I am a 75 year old Irish - Welsh American. I have watched my adopted biracial son work to piece together a biracial identity. He thinks of himself as Black andmulti-racial. My point is that we are all multi-identied. We need to become more accepting of difference as an embarrassment of riches. Purity isnt all its cracked up to be.

I’m biracial, but I don’t identify that way. I call myself Black. But I love my white family! It helped me learn that race isn’t as real as love and family and unity are. Purity is an illusion. Human bonds are strong and tangible.

"We need to become more accepting of difference as an embarrassment of riches. Purity isnt all its cracked up to be." Go tell that to the Japanese. It's only Western nations that are barraged with this message.
Come to think of it, under every video having to do with this topic from BBC, MSNBC, CNN, NYT, et cetera, there's always a top comment that reads something like yours. Yesterday I saw "I'm a 68-year-old White woman and...". If I was a conspiracy theorist I'd probably believe the comments are planted there to make others think "Well I guess if other people are saying this then who am I to disagree?" It's just odd that there's always one.

I think a major difference in how Harris addresses the 'race issue' now versus 2019 is that in 2019 she was in a field of potential candidates vying for the nomination. She (probably) sought to make some distinction between her and the 6, 8, 10 other primary candidates, some of whom were women and/or 'of color'. Today she is already (effectively) the Democratic candidate facing the Republican candidate. So the distinctions between her and Trump in policy, attitude and 'composure' are far greater than between her and her 2019 primary competitors and as a result her need to differentiate herself is satisfied well before the obvious race & gender differences between her and Trump.

So he’s big mad that he’s not the most popular boy in the news cycle and that nobody cares about his friggin’ ear anymore, so he’s doing what he always does and urning the conversation and attention back to him. This time, it’s in the form of trying to drive a wedge between races, in the form of colorism and mixed racism. People better not friggin’ fall for it.
We shouldn’t even be talking this much about it because that is exactly what he wants - for him to own the news cycle for a few days while we go back to our previous default position and spend weeks on defense, hand-wringing over his comments and clutching our pearls at how offended we are.
Just call him a creepy, weird, lying old dude, then talk about all the wonderful things Kamala’s going to do for the country and move on.

The greater problem with Harris isn't how she wants to identify, though it's clear she struggles connecting with normal Black people. It all seems performative. The greater and more serious problem is a woman in power who struggles getting along with her father and has no relationship with him. She is almost 60 and hasn't resolved that yet. That's a red flag for me.
Sidenote; The words codeswitching and woke have been around since the 90's used by Black Xers. Just because those more assimilated haven't heard it until their kids started using it 5 years ago doesn't make them or their kids hipper. Harris might be a codeswitcher but no one in their right mind would say she was woke or even near BLM. The fact that people find Ross annoying but Hillary acceptable shows you don't care about politics you care about personalities and being accepted. There is your true weird, as adults. The guy is conservative and open minded in the way of George Will or David Brooks as opposed to Bill Kristol. That's what conservatism was before Newt Gingrich heard Reagan. The Clintons are conservatives pretending to be progressive who have sold the DNC, country and themselves to the highest bidder. In the long term you will find Harris more like the Clintons than Obama or Biden.
