  • So what exactly is a Solar Technician? To understand that, you first need to understand what solar power is and how it works. Solar power harnesses energy in the form of light and heat from the sun to produce renewable or 'green' energy. Solar technologies use photovoltaic (PV) panels or solar panels to concentrate this solar radiation and convert the sunlight into electrical energy, which can be converted into ready-to-use electricity with the help of inverters or stored in batteries for later use. While a Solar Energy Engineer's work is to design and manufacture solar panels and monitor solar power plants, Solar energy technicians install, repair, and maintain solar energy systems. They take measurements for each solar panel, cut panels to fit, run tests, troubleshoot and solve any problems, and maintain installed solar panels as required. They also meet with clients to explain the installation and maintenance procedure and follow up with them to ensure that their solar power system functions effectively. Solar panels can be installed on the roofs of residences, commercial buildings, and parking garages. Each solar energy project needs the services of several professionals with diverse skills. Some of them may work as assistants to engineers, who are primarily in charge of creating solar energy systems, equipment, and structures. A solar technician may install the system, as well as the domestic solar lighting system, solar water heater, and so on. They might also need to perform some electrical wiring and set up the solar batteries and inverters. A solar technician who installs the solar system is also known as a PV installer. A PV Installer's job not only includes putting solar panels on rooftops, but also doing all of the electrical cablings, installing the solar battery and inverter, and ensuring the supply of solar power.
