Interesting video, to which I would add: Connor Roy was interested in politics from a very young age.
Indeed he was
And the fact that that hug was improvised by the Roy kids makes it 10x better! They really gave a masterful class of acting!
They’re SO GOOD
I expected succession to be more of a comedy when I first started, and now I think of it in the same category as breaking bad where yes you might laugh every other episode or so but the amazing acting, direction and writing makes for a thrilling experience and emotionally intense scenes, overall 9/10 show imo
True! And even the comedy is just brilliantly added and it doesn’t feel cheap
@@cinemoni yeah my favourite comedy moment so far has been when Roman accidentally sends a nude to Logan
im interested in why 9? its super high but for me its literally perfect
@@vulee100 breaking bad is a 10 for me so I just compared it to that
@@abdullah-_-. im one of the few that dosent like bb at all, don't take it personaly or get mad its just not it for me.And i don't think there is or was a series that is a 10 other than succession
Kendall (Jeremy) was apparently not told where Shiv (Sarah) was on the boat so when he goes looking for her it's absolutely natural acting of him searching amidst the chaos for his sister 😭
Oh god😭😭
You're the first person to mention Marsha. I'm so glad someone finally mentioned Marsha
For like 80% of the episode i was on edge and couldnt believe this was true. I also was amazed at how the show and its characters makes us feel that a scene like this falls into the category of MAYBE being a whole act. Oof!
I know right it was so smart of them to do it this way. I personally felt exactly like Roman- denying it until there’s actual confirmation that he’s gone 😶
5:34 I think Kendall making the point of saying they were not estranged was not delusion but a calculated maneuver. The point was to establish a narrative that they were still close, because it likens the odds that the Roy children will end up in power after the transition.
I've been subscribed for a few months now and I was literally in the middle of browsing for reviews of this episode, what a coincidence!! yay!!
That happens to me too once I was watching a schaffrillas productions video and got a notification for a new one while I was watching it
Aw yay!! What did you think of the episode?
@@cinemoni omg amazing all around, definitely in my top 3 succession eps now! The performances were so brilliant that it made me want to go back to doing acting classes lol. I also really appreciated how the writers decided to abruptly change the storyline of the season with logan's death.
This show is just on another level! No other show is even in the same room with the writing, acting and directing.
Definitely. HBO shows in general!
What a great synopsis of a phenomenal episode - so entertaining and so inciteful. Towering performances all around but for me it was Kieran's Roman that took me out. The way he tied to understand, accept, cope all in real-time... was just so moving and believable. His flashes of anger, empathy, denial, etc. had me in tears. Such a thrilling concept - writing, acting, directing, editing, and that musical score.. wow!
One of the best episodes of television. I'm still not over it!!!
Same here!! Can’t wait to see how the season unfolds
My mind keeps bouncing between three things the writers did: 1 that they killed Logan; 2 how they protrayed it; and 3 when they did it. It was all genius. And the director and actors and the entire crew totally fulfilled the Jesse Armstrong's brilliant vision.
Amazing episode , all the siblings actors deserve the Emmys! Great review!
Agree!! It’s gonna be between the actors of succession vs the white lotus vs better call saul 😶
@@cinemoni Better Call Saul I think had his last chance on the past Emmy´s not sure 🙂 also, I wanted to tell you, I love your channel and all your reviews and movie recommendations! Good work! Keep it going! ⭐
Congratulations on a 1000. Can’t wait for your episode 12 review
Thanks for your upload, Monika. We thought that this would be a light, quirky episode full of goofy wedding antics, devoid of any major drama. We were quickly mistaken, and it shows how skillful the writers were at subverting expectations.
Yep.. they really knew what they were doing 🥲 took everyone by surprise
I totally agree that it made us feel like the kids, everything from denial to acceptance and grief. Brilliant TV
I can't keep thinking that, with Logan's death, the showrunners crafted a way to put us the viewers in the same place as the shareholders from Waystar: can both the show and the company survive without its alma mater? Could the kids be enough to keep them in the road?
However, now is when the show really is gonna to start; now everyone, the kids, the board, everyone, are by their own and they will show their true colors...everyone is a Logan now
A few thoughts - I think Connor is going to rise far further than we thought. His prominence is rising slowly and in many ways has become almost likeable.
I think Logan’s security is going to use his leverage (he was looking distraught at the end of the episode.
Greg was clearly unimpressed with Tom’s 10 Greg’s on the plane comment, but I think he will stay true to Tom if only because he’s gone far under Tom!s stewardship.
