Definitely. I hope to make videos about all the major mechanics in the near future :)
I got this game thinking that my time in the first one would carry over... but there's so much more in this game than the first. I'm a little intimidated. LOL

Firehell no? I have had no bugs or anything.
Very useful. Thanks!
Nicely done!
great vid as always.

You can indeed drag and drop techs in research queue now.
Thank you, your video helped me a lot. :)
boosting also doubles the FISDIs that they are producing
Great Vid! Thanks.
Thanks for the tips.
Helpful. Thanks!
Very good sir!
Do more! :)
I will! Keep finding new stuff, but don't want to make a new video for each thing I find, so hopefully soon! Also thinking of making a brief overview of each race, but that'll be a long term project :)
Maybe do a small series for new players? That way you can start from the very beginning and hopefully explain almost everything about the game?
Question for someone who has just gotten into the game, is there ever a time where the difference between projectile and energy weapons/defense truly matters? restarted the tutorial 2x already but even with
is this like galactic civilizations 3? Because it was so complex and so unforgiving that I ended up rage quiting it :/
I think it's very different. I think this one has a much better atmosphere than GC3, which I found a bit soulless.
Thanks
very helpfull unfortunately i spawned in the same constalation as 2 cravers on my first game (still playing that match) any tips?
how does the Spaceports work ? can you tell ?
Spaceports are automatic once you reacl lv 2 systems, and they allow you to ship population to any other system not completely filled yet. It's very important to fill new systems fast with yout surplus population, max production via racial traits, etc.
How do I put a ship back into the hanger
Thank you
thank you!

endless space or endless space 2 what to get?
Definitely 2 (in my opinion). I actually didn't really like the first one. In two you have way more control over what you're doing, more options, better combat & diplomacy.
currently go the game. please make an updated version if you can.
I don't think any of these tips are not valid anymore even with the release :)
I'm making a new video with some extra tips that I found out about while playing more though!
Great guide thanks. How can i deal with over population.
Send people to other planets that you just colonized! :)
Drag and drop or do you need spaceports?
Olaf - i think u need a space port to do that... So u need a lvl 2 system upgrade
im losing over, and over, and over again, the tutorial and the game itself, WHAT DO I DO!
Did you start the game on easy?
Is all this still relevant in 2020?
How do "trade routs" work?
Like this ruclips.net/video/Femy6Q7EGTk/видео.html !
Yes, like that. I couldn't find one in any searches that's why I asked. Thanks!
Upkeep is killing me
RubberGently Research the infinite tech to turn production into dust. Set a few systems that aren’t building anything to produce dust. Helps loads, especially when you need a big navy.
u should update this since the game is out, or at least put annotations on the video where things have changed.
Omidion all tips are still valid. RUclips unfortunately removed the annotation function, really annoying.
beautiful game, but after turn 150 unplayable - lags and slowdowns are gamebreaking (my specs - sdd drives, gtx 980ti, 16gb ram, i7 porcessor)
alasterdemare I imagine it will be fixed eventually, it only just came out of early access, so it's bound to have a few problems
alasterdemare I never had that problem
You’re Dutch, right?
how do i use the buyout ? have no option for it . endless 2 is pure shit when it comes to tell you what to do
Garuda tip nr. 2 in the video!
bs
Is this one of those crappy turn based games? I've watched about 10 "gameplay" videos and haven't seen any gameplay yet, just endless scrolling through menus.
Scrolling through menus kinda is the game...and if you scroll through the menus correctly, you get a brief, but beautiful, space battle where you kick ass and take over the other guy's planets. :-)
And it's damn glorious !
My #1 tip would be to not purchase this game. It's a bigger cash grab than endless legend was. Shame on you Amplitude Studios.
Snap caster why? I think it is cool. Still on early access, it will be full released on may 19
Very useful tips.
Thanks!
