- This is a demo for the KingTone mini OCTALAND Octavia pedal.
The pedal produces a high octave above the note you're playing.
Plugged into a Fender Quad Reverb which is the same as a Fender Twin but with 4 speakers instead of two. This Octaland pedal will produce the classic Hendrix, Band Of Gypsies and SRV high octave tones.
You had me at your 'clean tone'.
^ This
Sounds like SRV spot on
Hate to say .. but I liked the clean tone more … lol
Ok Jesse.
I have the Duellist. I need the Blues Power, I need the Octaland, I need the Sili. Fuzz, I need your pickups, I'll need your Univibe.
STOP, for God's sake, STOP.
My lovely banker is already sending me bad emails !!
Haha absolutely stunning , the tone and your playing too man !!
It amazes me that you're such a player and you build some of the best effects available today. You have a spectacular ear and your design aesthetic is extremely classy
Ace, Ace, Ace. The playing is consistent and killer throughout this whole review, we can really ear the pedal differences without getting distracted by big riff or style changes. Very well executed!
I've listened to the first 32 seconds of this video about 100 times now.
Another monster pedal! I think you're making some of the best vintage Hendrix/SRV inspired pedals in the world right now, if not the best. Would love to hear what you'd do with a univibe!
Univibe coming soon :)
Oh my god.....Right??
@ Jesse - you’re pedals are incredible, and your personal customer service on questions I’ve had with mine through email. Top notch man. Looks like I’m selling some pedals to replace with the Octaland, and making space for your univibe!!!
@@jessetwohands That's awesome!! Cannot wait to hear it!
I just got the blues power pedal yesterday sounds killer with my magnatone amp.@@jessetwohands
@@jeffdubuque5622 Did you get one of the new Magnatones Jeff, or is it a vintage one?
Aaaaand I'm sold. Your playing doesn't hurt either haha
Hello @jessetwohands, could you make a video to explain the internal switches and bias? I just purchased one and there aren't any manual about it. Sounds great!! Thanks for this pedal
Nice video and some great tones to check out. Tere are two dip switches inside, can you please explain their function just incase you know? Thanks.
I enjoy the gentlemanly, intellectual tone of your voice compared to the fire-eyed phoenix tone of your guitar, pedal, amp and playing. Hilarious and very inspiring.
Much better thanks! The Duellist and Fuzz Mini are my two fav pedals I knew there was no way this could be anything less than a 9.8/10 ;)
Mark S I am sorry to hear you’re having trouble getting the right tones. To set the bias, turn the mix, volume and tone to full. Turn the drive to 12 O’clock. Adjust the bias until the natural buzz from your guitar pickup disappears or is at its quietest. This is the default bias setting. To get the strongest octave tones, set the drive to 12 O’clock, the mix to full and the tone also to full. Set the toggle to vintage. Only use the neck pickup on the guitar. Play with an overdriven amp or into an overdrive pedal. Play licks around the 12th fret. You can also slightly roll down your guitar tone control for an even more pronounced high octave. Also, placing the Octaland 1st in the pedal chain is ideal.
jessetwohands not only are your products consistently great but you also win the award for fastest customer service. 😃
Wow… Amazing tones
i love this hendrix octafuzz style .. but how does it go with the univibe and when are you going to produce a kingtone wah ??
Absolutely craaaazy brother!! 😱
I don't like to compare sounds to other great players, but when I do it's with great respect, and with that said, the very first licks with the pedal on sounds like the 1990 SRV voodoo chile rendition on ACL DVD. It actually startled me when I heard this pedal. It's amazing and so diverse!! Kudos brother..
@jessetwohands I love your pedals sooo much. Only the 1968 is missing then I have all your pedals on my board. Is that quad reverb modified?
Incredible sounding pedal, the best I have heard other than an original.
What a fantastic sound... super playing... I’m not big into pedals these days but this is a beautiful thing and will definitely look into buying ... congrats. Mike
You - my friend - are one heck of a player. And this is one heck of a pedal that will very soon inhabit my board. Been looking for this sound for years! Also - thanks for a great demo; very well explained and demoed
Ordered one today. Can't wait to take it on tour with me.
