- I wanted to do a review on my first gold pendant that I got many years ago. I've learned a lot since then about gold in general. This is a typical cheap quality gold pendant. I wanted to talk about the pros and cons of going with a quality pendant over something cheap. Let me know your thoughts in the comment section. Thanks!

I just got a standard Buddha. Solid is definitely the way to go. The pendant, along with the 3mm DC franco feel soo secure. Thrilled with my purchase once again; wouldn’t go anywhere else.

I think you covered this very well, i have 3 dainty solid 10k pendants and the quality is what you expect when you pay only 70 dollars. Gonna upgrade and buy a nice size jacoje piece eventually!

I’m more into sterling silver myself. I have quite a large collection of chains, rings, bracelets and pendants. I prefer silver because you get more weight and size for your money. Also (not being racist) but silver looks better on lighter skin tones (white people) and gold looks better on darker, more olive skin tones (black people, Italians...) I am white so silver is my preferred metal. Also before you comment something about me needing to experience both, I also own a 22ct gold ring which I wear every now and then.

My wife loves her Jacoje standard boss cross ,super solid and polished finish!
I learn a lot from this man and I’ve been messing with jewelry for years and years
However, The polish gets all scratched up on the back if you wear multiple pieces.
Yeah, high polish is overrated. I have one jeweler who likes to leave the back unfinished like a signature style he does. Only the front is polished finish on his custom stuff. To each his own, but I wouldn't necessarily consider a polished back a sign that a pendant is well made.
It’s not if you know gold. If you can’t get a mirror finish (which a lot of jewelers can’t) then you know it’s not of the best quality. There’s many casting and polishing issues that are hidden from low quality. That’s why I say, if a piece is mirror finish consistently then it’s of the highest quality and the jeweler takes pride in what he does.
@@jacoje I think that mirror finish means a lot more to people who don't know how to do it at home. With a super fine grit paper, a Dremel, and polishing compound, I can do that at home, not just with gold, but with steel or titanium. It's the one part of the process I can do myself. You can hide casting issues with a bad finish, true. But, you can also distract from a bland, boring artistic design, by putting a lot of shine on the pieces too. Some designs look better matte or two-toned polished/matte because that's what makes the design pop. I think that mirror feature as a sign of quality is subjective, and you'd have to talk to those jewelers who don't use it, to know why they aren't using it consistently. Maybe they just don't like it as much. Try taking a photo of super shiny stuff, and you can barely make out the design detail. With some texturing of the finish, you can prevent that. Now THAT is high quality to me, when a jeweler can decide what pieces need different finishes to look their very best. Mirror polishing everything in the shop might fool the amateurs who will just think "Wow, shiny, cool." If your script pendant was offered in a blasted finish, I would have chosen that finish instead. To each his own, but I happen to like the sandblast/matte look, and some designs call for it.
I wouldn’t be embarrassed for a guy with a hollow pendant. But I’d be more impressed with a solid one. Everybody’s doing different things. Some people have less on, and more in the bank, haha!
Got my chain in this Saturday, and even though it was just a 2.7mm baby curb the quality was present. Looking to pair it with a boss lady fortuna.

Will pendants ever wear out your chain by the constant friction/contact? i.e., Over time would it scratch the finishes where they touch?

I don’t make religious pendants like that unfortunately and you can’t find them made right. They’re all hollow or super thin.

There are lots of things you can do to make money. With your parents' permission, you can do yard work, like cutting grass to earn money. You could also try to get a paper route in your neighborhood. Let your parents, family and friends know, that when your birthday or Christmas roll around, that your goal is to save up enough money to get your first gold chain. Don't be afraid to start with 10k, because it's more durable, less expensive, and still has value. Be patient, and it will happen for you.
Slowly save up your money from birthdays and Christmas then maybe when you’re 16 you can get a REAL NICE chain. Or just next year.

Hey man, I’m looking at getting a 14k gold chain soon. I was wondering what length is in style right now? I’m 35, so my generation we always had long chains. I had a 24” platinum chain when platinum was big, and I had a 22” 14kt. Gold chain recently. IF&CO. sent me a 20” chain with a pendant I bought, and that seemed to be the style but it’s really small on me. What size do you recommend for a guy who’s 5’8 and 205 pounds? I don’t want to be wearing a choker. No matter how cool that may seem in fashion sense, I can’t be doing that.
Get the 22’ if you feel like the 20’ is too small. I love my 20’ but I have to get a 24’ so I can stack with pendants. If you’re looking for just a solitaire chain then definitely 22’.

IMO pendants definitely look better with rounded chains like the rope or Franco but if it’s a smaller flat curb it should be fine with a lighter pendant.
