*Bengaluru, August 12: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that , it has been decided to celebrate State Festival Mysore Dasara with grandeur in a meaningful way this year in the wake of good rains in the state.
He was speaking in a press conference after the high-level meeting on Nada Habba Mysore Dasara - 2024 today.
Last year, It was not possible to celebrate the festival in a grand manner due to drought. This time there has been good rain across the state and almost all the reservoirs are full. In this background, the CM said, it has been decided to celebrate Dasara as a festival of the people.
Last year, 30 crore rupees were given for Dasara celebration. This time necessary grants will be provided to celebrate with grandeur. He also directed that the tableaue participating in Dasara Jamboo Savari should be more attractive, meaningful and diverse.
Dasara celebrations will begin at Chamundi Hills on October 3 at 9.15 am. Direction has been given to start the exhibition on the day of Dasara inauguration day and the departmental secretaries have been instructed to make arrangements of stalls on the inauguration day itself. The CM said that the government's achievements and guarantee projects should be displayed in the stalls of all the departments in the exhibition.
On August 21, from 10.10 am, Gaja Puja will be performed at Veeranahosahalli in Hunsur taluk. Dasara festival will be held from October 3rd to 12th. According to the tradition, 9 days of programs and on the 10th day, jumbo savari will be arranged. The CM informed that on Jamboo Savari and Nandi Dwaja puja will begin from 1.41 pm to 2.10 pm on October 12th and the procession will begin with Puja from 4 pm.
Last year For the convenience of tourists, lighting arrangements was extended by a week last time. It has been decided to hold the lighting arrangements for 21 days this time after Dasara, the CM said.
A large number of Tourist Mitra and Home Guards will be appointed to assist the tourists. The police department has been instructed to make preparations so that there is no lapse in the parking and security system. He said that tourism circuit will be launched in collaboration with KSRTC keeping Mysore as the center by tourism department.
Cultural program, exhibitions, lighting, food fair and other programs should be organized in a very systematic and meaningful manner. Local artists should be given more opportunities as locals should be encouraged. Instructions have been given to organize events to give Dasara a new look. The Chief Minister has been given the power to decide on who will inaugurate the Dasara festival , the CM said.
