    The next day, "Family Feud" and "Trivia Trap" aired as normal on ABC. ABC would pre-empt both programs on January 21, 1985.

    Vahan, I think you got the 2 dates mixed up, both this one and Family Feud were pre-empted on New Year's Day but were aired as usual on January 21, 1985. You were thinking of all of NBC's programming were pre-empted on January 21, 1985 and I think TPIR was pre-empted that day too.

      No, I'm right. Both games aired as normal on New Year's Day, and were preempted on January 21. NBC covered the second inauguration of president Ronald Reagan from 10 am to 4 pm, while CBS and ABC covered it from 11 am to 4 pm. I'll prove it to you right now:
