RIP Eddy Coleman... Thanks for the videos

  • @rahubba1

I love how many of the other "handloading" RUclipsr videos like to put their handload room on display with nine, ten or more presses for various calibers, hoards of powder, primers, cases and bullets, in addition to countless other tools and accoutrements. Yet the main difference is that those videos display a mega money shop that is pristine and looks like the gear has hardly been used. What I like about Mr. Coleman's video is just the opposite. You can tell his shop has seen years, and years cranking out thousands upon thousands of rounds by a handloading enthusiast. Keep up the good work sir, and "Keep your powder dry!"

Rodney Ayala im sure i can answer this for you by saying all of them . Every manufacturer makes a book and if you can pick up all of them thats great . Read them all back to front . Id suggest starting with reloading 123. Speer , hornady , lyman, rcbs , sierra, hogdon, all make reloading books some people have favorites that are go to's but as many as you can afford is a good choice . Happy reloading and be safe

That's some real good, sound basic common sense coming from a veteran reloading professional, thank you so much for sharing that information Mr. Coleman, there are a lot of things you just don't pick up from books although books are a genuine source of information - there is no substitute for experience, I thank you Sir.

I only buy mil surplus Ammo cans. To ensure a tight seal, I take an empty Ammo can and light a candle inside, lock it down and let it burn the air out. When you go to open it, if the can is hard to open and sucks air in on opening - indicating an airtight seal - it’s a keeper. If any surface rust, I scrub the rust off with a wire brush and spray paint the can with black hammer tone, which is a nice look.

I am amazed. You have so many presses for so many different things. I have one press and few dies. A few powders. A few calibers to reload. So my organization is easy. You really have it down on the organization.

I most certainly admire your workshop and might only wish that I had that much available space. Being a long time brass scrounger who reloads several calibers (primarily handgun), I know it is an ongoing challenge to "rat hole" away cases, bullets, powder, primers, a multitude of dies and sundry tools, gun cleaning equipment, reference books, etc., etc. Keep up the good work!!!

Thanks for sharing ,Eddy. I was born and raised just North of you in Mt Pleasant. I now live just North of Seattle, Wa.
I got into reloading about 6 yrs ago, and love it. Now loading 9mm,.40,.45, .45Colt,.44mag,and.223. I have a few ammo boxes bought from Cabela's, but I'm going to look around at gun shows and military surplus stores for metal ammo boxes. Seems like the best idea.
Great looking shop you have, can tell you've been doing this a long time. Keep loading ,keep America strong.

Looking at all those ammo cans reminded me of something that happened this past autumn. Up at my camp property in Maine I had stored away eight 50 cal ammo cans filled with reloaded 9mm and 38 special. I like to shoot a lot when I go up there. Well this past autumn when I went to the camp I discovered that my trailer was broken into. They stole everything including my ammo. I was shocked. Those 50 cal ammo cans alone cost over $15 each.

    Good video.
At 4:55. You talk about trim lengths. Handgun ammo rarely stretches. I have NEVER trimmed handgun ammo, and I don't even measure the cases. I don't load any high pressure rounds. I do measure overall length on finished rounds, and make sure they drop freely in and out of the barrel before shooting.

Impressive to say the least. My modest reloading effort pales in comparison and I wished I had been able to afford a bunch more components (namely SPprimers which I have run out of) but I have an adequate amount of reloaded ammunition to last me for a while with moderate range time. With the bleak political outlook concerning fire arms, ammunition and components I may have to lessen that range time to conserve ammunition if not face outright confiscation. I have deleted all my firearm related videos and my facebook pages as a precaution as well. I wish you well and ALL fire arm enthusiasts in what is shaping up to be the fight of our lives to preserve our 1st and 2nd ammendment.

one tip, ask around your living area who have friends getting out of reloading for various reasons. sometimes widows ask friends to sell there mates reloading items and I like to purchase from people who you can help by taking these reloading items for your use and be sure to give them a fair price to them and not taking advantage of their situation. A fair price is what you are willing to give and what they are willing to take. above all be honest, you will be talked about and it should always be good. Eddy

Eddie? Is that really you? My long lost brother! Boy oh boy i love the way you organize your products of fun and what little spare time you may have too too actually go shooting. All kidding aside i love what you do Ed. I am just thinking about starting to get into reloading. I am 74 but i am trying to figure out what company makes the best reloaders? Is it Lee? Is it Lyman? Is it RCB?
Is it Dillon? The only reloading i want too do is 308, 7.62x51, 223, 44mag,45. I love to shoot automatic pistols, AR 223, M1A, 30/30, Henry 44mag. These are the guns i enjoy too shoot. I have land so i csn shoot every day. So Eddie i would like to see what you would highly recommend as a best preforming reloader that would be a progressive and that will do the pistol reloads as well as the rifle reloads. I know i would have to have different dies for some. But its the reloader i cannot decide on cause seems everyone has a few problems with all the manufacturers of reloaders. I sure would appreciate any and all information you may have for me in this area.

WOW!!! Gotta love it if you reload, But one thing I keep with my little(little now) reload setup is a small "fire extinguisher" I didn't see one in your rather man castle reloading chamber...and I keep my powder in the ammo and rifle safes - best to be safe then sorry, Had my neighbors house burn up a few years back and that was scary...I sure hope you neighborhood has an evacuation plan if yours ever catches fire. :) i know that took some years and allot of love and money to setup.

I'm fortunate to work in a Marine Corps base. I get my ammo cans for free. I only load 5.56, 7.62, and 9mm. so I don't have near the stuff to organize that you do.
