I remember coming home from school to see this uploaded on YT back then and absolutely flipping my sht for this game. Good good times. Honestly the anticipation was arguably more hype than the game itself imo. Game itself is fine, but the hype before release was palpable.
I'm glad to see SEGA have actually put in some effort with this game to please Sonic fans of all ages. Keeping original music and doing what sounds like beautiful remixes was a brilliant idea. Seeing the Dreamcast era in a 2D format is just fantastic.
The music is sounding awesome, everything about this game is awesome. I'm happy they're re-doing some levels from the genesis days so the younger generation can get a feel for it. I'm happy Sonic Team finally got their shit together.
I'm actually glad the demo guy is wholly incompetant, it shows off any flaws in the engine and level design much better. And I can't really see any glaring issues, so good job Sonic Team!
Haha!!! Ahh that damn music from city escape. I memorized the hell out of that song because I would always play that level to grind for the those Chao glowstick things lmao.
I don't think this could ever replicate the nostalgic value I feel every time I play the original City Escape...but the modern interpretation is very, very cool.
as a fan of both the 2D sonic games and the 3D sonic games, it's a real treat for me to see classic sonic in the 3D games stages and moder sonic in the classic games stages.
this game looks so awesome i played the demo got it get it. growing up with the original sonics throughout the 90s i gota say they did an excellent job mixing the old and new without ruining the original. the music sounds awesome too, love those songs! lol
Sonic generations is an awesome game,I don't even have to play it to give it a verdict. All of the remade stages look amazing and looks like the game plays very good just by looking at it.Even though it's sonic's 20th birthday and they're bring back all of stages of earlier days,I would like to see atleast one original stage thought up to keep the game more fresh.Thumbs up if you agree.
The game has everything you need in a sonic game. A lot of levels to play, good soundtrack which some ppl don't like which is cool. They can just turn the music volume down on the game, and the gameplay is out of this world. Sega is putting effort guys. Let them redeem their honor.
@missTeesh100 with generations i will always stick up for sonic even when things are looking bad i am looking foward to another 20 years i hope people will read this and understand awesome comment dude :) and chemical plant looks awesome !!!!
Am I the only one here who - perhaps has been following Generations news closely, but is from this video REALLY HYPED MOST because of the MUSIC! I mean, who ever thought we'd hear the EPIC SOUNDTRACK of the CHEMICAL PLANT ZONE AGAIN! Props to SEGA ..they put out good songs...(alongside Crush 40, /sons of angels(more like gods of music)
I really don't understand why it took Sonic Team THIS LONG to realize what makes Sonic good. Just look at this! As long as the physics are right, this looks phenomenal.
@Axxidous Remember the Genesis games? You ran at a speed that allowed you the thinking time between seeing an obsticle and reacting to it. The really high speed sections were mostly on rails. The current 3D games tend to ignore the thinking time reaction and end up having you ploy into obsticles often before you've really seen them. It's trial and error gameplay.
In my opinion, the more modern Sonic games have not been up to scratch for 2 reasons: No freedom, not being able to choose your own path like the old MegaDrive games, and attempting to be too realistic, with the inclusion on the humans in Sonic The Hedgehog '06. This game is correcting both. FUCK YEAH LONG LIVE SONIC
@GreatNegus Green Hill Zone, Chemical Plant Zone, Sky Sanctuary Zone, Speed Highway, City Escape, Seaside Hill, Crisis City, Rooftop Run, and Planet Wisp. Casino Night Zone will also be available as a pinball-themed DLC minigame, and part of Stardust Speedway is in Classic Sonic's CPZ. Aside from Green Hill Zone, the 3DS version's stages are unknown. Confirmed bosses are Death Egg, Perfect Chaos, and Egg Dragoon for console; Big Arm for 3DS.
