I love how Cimo consistently explains his decks in detail, as much as people meme, for those that are curious its very welcomed, and for those that don't care tabbing forward isn't really a hassle.
And he does it right.
This series and History of Jank are the only ones that I understand him taking 10+ minutes discussing the deck as it is giving the history being it. However, in Progression, it is kinda obvious he's extending for length since it's almost always the same deck he brought the week prior.
@@krux6786 There might be people who are skipping episodes and haven't seen the deck. I think it is just a matter of the scheme of the series. We can always not watch that part.
I dont need it sometimes because I played these decks. But we are now in the era where I have no idea. I stopped playing around now. And you really need knowledge to enjoy these games.

how ironic that his we dueled using only series was where he loses a lot. too bad it ended tho.

Playing a god card doesn't feel impressive to me. Everyone can play bad cards if they are dedicated enough. I am not easily impressed. I only would have hyped him up if he managed to win with it
I was gonna wait until I finished the video before thumbing it up.

You could even argue that the didn't give the deck the respect it deserve by no bothering to learn to how to play this deck properly. I am not even a harcore Glads fan but it really annoyed me to see how badly they played the deck

@@joaogarcia6170 They don't. MBT has testplayed a lot of decks in Edison format but aside from that they usually go in straight. Cimo even said that when he "played" Gladiator Beasts. I don't know how busy they are so I don't want to just critcise them. But they could at least do a couple of runs against basic bots

im so happy you guys have been doing this series. as a fellow veteran yugioh player (2002/2003 being when i joined), i have actually played during nearly every point of the game, and its so awesome to relive the olden days, and this series is so good, since so many modern players have no idea just how amazing this game use to be before the modern day, 1 card= 20 negate nonsense we have these days.
I keep hearing people mention that but is this actually true? How many modern players are below let's say 25 years old? Basically every dedicated player in this community is from our generation and has grown up with it. And even though I skipped the competitive scene until 2015, I have played enough old school yu-gi-oh in my childhood to understand how good cards like let`s say Gorz are/were. And I think this applies to the majority of players. Is it really so hard to accept that many people, even though they grew up with this game, simply prefer modern formats?

I said this once but I will say it again, X sabers is my favorite deck of all time. I'm glad to see it being used. Next week Frogs are ganna go full Sage mode Naruto I assume 🤣
That intro had me worried that Cimoooooooo was going to play frog FTK.
2010 was my best competitive year in Yu-gi-oh, I made Canadian nationals with an anti-meta x-sabers build called Caliber Cat. I made it to the top table with 2 rounds left, and lost to Frog FTK :S. Then I lost to a mirror that if I had won, would have been in top 16 after swiss.
Thank god I don't have to watch a repeat of that.
Ps. Crevice into the different dimension is insane. At that nats, I sided in 3 vs an infernity player and got all of his tuners removed from play. I hit him in the face 9 times with an attack position ryko lol.
X-Saber was a really cool deck that just so happened to have the most broken-ass searcher of all time in it.
Hella gutted we didn't see Obelisk get slammed down. I think Joseph might have just ceased existing

32:07 to be fair, obelisk is a house of a card during that format. 4k atk and cannot be targeted by effects and its summon cant be stopped or responded to.
The only surprise here is that frog ftk didn't immediately catch on, was mass driver already at 1 before The Shining Darkness came out?

@@pandaman1331 I believe they are using decks that weren’t the best decks that were winning at the time but still did well/okay in competition play
@@sinbadddx not really, in general, yes however jank mean they can also play hot garbage like the hero deck mbt played lol. I can't imagine that deck winning anything.
I remember having to play against a frognarch player using obelisk the tormentor and all I have is a defender of the ice barrier and a creature swap and were both down to 2k LP with my opponent only having obelisk on their side of the field with no backrows whatsoever. Those were the good old days when I was playing Ice Barrier and always have the option to reset my swords of the revealing light and call of the haunted with dewloren's effect while dai sojo is also on the the field and a torrential tribute always handy in tough situations.

I think we're used to think of roanintoadin as this super powerful non opt recursive body bc we can use it as link material over and over or as fodder for something as the FTK, but at that point people probably thought about it as just a 4th copy of treeborn that was actually worse in some situations since it requires more setup and why would you resurrect it more than once per turn since you're going to use it for just one tribute summon, idk why they actually played one copy tho it's just a thought

Frog monarchs is my favorite deck. Vanity's fiend & jinzo are houses and a half for the deck. Never ran the fire monarch personally. Idk if dandelion is out yet. Super good for the deck. Deck is super underrated and only ever gets stronger.
You can also normal set after useing swap frogs effect.
Frog monarch was so fun to play. But never see a substitoad in a single decklist.
Was the Obelisk actually good or was it just the bizarre misruling where Catastor targeted that made it good?
an obelisk deck ran hardened armed dragon which made outing said obelisk only with a creature swap or by battle.
I think a bit of both. Obelisk being immune to targeting and just being massive made it a big threat, and since Frogs could easily put two bodies on board for the second effect, it wasn't bad to include. I think it was really only here to be a big bungus, though.

Billy Brake is considered one of the GOATs and has good moments but honestly it's much less impressive winning in a Tier 0 format imo (especially one where competitive Yu-Gi-Oh was in its infancy). Putting a deck on the map is more impressive to me, but I didn't know about that Gold Sarc play so sounds cool.

I made that strat after this event as Obelisk was not legal and only a price card at the time. Literally nobody was playing him and I went ima slap him in the frog engine, get rid of the monarchs so i don't brick myself to death and add the HaD
oh, that's edison legal , & is a masked dragon target . . I might play 1 in the minecraft edison tournament on monday, White Night Dragon getting blown up by Ryko is annoying , still lose it to Caius but it might have some interesting games, tutoring armed if by chance had like, brain con/white night in hand would feel pretty great, & even just a 2800 indestructible beatstick would be nice to get on board

monarchs have and forever will be my favorite and best deck at the time, 2 top 16 sjcs which one of the should have been a top 8 as my last round i went up against adam "all i do is cheat" corn by opening up dark hole and mof both games which was where i started first both games with a mask of darkness down and time seal behind game 1 and another set game 2 with a back row followed by the same shit. it is what it is. i also have made 3 monarch decks for friends to top 8 sjcs with. i miss those days in yugioh which is about 14 years ago now lol
