Seriously dude you just saved my life 5 years after you posted this. My phone would not come back on or go off the spinning wheel just kept going. I tried everything I could find a video on. I what you said I did the power button and the volume down and held those down and it shut off. The Apple came on and sat there for about 20 seconds and now it's working!!. I thought I was going to have to take it to the iPhone store wow. It took me a while to figure out what you said because you didn't show it you just said it fast but it worked thank you thank you!

this happened to my phone but it kept going back and forth from the home screen to the loading screen resting itself over and over again being completely unresponsive to the force reset. I'm not sure what happened but after 2 minutes it just went back to normal. This was all at 2am and I thought a wouldn't have a phone in the midst of a pandemic.
What couse that and did it happen again?
I did the power on/off thing and it’s on a white screen with the apple logo and won’t do anything please help

i know its 2020 but i still have an iPhone 7 and I was trying to look for tutorials all over the place to fix this issue and nothing was working until I saw this, and I was having trouble for a little then I looked through the comments and it sealed the deal and now my phone works again!

This was my first time getting this on my Iphone 6 plus and so i had forgotten about the old tricks like that and the lock and home button worked for me, Thanks alot man.

my problem is it did not stuck but every 5 minutes it shows the black and loading screen and in 5 seconds it return to passcode and the close the running app. help me please...........
hakim amri I’d start by backing up your phone and then doing a reset to factory settings and then restore from back up. If it still does the same thing, maybe visit Apple.

UFelt awm if it show the Apple logo and the loading screen repetitively than that means you have to take it to Apple to fix it. This it what happened to my brother and he had to take it to apple. But if it only shows the loading screen and nothing is happening than I don't know.

xSin it worked for me! You have to press the open button, turn off button, then the button you use to lower your your volume. Keep doing this, then hold down your open or home button, while you hold that button also hold down you turn off button, at that same time hold on your you button you use to lower down your volume. If the loading sign isn't there anymore, then hold down your turn off button. I hope this helped

Thanks for mentioning how one used to be able to shut down an iphone by holding down power and home buttons together. That did it for my 6s plus.