@Axxidous Side note: the reason Classic Sonic can move in 3D is because he wasn't built from scratch, they made him by cloning Modern Sonic and altering his physics, moves, animation etc. So the reason he can move in 3D is because he's cloned off of a player that is programmed to move in 3D and still has programming for 3D. Doesn't mean they intend to put him in the modern levels though.
@xxDarkHeartxx731 Well, he doesn't need a damn go-kart or hoverboard thingy either, but Sega seems to have no problems with putting him in them. Besides; classic Sonic is a symbol of 90s 'tude. And what's more 90s 'tude than a skateboard?
Im gonna buy this game, at least for the nostalgia feeling. The modern sonic chemical plant looked cool. And city escape brings me so much memories! Yeah, I have played both levels in their original games (26 people here havent)
Sonic games have always been about speed. As a follower of the franchise myself I didn't think those games were fast at all, they were clunky. I think it's cool that you liked them though. I guess this game was made to please us all, both 2D and 3D folks... and it is doing quite well. Cheers!
I can just imagine Sega secretly adding the Chao garden that everyone wants but improved from Sonic Adventure 2, it would be the biggest surprise of the year! (for sonic fans) xD
So my basic understanding is that classic sonic goes through a level like the old times. Sonic, goes through levels with a 3D perspective. Huh? Neat....I like it :)
@Manofaction0 For my part Im very pleased. Im dont demand so much after all: the game have to be fun, challenging and (in this case) hit the nostalgia bone so hard that i could cry (well, maybe not that much the third point). Im glad Sega heard the fans (the reasonable adn even the trolls) and are trying to deliver a game that will mark the series in more than a way. I only can say to this one: BRING IT ON.
It's so awesome to see my favorite 2d levels re-imagined in 3d. They better have a wealth of levels from Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles... they should just put all the levels from Sonic 1 2 and 3 and then Sonic and Knuckles in there.
@Senzune It's more than likely final. If I'm remembering an interview correctly, they just have the original track playing, while "decorating" the track, overlaying new synths in addition to the original piece. It's the same thing with Green Hill. I believe it was something to do with the licensing of Masato Nakamura's original songs? I dunno.
It took me a long, long time to realise this. But as awesome as this looks, I don't have a single hope for Sonic games anymore. Sorry warehog is still burned into my mind.
@nuzamaki90 My own form? Damn, I'm good. >counting >non-specific term used >no number stated Moving right along. >a map Would you be so kind? >things I have had What's all this now? >no choice to acknowledge them What exactly are you trying to say, friend? >a terrible X is not a good X What a complex concept you've detailed. And it's terribly unfair not to answer my questions. I've been so kind thus far.
@Senzune I agree, and honestly it is kinda confusing. I just remember Jun Senoue mentioning it in a Nintendo Power interview a while back. I do hope that the Sonic 3 and/or Sonic & K representation makes it out with a better Classic mix.
I remember coming home from school to see this uploaded on YT back then and absolutely flipping my sht for this game. Good good times.
Honestly the anticipation was arguably more hype than the game itself imo. Game itself is fine, but the hype before release was palpable.
Sonic Team/Sega,looks like you guys have really nailed it with this one :D Great job!
OMG I INSTANTLY startedsinging the same notes Chemical Plant came on! The memories! Great job Sega! This is all we were asking for!
Wow it's been so loong! haha this is awesome. Love the classic sound effects too. IF they made an entire game in the classic style that would be sweet
That is SO cool! I love both of them! And the City Escape! one with the Classic Sonic sounds like a nice dance music. XD
*Dances*
I'm glad to see SEGA have actually put in some effort with this game to please Sonic fans of all ages. Keeping original music and doing what sounds like beautiful remixes was a brilliant idea. Seeing the Dreamcast era in a 2D format is just fantastic.

Wow gameplay looks good for both Modern and Classic Sonic. I'm really looking forward to getting this game (:
Wow, the game simply looks like a blast to play. I doubt it will be perfect but it simply looks fun. The beautiful graphics don't hurt either XD
I'm actually glad the demo guy is wholly incompetant, it shows off any flaws in the engine and level design much better. And I can't really see any glaring issues, so good job Sonic Team!
