      Nope. Elephants are extremely smart, which is exactly why they are abused and beaten to teach them "tricks". Educate yourselves, anytime you see an elephant doing something super cool or unpredicted, 9.9/10 times it's been abused and starved into learning some kind of "trick". Real elephants are wild animals who only care about their family, any elephant who can do some sort of trick or pretends to care about humans aka this video was beaten and starved until it learned to give it's free will away to what it's abusive masters wanted it to do.

      So go educate yourself. This video alone is what's wrong with elephants today. They are so intelligent and useful that 90% of elephants in Asia are captured, beaten and starved until they learn to obey their human masters. The only free elephants are one's who live in the wild or live in sanctuaries, literally any other elephant you encounter is abused and beaten to make sure it does whatever humans want it to do for money .Whether it's elephant rides for tourism or using them to carry things around like logging elephants; or a stupid video like this, they are abused and scared into doing a human's bidding. This video is not an elephant protecting anyone, it's an abused creature doing what it was taught to do less it suffer the consequences of not listening.

    • @brianh6
      @brianh6 9 лет назад +1

      +jrcwwl Silly comment. If the humans had a relationship with the person being attacked, do you think they would just stand there calmly recording? If elephants with no relationship to the person being attacked were present, do you actually think they would care?

    • @jrcwwl
      @jrcwwl 9 лет назад

      +Brian H Yours is not only a "silly" comment but an ignorant and utterly selfish comment. So you are saying humans only should help someone in need (especially if they are in physical danger) only if they know or have a "relationship" with the person? It 's stupid people like you who are the ones taking video while someone needs help. Your comment only gives more credibility to my statement above, and proves you completely missed the point I was making. Smh laughing at some people's ignorance.

    • @samhaelterman8141
      @samhaelterman8141 9 лет назад

      +jrcwwl No, that is not what he is saying. He is saying that if that was a human who had also developped a relationship with the "victim", then surely, the human would help too. So not only is your comment incredibly silly, it's also a complete strawman. Not only is this funny, you also call him stupid while you are the one apparently now able to read!
      Unfortunately, stupid people often think they are smart and educated. What Brian said was correct. Also, your complete generalization of the human species makes your argument even dumber. Plenty of people have done heroic things.

    • @jrcwwl
      @jrcwwl 9 лет назад

      Sam Haelterman Two idiots--what a surprise. You both fail to get something very simple. Sure the animal has a relationship with this person thus propelling it to protect his caretaker. But humans are supposed to operate on a higher level--excluding you two of course). We don't operate on instinct as animals do or because we were trained to do a certain act. We act according to reason, logic that leads to making a judgment, and my point is as the other person proved, that many humans won't act because "they don't have a relationship" with the person in need as stated above. We as humans shouldn't have to be trained to do something, especially for those that are in danger, or do it because we know them on some level. If you still don't get it (which I'm sure you don't you dolt) check out all the videos on youtube where someone is getting beaten or accosted and people are there with their phones recording it and sometimes even laughing.

