After visiting Ceský Krumlov, České Budějovice was actually a disappointment to us. Maybe expectations were too high, travel guides rated it higher than Ceský Krumlov...
@@sanne_vd Budejovice is a nice city, but Kromlov is something entirely different, a fairy-tale village. There is more in the city of course, but in Krumlov the whole village is a gem and easy to take in during a short visit.
The hole in one was impressive but I was more impressed that you ran 115m so fast! Great video, definitely a city I want to check out on my next trip to Czechia

Oh my gosh! I’m so happy to find this! I’ve traced my 8th great grandparents (1660’s) and many generations forward (until immigration to USA) to this city or villages very near. Thank you! I hope to visit next year.
The Masne Kramy was my regular Restaurant until the Big Flood in 2002. After that it was unfortunately closed for many Years. I still have a few nice Photos from back then, with Beer and Knuckles (Pečené vepřové koleno), at Masne Krami

We stayed in CB in a hotel (actually Hotel Zvon) overlooking the square on our first bicycling tour of the country in 2015. We were quite captivated by the city and the square.
I recommend you to go! We visited last year, Budejce is a gem! And with C. Krumlov and Holasovice you have 2 UNESCO world heritage sites nearby (30min car ride). Hlubovka castle was an one hour bike ride away.

Lovely town, I have been there several times. But you missed the best place to visit - the Budvar brewery (pivovar) tour - not to be missed. But what really upsets me is that Budvar beer in England costs x10 the price than it does in Czechia. 🙁 🍻
If it doesnt deliver, Hluboká nad Vltavou chateaux is just 7 kilometers, connected with bikepath. Nearby is also Český Krumlov, I reccomend taking a train there. Local specialty are sweetwater fish. Just dont order carp, those are eww no matter how good the cook is.

Wow, is this even Honest Guide? This edit and just the overall presentation of the video blew me away. You guys have really stepped up your game! I literally couldn't take my eyes off of the video. And I even live in České Budějovice so it wasn't even anything really new for me. I've gotta say that this RUclips channel is better with every video. This could literally be a Netflix show.
Liberec is worth visiting. Beautiful old city center - but Jested transmission tower is the star of the show. There is a hotel in the tower and it’s not too bad priced.
It so reminds me of Riga in Latvia which is where my wife is from.. I so miss going there and the food, which looks similar to Czech food :) .. and it’s never too early for a beer ;)

I have to agree that it is a beautiful town, I had the pleasure of visiting 20 years ago. I am an American of Czech decent and I love the food and country.
"The guy behind us ordered a small beer at 9:30" pff, we call that "Frühschoppen" in Germany and it consists of a hefty breakfast, most of the time "Weißwurst" and you add a Maß of beer to it and one or two schnapps.... at 7:00am. When I was an apprentice in a metal construction company, the guys had already finished their 6th beer at 9:30. So yeah, alcoholism is not a joke, but hell it's somehow tradition in our countries, right?

I have spent a couple nights in Ceske Budejovice, excellent place. Masne Kramy was an excellent place, use to be the home to the local butchers. There was a road rally in May and this was a good place to view all the classic cars.

We went there but all restaurants need prior reservation. Hence lost out on an opportunity to try Solnice and the other places. Also almost all restaurants are completely booked in evenings.
I was in České Budějovice when transferring trains to go and return from Cesky Krumlov, the train station is so Hussitan it's beautiful. Still, a little spooky at 2 AM
I've been to Budejovice many times, but never come across a Zelnak. I'll have to try them! You mention cafe Datel, but did you go there? Best coffee in town.

I'm allergic to dairy and I always have trouble finding dairy free dishes in Czech Indian restaurants, so if you want vegan, not vegetarian, you might be out of luck there. That said, there usually is one or two vegan restaurants in every mid sized to large town here in Czechia 🙂

CB is near Hluboká castle and Český Krumlov, famous for original Budwaiser and on the Vltava river, the same as Prague.
... and an easy bike ride from CB along good paths by the river!

8 generation would mean 1800 which seems more correct since it’s then the rest of non Western Europe migrated to the Americas

Many (swimming) lakes are called "Baggersee" in German... because they were artificially excavated. So I guess it's the same in South Bohemia! :-)

we call it mostly pískovna which means place where sand is mined and it's mostly flooded later and it becomes lake

I’ve been here. It’s not far from Zirovnice where my family is from. Also Jindrichuv Hradec was pretty nice. I have family there as well.
Putting this town on my list if and when we get the green light to visit Czechia.

I would like to see Mladá Boleslav and Třinec as those are the cities whos teams except from Prague are in the CHL this year.

Sparkling, clean city. Excellent restaurants and shopping. Only thing you left out were the high concentration of sock specialty stores!

I went there twice and visited the original Budweiser Budvar Brewery, also recommended!
Not a fan of Budvar, I put them down with Pilsner Urquell. Staropramen and Praga is way better, so is Bernard, Krusovic and Antonin.

Stayed at hotel Zvon last year and ate on the terrace overlooking the square. great food nice room etc. Beautiful town.

Amazing thanks for this video. I was there in 2014 after a skiing trip in Zelezná Ruda, which is a really nice and affordable place to ski.