JESSETWOHANDS, the octaland internal bias trim pot does what to the octave pedal i don't get it what it does can you explain more please?
OK, OK,OK, I bought it! Stop making these pedals Jesse! I do not have any money left.... ;-) Is it that good? No... it is even better! Amazing pedal! The major problem with it is that when I put it at the the 30% mix, 50% tone, 50% drive 50% volume, it sounds soooooo good running into... wait for it.... King Tone mini Ge fuzz (damn you, you sweet sweet man..), that now I need a second one for an actual full octave sound.... It is the closest I ever got to the recorded Hendrix tones. The vintage setting is great, but the glass is just killer, it is like when you think it is impossible to EQ an octave to get this extra zing you were always missing... here it is. Jesse you are the builder for us SRV/Hendrix-obsessed.
PS. Could you do a demo of the bias option for us lazy people who do not change the internal trimmers until somebody convinces us that it is worth it? ;-)
Did you try before and after fuzz to see the sound difference? I got mine coming this Saturday. Can’t wait. 👍
Sweet Baby Jesus that’s a tasty octave tone...
Well HOT DAMN i couldn't care if you were demoing a pedal or not I could listen to your playing forever!!!
Uuhh, I like that mix knob! would be very useful :)
I really like your clean sound.
Thanks!
Had the brown Octaland mini for past year and I bit. One of 2 solid pedalboard choices that survives every board reconstruction. Sold it... and I bought the new one in Blue :) no analog octaveup fuzz that track equally well out there, nothing compares
Are you still making the king tone switch?? I want me one asap with a set of your pups!
Hey Jesse! Amazing pedal! How can I use it with the Blues Power? What is your recommendation?
Hey! I recommend placing the Blues Power after the Octaland. Setting the Blues Power to add drive and grit to the high Octave tones.
@@jessetwohandsThanks Jesse! the original Octaland is discontinued?
Does this use the same nkt275 as your germanium fuzz? In other words could you use this as a regular fuzz with the mix turned all the way down? Thanks!
Which would you recommend for SRV the blues power or the duelist running into a 65 Deluxe Reverb 22w clone with a 15” speaker. I will not be cranking the amp to play loud, just home personal playing.
The Octaland and Duellist are unreal pedals
Thank you!
Also, would you mind telling me how you record your demos please? Mics and placement etc.? I assume you have the amp cranked up a fair bit as your clean tone sounds nice and fat already. Do you use an attenuator at all?
Yeah I have the amp, a fender quad reverb cranked pretty loud, 1 close mic and a mic about 2 feet away. Using a fender strat. I have the amp so the clean sound will break up a little if I dig into the strings.
@@jessetwohands Thanks!
Are you still making the regular octalands ? Kind of debating which one too get it
Jesse. Your fuzz pedal and the Octa. Which do you put first if you have both pedals on?
Hey! Fuzz into Octaland I feel is the most useable but the other way round produces some cool tones too.
This pedal sounds great! Can it mix well with Fuzz Face clone type pedals like the Chicago Iron Tycobrahe Octavia reisues or is it best to use it alone without a Fuzz in front of it? The tones in this video are very cool and impressive.
That sounds fantastic. I've been searching high and low for a pedal just like this. Are these available in Australia?
Where would this pedal likely go on a board? Stack with other overdrives? That "clean" tone sounds fairly dirty.. Just ordered this, BTW.
Whats Strat you have here, J?
Great pedal...got mine today..just going over a few vids before firing it up Kingtone switch being installed as we speak.Should have it tonight So cool having a great player building pedals..
What is the 'clean sound' coming from? 🔊👀👌🏾????
Dude, savage!!!
Very good sounding Octave Fuzz. You sure know how to design fuzz pedals. Headed to your website now.
This sounds freakin amazing man.... I have the Myriad Josh Smith fuzz from Vemuram and it's amazing but this is also AMAZING! I want it nowwww
What is your clean tone?! Explain that and I’m sold
First pedal in 15 years, that I GOTTA have!
I’m off to shopping..
I just sold my Fuzz Octave pedal that I've been using for years and will be waiting for these to hit the website.
