Haha! You are 100% correct. I started playing the minor pentatonic scale shortly after I got my bass many years ago and just thought it was a cool-ass riff.
I was pretty stoked when I eventually decided to learn scales and discovered this riff was one of them! 😂

Jermaine you have a unique feel, like Victor, Marcus and James Jamerson, you can play a different fill everytime, each are unique yet still captivatingly groovie my brother. Why do we do that? Give any bass player a bass and the first thing they play is minor pentatonic, 9 out of 10 bass players will line check with something minor pentatonic… its because it’s naturally funky and you can switch from finger style to slap easily on the ears and get a nice dynamic sound check