Great video! I'm probably wrong here but I've got a whole "Kerri the Killer" theory going on here where she gets sweet revenge for her failed TV anchor career. She was pretty upset about it at the end of episode 2
I think she’s gonna come for Greg lol
I didn’t see his death coming, but I saw something big and possibly emotional coming. The kids are always flippant and half interested in most topics, but they kept popping from one idea to another in a way that made me think the selling the company to Matson while Greg and Tom take over narrative was ending. Logan didn’t seem especially invested in business stuff and actually sounded genuine saying he loved his kids. The story in which we were all invested coming into the season just didn’t feel alive or important the first couple episodes. It just seemed like we were going in a new direction. I appreciate this episode review a lot after watching so many reviewers not be able to get past their emotional responses to L dying this week. Nice to hear someone just talk about what happened and not gush about how L died so realistically.
I appreciate it! And yeah Logan seemed very distant. I think it’s because finally all of his kids (except connor lol) were against him. So he felt lonely as we saw during his birthday.
Conor's wedding>the red wedding
Agree although both left me in complete in utter shock 😶
It's funny to me how it's so widely accepted that Logan was "a bad guy". I think it's a matter of perspective. He's a man who broke his own back to give his children a good life and got no gratitude in return. He was human , he was flawed , but he was well intentioned and did a lot of good for the world and for his children. I think that's why you and others cried for him, because in your heart you know somewhere behind the gritty facade there was indeed a huge heart and a unique and amazing human being.
Every character in this show is arguably a bad person but at the same time they have qualities that make them likeable, they have actual human emotions and we understand they’re not bad just because they want to, but because they have been hurt one way or another, the way they were brought up, how they deal with conflicts, relationships, etc. it all gives their actions a purpose. I think it’s the same for Logan. And that’s why Succession is such an incredible show, the characters all have so much depth that they feel like actual humans instead of a stereotype.
To me the Loony Cake was a huge red flag of neglect. Did no one think to feed him?
Yeah it was extremely sad. Connor’s whole childhood is sad :(
Predictions: Connor becomes VP because he’s “in the conversation” and ATN controls the conversation.
Greg takes down the kids, Tom, and Geri…he was the 3rd character introduced to the audience for a reason. He will side with his grandpa Ewan because “nobody wants to be $5 million rich” (according to Tom).
Connor’s Wedding made me feel emotionally drained on a visceral level.
Ohhh you think Greg will come in hot? I hadn’t thought about that but maybe!!
@@cinemoni ohh yeah, people keep forgetting about Logan’s brother Ewan. In episode 1 Greg was quite pushy about getting his board seat. Tom told Greg $5 million is a nightmare.
I love your top! Do you have a link?
it’s from pull & bear! reference number 4558301
I wouldn’t say Kendall was delusional for saying the family wasn’t estranged, I believe he just said that as a political business move to keep their hold over the company strong.
While yes I think that’s true I also think that deep down he could never completely shut away his dad. Jeremy Strong said in an interview that Kendall basically sees Logan as the sun- he’s warmed by it but if he gets too close he might get burned. So I think deep down he never wanted to actually be estranged from him
@@cinemoni that’s true he did love him and that’s why his death tore him up so badly, but he’s also the most practical of the siblings during their grief so knows that on paper at least they were estranged, and that would be bad for them business wise.
Depending on the way you look at it, a strong argument could be made that logan killed himself, if he decided to go to his son's wedding he would most likely be alive, sadly he choose his work above his family, and that closed his fate
Btw!! Super excited to see Connor Vs mencken
Yeah maybe he could’ve been transported to a hospital in time but in case he didn’t then at least he could’ve died surrounded by his children. Just like during his bday he wasn’t surrounded by anyone he cared about cause he always put work before his family /:
@@cinemoni yeah, kinda sad when you stop and think about it😢
I m scared to watch the next (4th) episode now. It's not like Logan was my dad but dude that messed me up
I know!! I cannot wait
Maybe Kendall will die too. Drug OD? I don’t think the writers would let him take over and succeed while still struggling with drug addiction. I don’t see any good coming for the kids. Just wouldn’t fit the patterns of them being delusional idiots.
Shiv was NOT disheveled…look at the wedding… the Roy children were going to be grooms people…she was dressed down on purpose…
I think she probably didn’t care about the wedding that much and did her hair in 2 minutes. We hadn’t seen her hair like that in the show, it’s always been pretty sleek so it was definitely a choice
Logan Roy died on Easter.
Can you do a video on Pizza Tower?
I haven’t seen that!
dunno...it felt like the kids were vamping much of the time......
Kind of a spoiler in the thumbnail...
Just changed it! I thought it was ambiguous enough but I can see how it might draw some conclusions
I really loved your analysis!! I hadn't noticed Shiv's hair, wich is obvious, but somehow hidden. You have a new sub 🫡
Thank you!!🫶🏼
