Hi Gail, I just got the OXO Good grips Electric kettle for My birthday !!:) I really like it. Did you know that you can switch between F and C by holding the button that you use to ajest the temp
In the past, pour over kettles have been judged adversely if the spout is set too high up the side of the body. Is that still true? For the price, this looks amazing, and I've had great history with Oxo products. Very tempting. Still, a side by side against the Stagg EKG might be nice, especially as the Stagg has the lower set spout. Both kettles seem very stylish and functional, so a volume, speed of heat, ease of use comparison would be great. Is the Stagg any better for the price (at MSRP of course), or is it really preference in the end, that sort of thing. Just a thought...
I just got this and tried it out for the 1st time today. I don't completely understand the timer function...do you reset it every time you fill your cone and replace the kettle on the base or just let it continue throughout the brew process? or only use it while waiting the minute after blooming the grounds? I've been doing pour-over for over 30 years and only recently started getting "fancy" about it. Thanks
Oooh I really like the features on this kettle! I might have to pick one up to be my first gooseneck kettle (and replace my current Cuisinart kettle). On an unrelated note, I heard the outro music and thought "Wait, is Wade trying to cook another pair of dirty buds?
So I just bought the the oxo - but have the fellows on the way. I have a feeling I might not like three of the cons on fellow. Metals part of handle, no silicone on lid and cord is long and obnoxious. Curious, how well has your kettle held up over the years? The fellows that go on the stove look like trash after a period of time as the paint wears away. A lot of this money on this model ekg is about aesthetics (which yes is important). I am just trying to find people’s impressions after owning it for lore than a year. Thanks
problem with keeping temp up on my Kitchen Aid (kettle (non goose neck) is it takes to long to get back to temp and by then I'm pouring more water in the brewer. How quickly does this get water back to 205 after , for. ex. stopping to pour the bloom??
We appreciate how quickly the Oxo operates, warming it's maximum water amount to 202° in about 4 minutes. Additional, the design of their gooseneck features a little lip that gives you even a bit more of control when pouring which we really like. The temperature dial + auto hold are super simple to use and a huge selling point for us. Plus, it's only $79 during our current Black Friday sale, so the price is pretty tough to beat!
I had the Bonavita for a year and it crapped out. Although I loved it, I contacted the company and they wouldn't do ANYTHING to make amends; no discount on a new one, no suggestions on fixing it...nothing. A year is, of course, a fair amount of time. But as a company they really turned me off as it felt like they wouldn't stand behind it. It caused me to look elsewhere at kettles.
Stefan Sigfinnsson yeah unfortunately homes in the US are limited to 110V power supply unlike other locations in the world with 220-240V. We do have 220-240 but it's not common and mostly reserved for things like refrigerator or high-powered electric stove with a huge 3 prongs plug and socket.
Kevin Furniss when you're boiling water in these type of containers I wouldn't fill and heat it any less than half-full. You don't want to do just one cup in there because you can risk the chance of discoloring the steel from Heat. Or the off-chance you forget that it's boiling and then you boil the water straight out to a dry pot and that's bad too.
Seattle Coffee Gear very much so! Great for bringing on holiday too, then you dont got to wait for the rest of the guesthehee just keep it in your room 😊
Temperature is adjusted with the dial. The OXO button also serves as a dial to set the temperature. No presets, but it will hold that last temperature setting.
I just purchased this kettle. I have only used it twice. But I have a few questions. One, is anyone’s knob really sticky? In the sense it takes a lot of effort to increase the degrees? Second I somehow keep getting the timer function not to come up as a option...advice ??
I didn't know about that timing function when you lift the kettle. Very helpful.
I love this woman’s energy
she's just the best
One of the very best electric pour-over kettles in the market for sure.
Gail I got this for my birthday I will try it after watching your video very helpful

Yes please!
How do you shut it off especially if you don't need to use the keep warm feature? Is it difficult to do?
Can this kettle's base interchange with the larger oxo glass body kettle? Want to see water level but also want the wider temp range. What if 🤷♂️
In all of your links, I always get the notice “sorry, that page seems to be missing!”
Watched this, liked it, and went ahead and bought it. Thanks for the review. Bought 2 actually ...
The base of that kettle is gorgeous. I have the brewista, usability is great but it doesn't look so good on my counter. Oxo is so sleek looking

Good review Gail! I would like to see the timer start automatically or have a setting to automatically start when you lift the kettle.
Wish they'd make this available in the UK

Gail, I absolutely adore my Fellow EKG electric kettle! I'd love to see a side by side comparison some time. ;-)

Love you reviews, Gail. I'm heading over to your shop to purchase one of these. Thank you!

GAIL. absolute legend
I was going to order this off your website but it looks like it’s out of stock
Hello, can it do a timer and hold water temp at the same time? Thanks!
Quite liking it
Thanks Gail. Great video! We bought one!
and let me add, I love it! It pairs well with the Rancilio Silvia we bought from SCG (5 yrs ago) to make mornings a little easier.
How does this compare to the Bonavita?

Seattle Coffee Gear Thank you! I appreciate your input! ☺️

Is no kettle able to heat water faster with US electricity ? My 2750w Cuisinart variable temp kettle boils this amount in 2 min.
Stefan Sigfinnsson crusiinart is junk
ok I've had my Cuisinart variable kettle for 5-6 years without a problem
On the other hand I can say that Wilfa is junk. 4 failure products tells it all
Quite liking - liking it 😀👍
What is the minimum amount of water you can add?
Kevin Furniss when you're boiling water in these type of containers I wouldn't fill and heat it any less than half-full. Kevin - how much are you hoping to use?
❤❤❤ so sleek
Isn't it pretty!?
Seattle Coffee Gear very much so! Great for bringing on holiday too, then you dont got to wait for the rest of the guesthehee just keep it in your room 😊
And it will match the rest of my Oxo Coffee gear.
Gail, I love watching your videos! :)
How do you adjust the temperature? Does it have pre-sets or memory?
Sally S u have to change every time. Bah humbug
It will maintain the last temperature setting.
Temperature is adjusted with the dial. The OXO button also serves as a dial to set the temperature. No presets, but it will hold that last temperature setting.
Hello, is the price still $79?
Rose Yang nope. $99

Plastic???
This is the important part. Health. Does it have any plastic in contact with the water??
@@JohnJohnCrusherdid you ever find out?
It’s a freaking water kettle... what’s the big deal. Unless it can transform into a car...
Driving around in a giant container of boiling water sounds stressful though.
