Only had one BMW. The R1100GS. Kept it ages, but all sorts of things went wrong. I bet if I'd kept my B-King as long, nothing would have gone wrong. That lad on the big GS can ride. Nick
The 1100 was problematic. Mine did the gearbox and the shaft bearings collapsed. My F900XR has had a couple of electrical issues too. I've never had a fault with any Japanese bike I've ever owned. They wear out eventually, but rarely fail.
@@martythompson6509 The 1150s had problems, too. I used to know someone whose 1150 Adventure's shaft bearing collapsed. He had all sorts of other issues. I wouldn't buy another BMW.
Since bmw have the R12 nineT as a big simple roadster, would be good if the R1250R (R1300R next year?) had the paralever front end like the old r1150r and before had. Give it more purpose
Yup. That would be great. My first big bike was a 2004 R850R and even that had the paralever front end. It was a bit underpowered but the handling was excellent.
End of what? And by whom? The R1200/1250GS has been the bestselling motorcycle over 125cc for a long time. The S1000RR seems to do ok too. I guess it’s one of those opinion things rather that a fact.

I’ve had four. One had a snapped cam chain which made a bit of a mess and BMW replaced the engine on goodwill even though it was out of warranty.