Oh my god! The chemical plant music! :D and it looks the same but with updated graphics, awesome!
Haha!!! Ahh that damn music from city escape. I memorized the hell out of that song because I would always play that level to grind for the those Chao glowstick things lmao.
I don't think this could ever replicate the nostalgic value I feel every time I play the original City Escape...but the modern interpretation is very, very cool.
So happy to see Sonic going back to it's glory.
This brings back SOOOO many memories of my childhood, oh nostalgia =)
I'm glad there bringing back City Escape, this game looks awesome.
as a fan of both the 2D sonic games and the 3D sonic games, it's a real treat for me to see classic sonic in the 3D games stages and moder sonic in the classic games stages.
I feel... excited for a Sonic game. Never thought I would feel like this again.
I love the Escape from the City remix for classic version. Very up-beat tempo. Definitly excited about this game.
Modern Chemical Plant sounds amazing, I love the look and the music of it already
Lol This is so amazing I would even call it Sonic Adventure 3! :D Hell yeah! and I love how they brought back City Escape from Sonic Adventure 2! :3
Damn it looks like in the good old days! Sonic Generations is a real gift for Sonicfans!
This was my favorite level in Sonic 2 =D This level looks kick-ass!
I'm glad they chose this level. I would have gone with either this or Metropolis. That level is so awesome too.
this game looks so awesome i played the demo got it get it. growing up with the original sonics throughout the 90s i gota say they did an excellent job mixing the old and new without ruining the original. the music sounds awesome too, love those songs! lol
You sonic fans better be happy, it looks like they put their hearts and soul into this one.
Modern sonic's chemical plant zone looks beast and the music is awesome.

Very cool!
I saw posters of Mighty, Ray, Fang, Bean and Bark! :)
Sega please! Classic characters in Sonic 4 next episode.
you know, music plays a critical part in any video game. it takes good music to make a truly good game. sonic generations rocks it. nuff said.
wanted to see gameplay of this for so long!!!!
@missTeesh100 with generations i will always stick up for sonic even when things are looking bad i am looking foward to another 20 years i hope people will read this and understand awesome comment dude :) and chemical plant looks awesome !!!!
listening to the chemical plant song made me tear alittle....i really cant wait for this game
I CAN'T WAIT ANYMORE!!!!!!!!, PLEASE!!!!!!!, I WANT THIS ... This is the real sonic game from this GEN!
ditto! its the stage im most looking forward to next!
Props to SEGA ..they put out good songs...(alongside Crush 40, /sons of angels(more like gods of music)
finally sega heard our message of wanting the old sonic back, THANK GOD!
this game just looks better and better the more we see from it.
Thats awesome that they're using the music from so long ago
i love the city escape Remix..takes me back to sonic adventures 2, one of the games i will pick up cause of the throwback feel new school graphics
I really don't understand why it took Sonic Team THIS LONG to realize what makes Sonic good. Just look at this! As long as the physics are right, this looks phenomenal.
Sonic Colors? Sonic Advance 1?
I FKkkking Love how they remixed the music from the modern lvls for the classic mode , Sega NEVER miss on the music
greatest thing sega's done in the past 10 years
@watersomic Whoa! That's awesome, are all of those confirmed then?
I literally cried when i saw modern sonic in chemical plant with the AWESOME music ='D
oh man, the memmories... this is a must buy for me :)
This looks amazing! Will defo be a purchase! :-D
Love this stage- hopefully there will be more levels from sonic 2 :)
whoa. chemical plant is amazing modern
i didn't even imagine chemical plant could be like this when i tried out sonic 2
I wish Sonic would still say WOOOOO like he did in unleashed. That would always pump me up!
@Axxidous
Remember the Genesis games? You ran at a speed that allowed you the thinking time between seeing an obsticle and reacting to it. The really high speed sections were mostly on rails. I'm digging the modern remix. This game is gonna make me nostalgia-gasm so hard.

