So take these as entertainment value and my subjective experience :). So tell me, which fragrances would you pick for each of these categories? Do you think Chanel is a must have??
Yes Chanel is in a class of it's own. All their perfumes smell rich. I have 4 so far. And I love Chanel because it seems that they don't discontinue their fragrances
I can’t live without a Chanel perfume. I am a huge fan of the Chance edp and edt too. I also love my Coco Noir, Coco Mademoiselle, and Gabrielle Essence..

My Chanel is Gabriel My everyday easy grab is Chloé Nomad I do not enjoy the original Mon Guerlain but it sounds like I need to try the floral version because I think the original is too powdery! My freshie is Elizabeth Arden’s Green Tea And my night-y is CH’s Good Girl

Sally Marion, because you haven't found a Chanel you've loved, or you just haven't tried one yet?? Chance is absolutely beautiful!!! Gabrielle is also a beautiful fragrance imo. I don't think you could go wrong with Chance as your first!!! There's really nothing off putting about it! I HAVE to always have it in my collection and it's timeless. Coco Mademoiselle, though timeless as well, would be a bit 'chancy' (the irony! lol) to me as a 1st.Only because imo it can come off as an 'older' woman fragrance, and I'm not young!!
As you say, we all have a particular taste and an opinion, which is not better or worse than those who think differently!! But I agree that every fragrance connoisseur should have one if not many Chanels, and at least small bottle of No5, in honor of the house....
I absolutely love Miss Dior Cherie 05 version, definitely stapple for every women in my opinion! I think Chanel & Dior do a good job at having a lil something for everyone 😊

I don't agree that any house/collection is a "must have". Most houses have their own DNA and if you don't like that DNA you can struggle with the whole house. This sums up Chanel for me, I haven't found any loves from them. As for Guerlain, I adore the house, they have so many beautiful perfumes I love, but I wouldn't wear any of the Mon Guerlain line, the lavender just kills it for me.

I bought Mon Guerlain off of your recommendation and I accidentally bought the EDT instead of the EDP! 😩 Now I make sure to always check EDP v. EDT when purchasing. When I first prayed it I was shocked at how citrusy it was. Then I saw it was EDT. I’ll have to give it a shot in spring and summer, but it wasn’t really my vibe when I first sniffed.
I have many versions including the edt. To be fair, it lasts fairly long for an edt and is still very nice scent to wear in the daytime or at work. Better for Spring for sure, but still really nice.
I’ve totally made that mistake before, I used to never know what the difference was I literally just thought it was a different concentration but I’ve since learned often the notes can be totally different. At least it’s still nice!
Watching you loving Bois Dore and Gabby Loves Perfumes i ordered a small purse spray, when it arrived from Fragrance Net i was amazing at the similarites it has to Eau de Baux by L'Occitane which i love but find the performance just not there. The opening of eau de baux is more peppery but they are quite close dupes of each other. I do love Bois Dore its incredible. Now i want it and for the bottle alone. Mon Guerlain edp is one i will always have in my collection and i have a large back up bottle but it was not love at first sniff for me it took time and became a love. Great video. This was interesting. I agree with most, but I would expand to just a Guerlain, I know several people who are allergic to lavender (like me) and get headaches from it. I love the Le Petite Robe Noire Line though :)
Have you tried the Chance line? I think the eua Tendre seems to be the most mass pleasing although surprisingly that's the only one I don't care for in the entire line haha. I also find that age and how many times you have visited them makes a difference, I remeber smelling them about 13 years ago and I really didn't love any of them. Now all of a sudden I'm obsessed with them haha.
thank you so much! Surprisingly enough the eau Tendre is the only one I don't totally love, although I've only ever smelled it on paper in the store - maybe I need to wear it on myself. I keep going back and trying it hoping that one day I'll love it enough to buy it.

It’s absolutely stunning (I prefer the EDP) and it’s got this cold floral striking fragrance to it but it can be extremely over powering regardless of how much you apply and within 2 hours (personally) it turns into a skin scent. I’m not sure why but the only Chanel fragrance that lasts mildly long on me is Mademoiselle :(
I haven’t actually timed it for a dash but I’d say it’s moderate lasting. I think coco mad would be longer in my experience because coco Mademoiselle seems to last forever.

I bought this one about 2 years ago, fragrance colors can change over time, I am not sure if mine was the 2012 formulation or the 2017, I'm fairly sure it was the 2012 which was a yellow liquid. So that's why it's now darker and looks orangy. To be honest I have not been able to confirm which batch this is. But even the new one is really good :)
Vanilla and/or tonka bean is an extremely popular note even in non-vanilla perfumes. You seem to really dislike when people talk about vanillas; you don’t have to share everyone’s preferences. Personally I do seem to enjoy a lot of fragrances with vanilla, so yes it’ll pop up here a lot! 😊
Also this is very much reliant on person opinions since fragrances are very personal. There are plenty of other options out there without vanilla but they are different. I find the gourmand and orientals are my favorite but maybe you’re more of a fresh or woodsy person. I’d suggest Torquatic by MAC, D&G Light blue intense, Chanel Fraìche and Tiffany and Co. Tiffany

I'm not a fan of Mon Guerlain but I enjoy other Guerlain fragrances like Mitsouko and Patchouli Ardent.
