Mr Speaker you took waaayy too long to tell her to shut up! and then you punish Seymour so I dont get to hear the rest of his speech! Do your job mate or bugger off!
Hi ACT party, my colleagues and I are ACT voters and union members taking industrial action due to illegal actions taken by the NZDF. Such as refusing to come to the negotiation table. My union reps are trying to get them to the table to talk, but the NZDF constantly acts in bad faith. A 10% deduction would reinforce the NZDF's bad faith and illegal practices by putting pressure on union members to stop action, or leave the union. If one side of the table is acting in bad faith which can be clearly demonstrated in this case as the NZDF, then they should be forced to pay 10% MORE to incentivise the NZDF coming to the table which is a legal right of the employees. SO if the employees act in bad faith, they get a 10% deduction, if the employer acts in bad faith, then they should pay 10% more, this is the only way to achieve your goal as stated as bringing sides to the negotiation table.
Supply chain contribution resulting in higher productivity will result in a lower cost of living for everyone. If everyone works fairly and in good faith it works if the balance is demented it breaks down. Wow that was a straight up sit down. Theyre the rules?
Epic! I love you and your contribution to the overall conversation! Brownlee is #1 greatest speaker. All speakers who disagree with my politics are poo! Just saying 😮
So what you're saying is big business can shaft the average worker making them work outside of agreed rules and regulations and when the worker holds the overseas corporates accountable the worker gets fined sure david lol
No they don't get paid while on strike. This bill allows employers to deduct up to 10% of an employees wages if they strike, or partial strike (which work-to-ruke is considered a partial strike). Work to rule should not be considered strike action as you are employed to conduct duties specifically and working exactly to your contract is what you as an employee should he doing.
@@sillybear6956 it doesn't say anything about work to rule being considered a strike. the examples given are when you are literally not doing parts of your agreed contract. e.g. teachers not teaching classes, nurses not working a full day not completing procedures. you are making stuff up.

Why do we have made up words of this foreign language scrolling across our screens? Who makes up these words and why are we putting up with this rubbish?
Hypothetically, could a large organisation not have a fund from which they shoulder the loss from a shutdown. This in combination with the fact that they won't be forced to pay the workers under this bill would mean that they could effectively just wait out a strike without negotiating. Most large organisations will be able to shoulder the short term loss for the long term gain, whereas most individual employees struggle to make it on their salary. I think there should be slightly more balance in this matter than a blanket "no work no pay". You need to consider whether the employer is actually engaging in negotiations, the employers offer vs inflation, overall profitability (the reverse could be true for small businesses where the strike could sink the business), as well as the market rate vs employers rate. If you factor these in, then there is some nuance and an approved and organised strike should be paid time. Either extreme seems like it risks unfairness to either the individual or the business...
Dismantle unions, ban union membership. Mandate that it is illegal to strike and/or protest. Strike or protest and you automatically lose your job without notice and no cause for unfair dismissal case
@@timothy4229 Even with the measures I suggest you would still have it better than some other countries. I lived in UAAE for a while. No strikes, no protests, but no freedom as they would take your passport off you, you had to get permission to leave the country when on holidays abd needed clearance approval from your employer before you could get another job. Now that is employer control over your life and movements. Employers would conform when they get a bad reputation and no-one wants to work for them. A public register could be established to report employers that could be checked by potential employees. There is too much negative emotional energy involved in striking. Just move on to an employer who values you more and treats you the way you deserve. IF a personal relationship was not working for you, you would leave that so what is the difference ?