Check out dealer page, I think they’ll have some :)
@@jessetwohands Thanks Jesse. On a separate note, you have a video of you playing a solo on a Hamiltone guitar titled, "Jesse Davey Solo outtake from the new Hoax Album." What song is that?
Insane! Love this and now on the list to buy as well as your switch if I can only find one to buy. BTW if you added a way to add the 5th to the pedal you would really have something special!
You need a harmonizer pedal for that (Meaning digital). Analog fuzz boxes can't do it.
@jessetwohands how well does the Octaland deal with the guitars volume controls? My favorite fuzz is your Vintage Fuzz which does a spectacular cleanup when rolled back. Does the octa behave similar? Does it pronounce the octave more on certain settings?
I own the octaland and I run it almost exclusively on my neck pick up, the octave is much more pronounced. You can also try rolling off the tone knob on the guitar for an even more pronounced and glitchy octave.
@jessetwohands can you explain the bias setting inside?
What exactly is you clean tone, Pickups, this fender quad is stock or with some mods? there is something else on the signal path? Gretings from north.
Killer chops !!! What string gauge?
Jesse is this a pedal that benefits when powered with carbon batteries rather than a PS?
Would this work best before or after the Duellist?
I personally use it before but it will happily go after too :)
@@jessetwohands Awesome, thanks! I just got the Duellist and I think I'm gonna need this Octaland mini also.
I haven't played Quads but I've played Fender Twins and it sounds like you are getting a lot more breakup with your "clean" sound that I would expect. Anything else going on effects wise here other than the Octaland?
How does he get his clean tone to sound kinda jiggly? I don’t know how to explain it /:
.. just received my Duellist from Santa ..so I'm happy. ....now I need the octive and the univibe....in fact , finally found a pedal company now , to where I can run everything King Tone , on my pedalboard....with zero regrets
Once again.. no way of saying no to this pedal.
Sounds great. Is the pedal digital or analog?
How is the guitar recorded? Mic'd cab? Sounds a little "roomy". Wonderful sounds!
I love hearing the room in these type videos. A dry direct sounding signal from an sm57 right on the grille drives me nuts. This sounds more real and 3D.
Jesus this thing is a Hendrix paradise 🤤
Amazing tone Jesse! Should you put the Octa before or after the Duellist?
Boogie Mike Before
Daaaaaaang that thing kills
Thanks you💫
Awesome pedal i need to have this 😊 i got the duellist
The first 30 seconds had me hooked
Still brilliant.
god damn... That is just ridiculously badass.
JUST WOW! Another great "little" pedal.. you see, I have like ZERO time to play my strat these days.. and now I'm just gonna have to QUIT MY JOB and buy up all these amazing pedals, throw in the KINGTONE switch, warm up my amp and JUST PLAY GUITAR!!! Its everything I've been wanting so badly to do so...what d' ya think Jesse?? LOLOL
Yeah all his pedals are really sick, but his fucking playing is no joke!!!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Hi, when will these be available to buy? and will they be getting stocked at
Peach guitars? noticed its big brother just came back into stock. What a tonal range, can't wait to get my hands on one... Love your work
Which country are you in? I think Peach Guitars in the UK and LA Vintage in the US have them. Check the dealer page on kingtoneguitar for more options. :)
“Thai is the clean tone” LOL.
Is it center postive or negative?
Hey! This pedal is standard 9v center negative.
Will you join my band and bring two of every pedal you make??? lol
Quite versatile.
You're a great player and pedal builder, I wish you would've played some more chords too though.
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiice.... DEFINITELY goin' on "the List"- even though I already have what, five or six (or seven?!) various excellent all-analog octave-fuzzes, up, down, sub... The Octaland's Mix control would be a real added bonus for me, as well.
Killer!!!
phillip Sayce sound
blinding, as ever.
The dirtiest clean tone ever
What is your clean tone?!?!
It's a Fender Quad Reverb slightly broken up.
WANT
Take my kidney!
clean tone... Lol
should have gone with this instead of the Octapussy
Would this sound better before or after your germanium fuzz?
