The causes of the cold war did strike a rift between the east and the west. It is considered still to this day the most horrific war in history along with the world wars that we have had in the past. This info of history speaks for itself. Thank you for sharing this important piece of history.

Sir, America left Philippines to help the allied forces in Europe. They let the Philippines get devoured by the Japanese but the Filipinos put up a long lasting fight(Battle of Bataan). Our ancestors saved the countries in the southern part of Asia (Indonesia, Australia, Malaysia etc.) from the Japanese invasion.
They won against the Japanese because of the remaining Filipino guerrillas. Pinpointing the Japanese camps for American air strikes, which gave them a swift victory.

By the way, the Soviets did it to themselves. Or rather, Stalin did it to them by agreeing to the Nazi-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact. Stalin served as Hitler's enabler for his little war of aggression first with the secret clause on the division of Poland and also by supplying Hitler's war machine for nearly two years, right up until the very day the Nazis invaded. Stalin refused to believe that the Nazis had invaded and cost countless lives with his dawdling, not to mention the pre-war purges.

U.S. struck into WW1,WW2 and Korean War or even Vietnamese War and their principle policy of "Monroe Doctrine" has drastically changed into Hegemonism. Wars created American's militarist influence in the world issue and Wars promoted U.S. Economic supremacy.
Stalin had already known that Mao had allied with President Truman under-the-table deal, it because Mao agreed give up Hong Kong and Taiwan. Stalin opposed Korean War, as U.S. could destroy him with atomic bombs at anytime at any case.

@pupRu33 Because the United States was still ALLIES with the Soviet Union in 1945. By 1945, the U.S. and the Allies had just won WWII and its armed forces were exhausted. A war with the USSR in 1945, or any year for that matter, was just pure madness.

Finally, Stalin obviously didn't prepare too well for the invasion. He kept supplying Hitler with oil and wheat almost up to the moment of the invasion, he ignored repeated warnings from even his own intelligence services (not to mention foreign ones as well), the Red Army was scattered and unprepared (not even being on high alert), and Stalin refused to believe that Hitler had indeed invaded for several critical hours after the invasion commenced. And this seems like a SMART individual to you?

@insanitizer Stalin wasn't an idiot. His plan was to make the war possible, by supplying Hitler, providing ground to train his forces (German Panzer leaders were training in Kazan, Luftwaffe pilots were training in Lipetsk, and many more), than, when the war between Hitler and the West would exhaust both sides, he wanted to strike. But he didn't predict, that Hitler would attack Soviet Union, the biggest source of Third Reich resources. Red Army was preparing to invade Germany at least in 1942'.

    2. But in terms of heavy lifting for the entire war the US did the most. The US was fighting Germany while simultaneously fighting Japan and provided greater economic support to the allied cause than any other country

When people talk about how the world is more dangerous now than it was because we had these terrorists running around, my reply is, you know, a terrorist is like a buzzing mosquito. About 15 years ago, there was a great, big vampire bat; that's several orders of magnitude different from a mosquito. So the world is much safer - a lot safer than it was. It's not perfectly safe, but it's a heck of a lot safer than it was.

Truman and Eisenhover were so afraid of communism and wanted to stop its spread at costs to the point where they created a policy of preventive strikes and regime manipulation all over the world that sparked the cold war more than anything Russians did.