    • @samhaelterman8141
      @samhaelterman8141 9 лет назад

      jrcwwl
      Another strawman argument and ad hominem. For someone who claims to be so educated, it seems very clear to me that you are definitely not versed in the logical fallacies you yourself make. There is nothing more entertaining than someone like you, who really does not know the boundaries of his own stupidity trying to school other people when making the most terrible errors in a rational discours.
      Now, you are not arguing with what I am saying or with what Brian said. What Brian said, is that if this was a human instead of an elephant that had developt a relationship with the victim, then you can be sure this human would act and help the victim.
      He did not claim that humans need only help the victim when they are close. This is your first strawmanargument. You say:
      "So you are saying humans only should help someone in need (especially if they are in physical danger) only if they know or have a "relationship" with the person?"
      Your inability to actually read what is being said is astonishing here. Brian obviously said that IF the elephant was replaced by the affectionate human, we would see the same scenery. He did not say that being affectionate to the victim is the only reason for people to help other people. The cringe part of of course is you then continue to ridiculize Brian on a point he never made.
      Then I told you this and you replied again in a very insulting fashion.
      Nobody made a claim of anything else and thus your second claim is also a strawman argument. But I will discuss it regardless:
      "But humans are supposed to operate on a higher level--excluding you two of course). We don't operate on instinct as animals do or because we were trained to do a certain act. We act according to reason, logic that leads to making a judgment, and my point is as the other person proved, that many humans won't act because "they don't have a relationship" with the person in need as stated above. We as humans shouldn't have to be trained to do something, especially for those that are in danger, or do it because we know them on some level."
      This claim has nothing to do with what both me and Brian said. Putting an ad hominem into a strawman argument is by far the most stupid thing I have read all week, if not all month. It takes a special kind of ignorant, but right, that's that.
      I know humans oparate on a higher level, which can also make humans not act. That might be an interesting observation. It does not mean because you can reason on a higher level, that therefore your sense of morality is better. Other than that, humans often act instinctively. So if you were the least bit educated on the topic of evolutionary psychology, you would realise that instinctive behaviour is definitely inherent in human behaviour. It's not all rational at all.
      I know of the video you talk about, and unlike you, I try and find reasons why people would not act upon it. The most plausible and logical explanation is that people are waiting for someone else to help, especially when multiple people are around. So it's not indifference, it's not stupidity, it's more of a cowardly or lazy thing which is by the way, inherent to human behaviour.
      Not only is your opinion extremely stupid, it's also incredibly ignorant, lacking facts and full of half truths. Also a gross generalization of humans as a species and a huge lack of knowlegde on the topic of evolutionary psychology. Trust me, there is only one stupid human out of the three of us, and that would be you ;)

    Mugging would literally go down 99% if every american had one of these walking with them lol. Awesome animals. Hunting for sport is just stupid. I believe in gun rights and I own many, but hunting for sport is wrong and should be banned. Real hunters kill for food and respect animals and wildlife in general. We don't need to kill for food anymore, literally hundreds of thousands cows a year get slaughtered for burger king, Mcdonalds and what not so we can eat without having to hunt. So I actually don't even hunt anymore I fish and eat fish daily for my diet but it's just wrong to kill animals for sport. You have to have some mental disability to hunt for sport and go "damn fine looking animal, I want to kill it". wrong man.

      +Douglas Robinson Well yeah we do. We have to, for example, where I live keep the moose population at the appropriate level. My family hunts moose but not for sport, it gives us a LOT of moose meat waaaay cheaper than bought in the store and we know where the moose comes from and that there are no additives.
      Hunting for food is still good at different places in the world.
      I'd choose a good moose steak over a McDonalds burger any day of the week, even if the moose steak would be half the size of the burger.

      fakeaccount8888 you're an idiot because your argument just dumped on itself, saying I'm not very intellectual is passing judgement moron. BTW, I'm speaking about people who hunt big game like lions, tiger and such that are becoming endangered in the first place. Also; intellectually speaking, other animals do hunt for sport but they are not as smart as humans and can't help but follow prey instinct. LOL nice try though on the insult and attempting to make yourself look like a "greater intellect". Idiot.

      baverfjant Exactly, you eat the animal I'm fine with that im talking about killing animals that you don't or just plain cannot eat. Example is a lion, Why kill the creature? You are not going to eat it, it's not posing a threat to your family so why kill it. To me that's senseless and needs to be outlawed. Killing fowl and deer, elk, or pretty much anything else for food, population control is fine to me. Killing a freaking animal you wont eat just because it's big and dangerous and you want to kill it just makes no sense. None. Cecil the Lion is a perfect example, thats not even hunting when you have to lure the animal off the reserve, know exactly where it is and then kill it. It's stupid.

      +Douglas Robinson Ah. I did not catch that part. I completely agree with you that killing lions etc. is wrong and unnecessary.

    Not sure why they think there is a need to scare the elephant to think the caretaker is down/injured. It causes stress to the elephant.
