    I was 10 years old attending Gander Academy on 9/11. I remember the panic and the scared adults. I remember the all the food and all the people walking around. Very fitting to see CFA in Gander :)

    Also, in addition to the Come From Away stuff, the museum in the International terminal is amazing with all the history. You have pictures of Fidel Castro sledding, the role Gander played in political defections, and all the glitz and glamour of the celebrities. It's just crazy how much history is represented.

      I presume he meant passing the imaginary frontier that exists in all international airports --- even though you've landed, only after you've presented your credentials, are you are allowed to "enter" the country, officially.

    Hey Mickey! Some tea about Montreal, from someone who lived there growing up:
    1. The Montreal Jazz Festival is a standard in town, and has been around since the 1980s. Some of the previous winners of the some of the awards include Aretha Franklin, Harry Connick Junior, Diana Krall, and Tony Bennett, and I believe Laufey won an award this year!
    2. Regarding whether musicals are in French or not: It depends. Every title/advertisement/ shop name basically has to be understandable in English and French in Montreal, otherwise, there are literal French Language Police that will fine you in order to keep the French language intact in such an Anglophone part of the world (Although sometimes even the Francophones roll their eyes- I remember there was a snafu a couple of years ago where a very much Francophone-run shop was referring to "Mac and cheese" on their menu as "Mac and cheese," and the owner was on the news and basically was saying sarcastically that even his grandfather referred to it in its English name, because it's an English/American type of food).
    3. That being said, the lady starring in Waitress, Marie-Eve Janvier, is also famous for singing both pop and vintage-style standards she sings with her life partner- she had a great French-language Christmas album ("Noël à deux") that I loved to listen to when I was there around Christmastime. So I'm assuming it might be fully French!
    Happy you had fun and was able to experience some of the culture, and hope you're able to come back when you have some more time!

    • @AllycatlovesAG
      @AllycatlovesAG 24 дня назад

      The Waitress production in Montreal is fully french! I think its a French replica production from the advertising. I wanted to watch it when I went to Montreal in May (Never watched a musical in French before) but I missed the opening by a few weeks. I believe after Montreal it will be playing in Quebec City for a bit.

    I was surprised how much I cried as you were touring the airport and other CFA spots! Thank you soooo much for doing this! My 3 favorite videos of yours (I love them all of course but I have to have some favorites! This will be right up there with your review of SUFFS and RIDE!! I know I will be watching this many times!🥰 Also, how appropriate for Petrina, a New Foundlander, to play Beverly on her home ground! I am sure she enjoyed it! A little Factoid, Astrid Van Wieren and Sharon Wheatly starred in a comedy play written by Sharon based on her book, "Drive" that played in Gander. It was also directed by Petrina! So excited to hear about Toronto and the review of CFA!🤩😍🥰

    This was absolutely delightful! What a dream to walk around and see all the sights.
    I just saw a production of Come from Away in Argentina last month and it was fantastic! One of my favorite shows I've had the chance to see in the theatre. I took my mom, who's not a musicals person, and she loved it so much she still talks about it!

    Brilliant video! Teared up a little at Laura’s tree as it was I, along with Lydia and Charlotte, who planted the tree last year. We had a small unveiling ceremony, attended by David Hein, Michael Rubinoff and a few of the Ganderites.
    I love Gander as the place and the people are amazing. I’d highly recommend it as a place to visit if anyone is in two minds.
    FYI, Halifax is the closest connecting airport to Gander and staying there overnight is a must, as you arrive in Gander around lunchtime feeling completely refreshed. 💙💛

    Im so happy Come From Away is coming back to Toronto. The pandemic for sure was the main, possibly only, reason it had to close. Im pretty sure some of the cast are back in the show as well so that'll be fun.

    Regarding your stay in Montreal: yes, Waitress and Tootsie are both currently presented in French. There has been a growing interest in musicals in Montreal since the early or mid-2000s. Presenting French content has always been a sensitive topic and something that people feel strongly about in Quebec, so French versions started popping up. Plays and musicals are all touring companies in Quebec. That's how shows can get their investment back and turn a profit. The longest runs in Montreal last 7-8 weeks and they aren't common. Tours can last two years but at a slow pace. There is no West End or Broadway areas with shows that are running year-round, which is a shame as some productions are brilliant, but they go on having a longer life on the road and allow people from smaller cities to see live theater.

    Aww come back to Montreal another time. ❤️ We have an incredibly active artistic scene. And Waitress was a local adaptation in French with Québécois artists. If you’re interested in musicals in other languages, you should watch Belles Soeurs who just came out in cinemas here. It’s an adaptation of a major play in Québec history. It’s the story of a woman who won a lottery and ask for the help of friends, neighbors and family members. It quickly turns into chaos. Funny and tragic.
