Same. Used the iso mat in the marine corps infantry for many nights. A piece of crap at the time but we all loved it. Thinking back, couldn’t have survived without one. Ordered 2 of these to keep in the truck. Versatility of use is amazing with this simple piece of gear
I use the Z-Seat all the time. I use it as a kneeling pad when working on cars, doing stuff on gravel. Etc. love thermarest and I need to invest in the Z-Pad.
Right?!! Too many long nights laying on the cold hard ground wanting to pull up dawn. One MCCRES my poncho liner disappeared, those were some cold nights on Pendelton in Feb, lol that didn't happen twice. Thanks Ivan!
I haven't ever tried the NeoAir Mark. To what you said though, it is a matter of how you treat them. And, I tend to be rough on my stuff. I may take a look at those though. Thanks for watching!
Cool man. I was looking for a confirmation on certain uses. I was thinking the 20" width could be a little too narrow. There is a compromise everywhere I guess.
YOU GOT A MAT IN THE MARINE CORPS?!!! I'm feeling like i'm Old Corps. They didn't even issue me a sleeping bag in Vietnam. But I agree with you about liking my comfort as I'm getting older. I have a therm-a-rest prolife and I'm looking to supplement it with z lite.
@@WildOutdoorLiving Since I posted that last comment I have switched to Klymit sleeping pad. It's extra wide and I like it a lot more then the therm-a-rest.
...im still wondering how you deflated the issue blow up one's.....cant say I've ever encountered a punctured one ever but I guess it does happen...lol you like mentioned that 5x....
Stay away, these things are terrible. Never gotten to sleep once on this thing and replaced it with old shitty foam pads and was much much happier despite the weight difference. Not wide enough at all
Sorry to hear that man. Do you feel it is too thin for you, or is it the width? I haven't had any issues with mine. I do like doubling them up when my kids aren't with me.
It's actually fine as far as thickness. It just isn't wide enough, my shoulders and arms just lay on the cold ass ground when I use it, and my sleeping bag hangs off the sides and as a result, gets damp/cold. It also doesn't lay flat unless there is pressure on it. Wish it was nice cause I spend 40 bucks on it but I'd rather bring just about anything besides this. How they expect a 20" wide pad to keep you and your bag off the cold ground is beyond my understanding, but if they would just make a wider one it'd be a way better pad, regardless of space consumption.
How can you say the R value doesn't matter, it's one of the most important factors of a sleep system. This gave less info than the data sheet, Just a way for you to make a few bucks. Edit: I have Add block for people like you.

"Why do I have the small one?"
LOL
True. Story.
The R-value is really important...
2:14 I literally laughed out loud! :)
It happens... :)
hahaha hilariously honest & relatable review. loved this. keep this up!
The small one is used to cut down on weight, and is called a 3/4 pad.
Or for little people. Called the little pad. But, in fairness, you are correct...
Kit Badger Haha yes I suppose so! Also if you carry a sitpad you just use that to complete the entire sleeping mat. Great video!
Thanks!
Nope, apparently "little people" is considered offensive and demeaning now. We're back to "midget," so it's "the midget pad."
Subscribed. Good stuff. Bikepacking, backpacking, coffee outside seat, and shooting mat. Sounds like some versatility right there. Thanks.
Thanks man, I appreciate it! 👍

Will it be soaked carring in a rain storm?
Right?!! Too many long nights laying on the cold hard ground wanting to pull up dawn. One MCCRES my poncho liner disappeared, those were some cold nights on Pendelton in Feb, lol that didn't happen twice.
Thanks Ivan!
It is amazing how long the night is... :)
Hahah I bought the small one on accident too. Subscribed!
Haha, easy to happen. Thanks for watching and subscribing!
are these thermarest better than the no brand foam pads?
I have done the foam pad thing. I much prefer the NeoAir. I will take my chances. I think the life of the pad depends on how you treat it.
I haven't ever tried the NeoAir Mark. To what you said though, it is a matter of how you treat them. And, I tend to be rough on my stuff. I may take a look at those though. Thanks for watching!
Disagree your airpad WILL break sooner or later.

No free lunch. :)
The R value doesn't matter? Unless your are insulating your house? You are obviously a summer camper.
Regular is too short for me :(
But are they comfortable to sleep on ?
More comfortable than rocks... But you won't find them in a mattress store. :) For reals though, compared to what? I still use them, they work good.
They're not made for comfort, they're made to keep you from freezing to death at night when sleeping on the ground.
thanks for your the review.
Instant flashback when you said Marine Corps iso mat.
Hahaha, some things stick around, forever...

Hahaha, I guess I was lucky. :)
The mats they gave us were hard as a rock but they kept you from freezing 😂.

0:38 Both of them, then I gave up trying to sleep.
I usually double them up. They do pretty good for me.

There is a reason I mentioned it over and over, it is the worst. :)
"I bought it on accident" hhahah!
#truth
Would you say this is a step up at all in terms of comfort when compared to the Usmc iso mat?
I think so, even if for no other reason than it lays flat and doesn't try to constantly curling up on you. :)
Honest. Awesome, I bought it on accident
#truestory
Do you take requests? AC/DC - Squealer ;)
I'll take it into consideration :)
I just went back and looked at my list. (All the songs I used) I used it for a review already. It may come around again at some point though.
...wohoo..double em up...sooo decadent...
The lap of luxury...

nobody actually sleeps on these things
A potentially more accurate statement would be, "Nobody actually sleeps on these things, 'except maybe you'."

Cool Sam!
Total rubbish. Waste of money.
Still using mine, they're going strong. :)
Just paid £50 for one. You keep telling yourself it's rubbish! Strong cope.