That GUN truck in the background is epic
I still say this was Sega's response to that Sonic 2 HD fan game that was being made. But hey this still looks freakin awesome
@GreatNegus Green Hill Zone, Chemical Plant Zone, Sky Sanctuary Zone, Speed Highway, City Escape, Seaside Hill, Crisis City, Rooftop Run, and Planet Wisp. Modern Chemical Plant is EPIC WIN. If I have enough money after buying Skyrim this is a must have.
cant wait for this!! my only issue is the extremely cheesy europop music on modern sonics part of the game
Sega....You finally grew a brain....Thank you so much!!
Right at the very end! Thats Ray the Flying Squirrel and Mighty the Armadillo on that poster. That is some sweeet nostalgic reference.
I can't wait to play this.
Sonic games have always been about speed. As a follower of the franchise myself I didn't think those games were fast at all, they were clunky. I think it's cool that you liked them though. I guess this game was made to please us all, both 2D and 3D folks... and it is doing quite well. Cheers!

the game looks great from the levels to the graphics but my favorite part is definitely the remixes :D
Dammit, now I cant wait for gameplay with Shadow as a boss :D
this is so badass and chemical plant sounds better than it did in sonic 2 hell yea cant wait to buy gnerations
@Mitchell00 It's because it's something different and in a way fresh since the different variations were never produced until now.
I'm not usually too excited about video games...but I'm gonna be outside Game, waiting for it to open so I can buy this exciting, EPIC game!! :D
@Manofaction0 For my part Im very pleased. Im dont demand so much after all: the game have to be fun, challenging and (in this case) hit the nostalgia bone so hard that i could cry (well, maybe not that much the third point). SA and SA2 were two of the greatest games of all time. They are both 3D sonic games.
Love those old school chem plant tunes
This might be the sonic game we've been waiting for since "Adventure 2 battle"
Booah ich freu mich schon so wenn das im November raus kommt. ^^
Hols mir dann für XBox360 :D
they neeed to hurry up and start releasing more music, I really like that modern version of Chemical Plant ^_^
It's so awesome to see my favorite 2d levels re-imagined in 3d. They better have a wealth of levels from Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles... they should just put all the levels from Sonic 1 2 and 3 and then Sonic and Knuckles in there.
So this is what Sonic Adventure needed. A boost.
haha loving the music! thats some Lazy Town shit we got playing there :p
I could listen to that Chemical Plant remix for hours!
i am 12 years old , and i dont care about cod or modern games in hd.
I cant wait for this game . btw modern chemical plant zone music is awesome 8D
Modern Chemical Plant Zone music is amazing. So awsome.
modern chemical plant has the best generations music ive heard so far
hell yeah! this was my fav level!
3:56 cute foot sound x)

Such epicness and nostalgia...
Too bad I don't have any of the consoles this game is coming for.
Its been a long wait to finally get a sonic game back on the pc platform. I'll be getting this.
It took me a long, long time to realise this. But as awesome as this looks, I don't have a single hope for Sonic games anymore. Sorry warehog is still burned into my mind.
As long as they fix the annoying lag while in 3D mode, and the physics aren't as wonky as in sonic 4, I'll definitely be picking this one up.
@nuzamaki90 My own form? Damn, I'm good.
>counting
>non-specific term used
>no number stated
Moving right along.
>a map
Would you be so kind?
>things I have had
What's all this now?
>no choice to acknowledge them
What exactly are you trying to say, friend?
>a terrible X is not a good X
What a complex concept you've detailed.
And it's terribly unfair not to answer my questions. I've been so kind thus far.
can't wait for this sonic game
@Senzune I agree, and honestly it is kinda confusing. I just remember Jun Senoue mentioning it in a Nintendo Power interview a while back. I do hope that the Sonic 3 and/or Sonic & K representation makes it out with a better Classic mix.
