Tester for outboards.... Yes, I nearly guessed before you mentioned what it is. But then, we have made one here from a plastic barrel and wood frame. Not only for testing but washing out salt water with fresh water in barrel. We also have a special pipe attachment that goes over the water intake on the outboard, so we can use a hose pipe and flush the engines with fresh water after we have been at sea. God bless you on your adventures. Looking out for the next quiz question. 😁.
Ahh, cool. I had NO idea what it was for to be honest, I thought it was something to do with rain water at first, for the plants... Then I catually saw a guy using it, and I realised its use 👍
Thanks Bill, really appreciated. I haven’t been to Teignmouth for 63 years !! We lived in North Yorkshire and went there for our summer holidays every year between 1952 and 1960, one year we came twice which was a real treat. We stayed in a private Guest House called ‘Ravensbourne’ off Higher Woodway Road owned by the Rowe family. It was the loveliest house I ever stayed in and I still have fond memories to this day. It is still there, I found it on Google Earth but all the lovely gardens and the small holding behind it are all built on now ! Stan Rowe owned Lendens butchers shop in town and he was a Liberal Councillor. One year we stayed there he was Mayor. The beach area and the Ness don’t seem to have changed much at all in over 60 years and I used to watch ships like the Eems Sun coming in on the high tide, nearly always for China Clay going to Holland. I see you can still hire boats to sail up the Teign and you could get a mackerel fishing trip from that beach on either the Lady Caroline or the White Heather, with Mr Roper. Lovely happy times - no financial crisis, no Putin, no mobile phones or computers ! I must get back before the Grim Reapers visits !! Cheers.
Lovely Memories - Thanks for sharing. I'm in my mid 50s myself, and fully agree that the Beach & Ness areas, haven't changed at all really, since I was a small child. The only problem with the days before computers and phones, is that we didn't have RUclips, so I could never have shared the video - lol - Thanks for joining me on my daily walks, and I hope you get the chance to visit Teignmouth again soon. 👍
Love seeing the tankers come into the port with the Pilot boat, it's amazing how they get in as they are so big, good job I'm not steering it 😂, its making me homesick watching this though but another great video thank you 😊
Yes, I hope to get another large ship some day - Unfortunately, its really down to if I happen to be in the right place at the right time - I know there are shipping charts and such, but what with looking after mum, I only get a limited window to get out and shoot 👍
Hi Bill hope you're well I'm amazed at the size of the vessels going through the small channel into the docks, I was desperate get some photos/videos of a ship docking, I seemed to miss the 3 that were docked when we were on holiday. Enjoyed my virtual stroll around Teignmouth and seeing the ship was a bonus. Best wishes stay safe Jon and Karen
Hi that water container shown at Polly Steps is also used to 'flush out' an Outboard Engine cooling system ; Ideally an Outboard Motor cooling system should be washed out after each time its been used in Salt Water , otherwise a Salt Build up can cause obstruction to the cooling water flow ; very good filming , thanks : enjoyed your Videos
Ahh, OK. Good to know. I just thought the guy I saw using it was fixing it, but that makes sense. I dont have a great deal of experience with boats myself. Glad you are enjoying joining me on my daily walks - Thanks for watching 👍
Do you now what these small ships carry in or out of Teignmouth ? I can even remember Exmouth Harbour vaguely from a holiday in the mid 60s having a number of coasters moored up and I believe there was a rail line into the harbour with a steam engine being used ?
TBH, I'm not sure exactly what comes in or out - I cant get that close at the docks, as its all closed off, and although I have every legal right to film from the public highway, they dont like it...
@@chrisdowning4235 And yet you took the time to watch, comment and then re comment. Ps. I've been to Ilfracombe but I'm too polite to comment about it!

I used to go there with MV NEKTON about 15 years ago. I think our cargo was usually china clay. Nice place to visit.
Cool 👍 Thanks for watching :)

I usually tend to miss them myself. Its because they come in on a REALLY high tide, and I'm not usually out and about at the time 👍

I hope you had a lovely visit with your kids. Tell them hello from Pennsylvania from across the pond. 😃
Thank you, I will 👍
That ship seemed to be going rather fast.....
It certainly seemed to know what it was doing :)
great video long boat lol
Thanks 👍
Teignmouth is so quiet off season
Yes, certainly different from the summer. Thats why I enjoy looking back at my daily videos, as I can watch it change 👍

It's mainly clay that is mined locally. South Devon has some of the best quality clay in the world.
@@nigelheath7048 Thanks - Good to know 👍
Clay plus poppy seeds and constituents of animal feeds. I used to pick them up.
@@aliengrey6052 Thanks - Cheers for letting me know 👍
Its for flushing the saltwater out of your outboard
Yup, I know that now :) You'll hear me correct myself in the video that goes live on the 17th 👍

Quite dull really. Ilfracombe is a charming place.
I like North Devon Devon too. Thanks for watching though anyway 👍
@@BillsPhoneTeignmouth I should have been clearer. The video is dull, not North Devon.
