Just amazing. One of the best boots there is. CT always delivers the goods live, but at this particular time they couldn’t be touched by anybody else. This captures them right at a time just before they broke into the big time, and had really perfected their live performance. Their hunger is palpable. This, and the official double LP release, “Out To Get You! Live 1977” are absolutely essential if you’re as obsessed with this band as I am, and have been for the last 45 years.
This was my first Trick bootleg that I bought with a found $50 bill that was literally rolling down the street in front of the record store, "It's Only Rock & Roll" on 8th St. in the West Village, NYC circa 1984. I was 13. I still have the vinyl!
I still have all of my vinyl - and the friends/boyfriends/relatives who either got bored or went strictly to CDs stupidly gave me some real vinyl classics and I have have a super collection. About 7 years ago I went 100% vinyl and have not used a CD player in my home since. I still have the same stereo equipment I bought in High School with my money from working at a Woolworth's store if you can believe that one!! I also began to hit the vintage stores for additional speakers, etc.
This show was the first rock concert I ever attended. About 15 years ago someone gave it to me on a bootleg CD. It still sounds as great to me at 53 as it did when I was 15.
Bryan, when I was 16 my parents forced me to go to school outside of Milwaukee - about 20 miles. I was a hard core Stones, Zeppelin type, etc. I was just sick to death about hearing "Cheap Trick", "Cheap Trick" from the older kids at school who were 18 (legal drinking age) by the time I hit 17 and could try to sneak into bars (18 in Wisconsin as you may recall) I did sneak into a show at the Sunset Bowl and could not believe the energy on stage, etc. I was also petrified because it was the first time I went to a bar and rarely was able to get in. I stood in a corner and someone 18 bought some beers. Many smoking materials there, however. It was an interesting night. They did mention the Sunset Bowl when they were inducted into the R&R hall of Fame.
i have an extra...little scuffed, just surface. this is like hearing them in a club. i only caught em in 90s touring the boxset and blew my mind...they played a ripping version of Hot Love that must be seen on Conan
One of my favorite records from one of my favorite bands. This is pure rock and roll...band is absolutely playing/singing as if their lives depended on it. I have 3 or 4 other ct boots...does anything even come close to this?
I lived in DeKalb for 10 years until 1979 and I *somehow* managed NOT to see a single Cheap Trick show! Although I saw a lot of bar bands that wanted to be them...

This would have been one hell of a show to attend. Great from start to finish!!!
they were still virtually unknown
First bootleg bought. Extra shipping cost and 3 weeks to wait at the order (in fact 2 months). Almost 40 years....
Awesomeness!!
