Honestly caring can mean a lot of things for example cleaning cage or cages and changing water and food, i clean my bird cage and change his food and water, but cant clean whole cage because its a big cage, but before i would clean and disfect everything and sometimes i mean now would disfect his cage stuff or his food dish or water.

How did you finally get your bird to eat veggies....!?! My birds are absolutely scared of veggies and fruits and anything remotely wet... What would you suggest?

    • @RealmSprinter
      @RealmSprinter 7 лет назад +9

      SAIVSS
chop them up and mix with your birds seeds
and slowly add more veggies and less seeds each time you feed your bird. This should be done slowly over the course of a week or more. Depends if your bird is starting to like the veggies and fruits, each bird is different

I received a bird through a connection of a friend. The bird had only eaten seed for its diet, it was nearing the 3/4ths of its lifespan. This bird had never been taken out of its cage, and the owners only changed its water about once a week. The cage was not an appropriate size, it was a travel size cage, on an unstable hanging stand.
When we received the bird, we put it in a larger, unused cage, and bought it a friend. The bird steadily became friendlier, and enjoyed exploring the bird room, and foraging.
A few days after it had successfully socialized it, I woke up to the birds screaming, and found the bird, layung on the cage floor, with the love bird trying to wake it up.
Upon explaining the situation, our avian vet determined that the bird died from improper care.

  • @PaulsMom93

I got my bird from a dude from craigslist, she was on an all seed diet, and I took her to the vet and she had fatty liver disease. I also did everything I could do just like you. I got my bird on a pellet diet, and she got used to it surprisingly very quickly. She is not a big veggie fan, but she likes sweet corn and fruits. She likes to eat the veggies I am eating ;) That's a great way for a bird to get used to new food, when they see you eating them!

Why I rescued my 3 year old male Parrotlet Yogi, he was on a seed and junk diet. I bought a bag of RoudyBush pellets and added more each day while taking out some of the old food, until there was no old food left, taking about 10 days to do this. At first, he tossed out the pellets, but over time, he started tossing out the old stuff. Now, he goes nuts over the pellets, raising hell if he finishes his daily allotment of pellets. He eats a heaping half tablespoon every day, with fruits and veggies on the side.

I adopted a young cinnamon green cheek conure (that we named Rue) who had been part of an animal abuse case. She had half of her feathers missing, no tail feathers and nails overgrown. She had spent her life in a cage 1.5'x1.5'. She was terrified of men and especially of hands in general and would bite even me all the time. My husband couldn't even walk near her cage. She is immensely better and will even fly to my husband on occasion now.

My cockatiel, Elvis, was diagnosed with Fatty liver disease back on Tuesday, despite him having a very good diet like the rest of my flock. The vet said that it was caught early.
    He is also overweight, unfortunately.
My female budgie, Opal, choked once. She ended up throwing up a big chunk of pellet. I was scared, but she's been fine ever since.

Hey, now that I think of it, my first bird we only had for a week had a seizure out of nowhere.. Maybe he was on an all seed diet for too long. My other two eat all sorts, and they're slowly giving all sorts of fruits and veggies a try. They eat broccoli, carrot, capsicum, Sprouts, Apple and Bok choi. I'm glad they eat it but they still eat a lot of seed.

What a wonderful episode! Thanks for the stories as to how you adopted Mia and Zeeby. My parrotlet has deformed feet, too; her two smaller toes hook over her longer toes; they seem to be useless. It doesn't seem to cause her any trouble. Question: I have been looking for the rattan or wicker balls like you showed. Where do you buy yours? I can't seem to find them in bulk as my parrotlet and lovebird love tearing them up.
Your videos always teach me things so I love watching.... please, keep them coming.

show them information about it and slowly take away your birds seeds away. Take your bird to an aviary vet and tell your vet about how your bird is only eating seeds. If your parents won't listen to you, theyll believe a bird vet. Remember, an AVIARY vet. A normal vet isnt going to be specialized to examine a bird

Hi! I have a few questions for you! First - would you recommend Parrotlets for a novice owner? I am wondering about adding a bird but want to do it right. I have had a budgie as a youngster but..well..I think that was more my big sisters bird really. Second - how long do parrotlets live, generally (I know it all depends but, generally). Finally - do they need to have very warm environments to be healthy/happy? I am in a cold climate/region and my house gets quite chilly in winter, around 66 degrees. Is that too cold for them? Thank you..

First, love your channel and your passion for birds.
I've recently rescued two cockateils that were on a all seed diet for 2 years. Ive switched them to a high end cockateil pellets but like mia, wont touch any fruits or veggies (ive tried a lot). Please recommend which veggies worked for mia and how did you get her to go for them?

I'm wondering if I can keep a pair of budgies in a Critter Nation. It has 1/2 spacing and with the base it's 5 feet. Is that ok? Or can they escape?

hello! i am very interested in getting a pet parrotlet. over the course of the past several weeks i have read a lot about them and many people say that they are naturally aggressive/nippy. your birds seem so tame and nice to be around. did it take a long time to get your birds to be like that or did you buy them with a more timid demeanor? how can you tell when you visit a pet store or a breeder which bird will be the nicest? thank you for reading!

I have a parrotlet and her feathers look really chipped like she bites them and ugly unlike other parrotlets I've seen where their feathers are smooth and look full, what should I do?

No I don't think so we have a cat and dog but she is kept up high so they can't get to her.. my house is very chaotic so maybe she just needs to be kept in a quiet place

HI! Please help... I got my bird a few years back and has been fed a seed only diet his whole life. The store had only fed him seeds and they told me to do that as well. As soon as you started talking about Fatty liver disease I felt sick to my stomach- my bird has all of the symptoms. How do I deal with this? Thanks
