@SurfSplendor Man...was trying to define any particular moment and respond with something profound, but I think it really just boiled down to the timing as we all wanted to hear the story....then just the solid nature of this guy. I think he could have been speaking about banana slug migration and it still would have just plain ol been a nice refreshing listen from someone who has major poise, humility, and an amazing drive to surf....guy seems like a really nice comfortable hang out. Btw. Got a nah/detail on the gathering wine up from a party. Meant to write in, but slammed selling wine at the moment! Will get back to it pronto. Thanks for the question though...lovin it
@@SurfSplendor I listened to half of it today, and so far I can say he seems like a good-natured grounded man. Reminds me a bit of the interview with Luke Shepherdson. That is actually how I was introduced to the work you do through this channel. Enjoying the conversation, and tuned in for the rest. :)
Mind officially blown. Such an understated beast in an other-worldly realm. Only if you have seen Mavs up close can you truly fathom the severity of this. Great interviewing as well. WORK
The angle - where the camera is placed can alter how big a wave looks. In the water from the side (mavs) waves always look far smaller than photos from the Nazare angle which is head on and looking down at it. Mavericks is often photographed in the water from the side reducing greatly how big it really is
They appear bigger. Who knows? I think it depends on how or where you identify the bottom of the wave - which is hard because the wave doesn't break top to bottom. What do you think, Brad?
@@SurfSplendor the key is the angle of the photo or video.meaning where is the camera placed when shooting…. From the side waves always always look smaller than above or front on. So it’s deceptive where they photograph Mavericks from
I dunno wasn’t there a monster at jaws that’s they’re saying might also be 100ft during the same swell? Good for this guy. Those two waves to me are much imo then the nazare rolling hills. Jaws and Mavericks have 40ft barrels lol. I hope he gets the 100+ but I can’t see it happening with all the attention everyone has put on Nazare.
I'd say guiness should certify it as the most buck wave ever ridden though. Height is kinda asinine and all the "records" are cap. That thing is monstrous props the kids a legend
One of the biggest waves ridden at Mavs. How can anyone say it's anything other than that? Every huge swell people say "Biggest Ever" Give me a break, We've seen pics and videos of waves in this same size range at Mavs. Everyone has considered Jaws bigger than Mavs. Everyone also agrees Nazere is bigger than Jaws, So how in the world is this the biggest wave ever ridden? What you have to do for clicks, I guess.
Fair enough, You should compile all the pics/videos of the biggest Mavs waves. If that's possible. Everyone could compare the size. That would get some clicks.
it's come to this? a world class charger reduced to sales manager for florence. it's better than conctreting i suppose. is the office intern surfing 60ft jaws too?
Kinda gnarrrllly
Kinda fun little one alo got

Great interview...so glad this came out so soon. Love the Stretch love....a true legend/icon!
Thanks so much! Alo was kind to make himself so quickly available. Stand up guy! Any certain parts of the interview stand out for you?

Another great interview with a humble guy. Well done!
Thanks, Mike! Yeah, 23 years old and humble and all priorities are in the right direction. Great dude
Great job on that wave. Bravo. Bill made my boards years ago. Way ahead of the curve.
Careful in the construction world. Been there done that.
Did you have a favorite board from him?
Alo seems like a cool dude. Great interview.
Agreed, what a super humble young man. What did you think about his wave?
@@SurfSplendor A monstrous, thick wave. Hyper-Mavericks. And Alo made it look easy. I think I want to be a big wave surfer in my next life!
You got Alo on! Look forward to the great interview! Good timing mate 😊
Thanks Melissa! Alo was such a pleasure to talk to - a calm, cool remarkable young man. Please share with friends :)

thanks TR! What a humble, cool young guy right?
... 23 ! .. wow 😎🔥🌊
and so humble!
It is a 💯 forgone conclusion that Guiness will be certifying it as the new world record. Cheers!
How do you know that? more importantly WHO do you know???
I feel like UCSD didn’t offer a 4-year legal studies degree when I went there (90s). Bad ass surfer though
What did you study then?
Insane. I surf very very small waves compared to these guys. Haha
haha, so do we all :)

Totally. I think the big boy math guys who do the measuring can account for all this?
Yeah I've always thought that too but strangely enough the water shots at pipe appears bigger from the same angle
Absolutely hectic but the waves at nazaria are a lot bigger are they not ?

There was a huge jaws wave too, forgot who rode it. We shall see. What was the biggest to your eyes?
Sucks it was so foggy. It would have looked crazy from the cliff angle
Didn't even think of that...great point.
❤❤❤
cool dude
So down to earth and surfing big waves for all the right reasons.
That's not a wave. It's a Beast!!!
How much $ for you get towed into that wave? haha
massive wave, gotta be like 60 feet
At least 61'
I'd say guiness should certify it as the most buck wave ever ridden though. Height is kinda asinine and all the "records" are cap. That thing is monstrous props the kids a legend
No. Possibly the biggest wave in Mavs history. Not in the top 10 wolrdwide. Massive wave none the less.
Mad respect, but it's not 86 feet
How big is it?
@@SurfSplendor My guess would be around the 75 foot mark
!!!
There’s no way they’re going to give it to him. The surf industry is too invested in Nazare.
We shall see.

Getting clicks is the game, but the fact remains we didn't make this claim... it has been made elsewhere and by people who know these things.

Name sounds like an anagram
It is. Did you figure it out yet?
