This was very good information. We had our car shipped with our belongings in the shipping container. Matson didn’t charge us extra for that. We paid for a 40ft container which was $1000 more but we saved $1100 shipping it this way.

I remember when I was stationed at Pearl Harbor & NCTAMSPAC in the '90s & 2000s; people would travel to Oregon to buy vehicles due to no sales tax & ship it back to Hawai'i before Matson ran up the shipping fees. Buyer beware, it's best to get OEM for any part that connects to a computer module. Doesn't have to be a dealership. Rock Auto often sells OEM parts.