They are vital to giving people a voice against business taking advantage of them.. just look how jeff bezos treats his workers then wonder why he hates unions

New Zealand citizens get first choice of getting a job so don't send or bring in others from different countries to take ow jobs away
In principle I agree but, we pay good, we want good workers with skills. Many Kiwis are slow.
Act would remove your right to strike if they could.. nearly all their bills favour big business, have a look for yourself
@@GoodGameFyou you raise very good points. There needs to be a balance in power between negotiating Parties.
I think they should only be able to deduct pay if the employer is actively meeting to resolve the issue.
So squawking is allowed. ...while someone is speaking.. and You are not allowed to have an opinion back😮
Just have emergency fund and move on from crappy organisations
Supply chain contribution resulting in higher productivity will result in a lower cost of living for everyone. If everyone works fairly and in good faith it works if the balance is demented it breaks down. Wow that was a straight up sit down. Theyre the rules?
Mr Seymour was just doing his job, the speaker of the house was being an ass. Just saying😮
Epic! I love you and your contribution to the overall conversation! Brownlee is #1 greatest speaker. All speakers who disagree with my politics are poo! Just saying 😮
@detectiverogers5766 Mr Brownlee was not the speaker of the house at that meeting
@@rayallan8481Yes. A very smart observation! Brownlee was not there. Gold star for you ⭐This is why our team wins, because we are geniuses!
So what you're saying is big business can shaft the average worker making them work outside of agreed rules and regulations and when the worker holds the overseas corporates accountable the worker gets fined sure david lol
Wait so if i as an taxpayer (who isnt a civil servant) go on strike can i be paid?
At companies discretion but usually not
Do people get paid while on strike? Wtf?!!
@@carl3941 he literally gave 2 examples of NZ Rail in Wellington and NZDF both implementing work to rule and it is classed as partial strike action
@@sillybear6956 much appreciated, thank you.
Eamon O'Connor is a Labour Party member on an ego trip, ex copper?
Yes
Perhaps the Speaker should be quicker off the mark??
Mr Speaker your a knob, Mr Seymour you have 1 month left to explain to the 40% of this country who are undecided, want to know more about your treaty principals bill, tick tok my man
If you've read it and you need someone to 'explain' it too you then Public submissions are not for you. It's one of the most plainly worded simple bills ever to go through parliament.
@@Forgetaboudit4487 Mate i read and submitted my comments first day it was available i'm talking about latest poll results from yesterday 38% want to know more info we need to get the facts out for all to see and understand so they can register their support or not LOL
Yes, he needs to get it onto tick tok pronto
@@Brian-bf1kn maybe we could suggest it to act cause thats a huge chunk of the country that whats to know more, is undecided at this current time.
@@kevinlane5744Hi, 1News designed their poll to be answered in a way they wanted. So David Seymour has to act accordingly via alternative non MSM

😂😂😂
The bad side of Act IMO
Speaker another weak link.
An epic observation! Brownlee is #1 greatest speaker. Mass is a critical consideration when choosing a new speaker, and this man is much too skinny!

He is great but his policies do not go anywhere near far enough
Dismantle unions, ban union membership. Mandate that it is illegal to strike and/or protest. Strike or protest and you automatically lose your job without notice and no cause for unfair dismissal case
I think that is what David would like to do, alot of his voters haven't realised yet.. it wouldn't be popular
What systems do you propose to prevent tyrannical employers/industries then?
So epic! As a fellow ACT-fan and undereducated basement-dweller, I too agree with this wholeheartedly and uncritically. This is such an obvious no-brainer solution, that I don't understand why within the entirety of human history we haven't tried no unions? The same should apply to list members of parlement.and all members of parlement who are not on over seas etc business.members of parlement who just don't want to turn up and still expecting pay well they are so wrong ie Maori party Waka jumping MP's etc.
Nonsense, straight from the mouth of big business wanting no opposition to fair working conditions. Unions are responsible for among other things, 40hr weeks, holiday pay, maternity leave, sick leave, basically everything you take for granted. They are vital to giving people a voice against business taking advantage of them.. just look how jeff bezos treats his workers then wonder why he hates unions
You do have unions that also overstep and actual harm productivity and have caused business to shift production overseas. It is a question of balance and fairness.
@@chrissolutionsa balance has to be struck correct, a strike is usually a good sign that balance hasnt been struck.
Id you cant give workers reasonable conditions you shouldnt be in business. Nobody wants to strike, its a last resort
