And that is exactly what makes this song timeless... that the fact that you can interpret it any way that you want... I don't see enough musicians enowadays, pouring their guts out and giving actual meaning.
It's run of the mill guitar riffs backing a chain of lyrics composed entirely of a sequence of cliches. Of course you can interpret it in a lot of ways. Newsflash - even the worst of songs can be interpreted many ways...that is as far from being the hallmark of a great song as they are from filling a stadium venue.

I had this as a handme down ripped CD from my brother that I used to play all the time. Discovered it just now and hadn't heard it since 2005 omg memories.
I remember seeing them live at Aquire the Fire in Pittsburgh when I was 15 years old. I now don't participate in organized religion or attend mass religious activities, but I'm really glad these guys big. They deserved it.

Why are Christians so self promoting? Why don't they promote the messages (like switchfoot) instead of Jesus's name. The idea you need to believe in Jesus for salvation is sign of a megalomaniac. If he was truly a humble servant he would not need people to worship him, but the ideas themselves.

Do you think Nicki Minaj was playing the music she makes now as a hobby in her childhood? No, these guys have been playing their music from the time they were children. That's why people listen to and appreciate the music they make because they've worked at it their whole lives. Nicki Minaj is just nice to look at.

Twenty years ago, Switchfoot was "Meant To Live"! This was truly a Rock Classic! It was a great song/video in the Spider-Man 2 movie.
