1987 was the toughest year for me personally I was a big volcano sound system fan and when we lost Louie lepkie and Lee Van Cleef tore me apart mentality rip mi Dj’s
Let's not forget Junior Braitwaite from the original WAILERS who was killed in Kingston after his return to Jamaica. He had been living in Chicago, Illinois where he had sang with the New Era Reggae band and introduced Reggae to Chicago at a club called the Wild hare. He was my good friend and I was his manager. RIP Evangelist Roger Mansour
It is so sad that reggae music, arguably the best music in the world, has been blighted by the scourge of violence taking the lives of so many great artists, often at the peak of their artistic powers.
You should do one for Reggae Stars assassinated in the 1990"s. You should have mentioned on the 1980's list Fathead who was killed in 1988 in Miami he used to DJ with Yellowman.
Sometimes I don’t know why we black folk do this to one another. From Africa, to America, to the Caribbean. Wherever our people are, we cannibalize each other.
Pink people NEVER brought us to the Americas they are a minority on the planet which makes it logistically IMPOSSIBLE to move the original and dominant peoples anywhere 🤨
General Echo was indeed a great artist. If he had lived, he would have brought Stereophonic here to London. The first yard sound to come to the UK was Ray Symbolic. I often think how we were robbed of Echo's great talent.
Have we been able to acknowledge and see the common theme and connection with the murders of Black Men who express freedom, justice and Black Liberation?
Lots of talent taken away from people who worked so hard to master their craft. Bob Marley’s drummer’s death 🪘 hit me hard, the people who are closest to us hurt us the most, in his case she killed him.
Greetings Ras D, I ache to hear all these men loosing their lives, Tenor saw, Fat head, Nitty Gritty, Junju from Volcano,Dirts man, Pan head Garnett Silk so much more, bless beloved and keep doing ya thing.
Bob Marley also almost had his life cut down in 1978? His lyrics "how long shall they kill our prophets, while we stand beside and look...", should be pondered upon.
Its so sad do many talented people have lost their lives in the Jamaican music scene. Too much enviousness And corruption.plus the music is wrapped in politics. That why i choose to record in New york and not Kingston and stay alive.
This is why I took exception to Buju Banter Banton's recent put down of Afrobeats , referring to the Nigerian genre as fcukery!!!! Because despite the "conscious lyrics" of reggae music, the ghetto peoples of Jamaica couldn't give a raaass about any of that! Dancehall genre in particular , is very prone to violence!! All these reggae artistes that were unalived violently mostly by people in their own communities!!! Afrobeats has no history or culture of artistes being murdered or being sent to prison for violent crimes!!! Nothing has changed in Jamaica to this day!!! That's why not one of Bob Marley's children live in Jamaica today!!! Banton had better go and record some more "conscious tunes" because his people are not listening!! Afrobeats is fine just where it is ! Peaceful and fun loving!! 👊🏾🇳🇬👊🏾🇳🇬!!!

I’m going to use this as the theme for my radio show on NPR next week, with your blessing.

Nothing to do with the genre. The majority of these deaths were due to the activities of the artist away from the microphone.
You should do one for Reggae Stars assassinated in the 1990"s. You should have mentioned on the 1980's list Fathead who was killed in 1988 in Miami he used to DJ with Yellowman.
Little Harry says that Fathead is still alive
Long live Fathead and the man called Michael Irie

Yeah, his other half killed him and escaped justice but she will never escape guilt
No mention of Clive Bright aka Tenor Saw, who passed on 13th August 1988 😔🙏🏾💐
Damn! All the LEGENDS!!! BIG UP! This is important to discuss but shit...what a downer video!
Best song ❤

This is too much carnage for the Reggae community or any community for that matter!! Rest In Peace Rasta! 🙏🏾
It was a time when reggae was becoming the biggest revolution
Hugh Mundell was a supernova. His star shone brightly but not long enough. All because of some malignant individuals.
One or two artists got caught up in badness but most were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. RIEP to all the legends.
Rest but not forgotten keep resting in Zion
Bang involve inna carlton killing in orange grove

Bob Marley also almost had his life cut down in 1978? His lyrics "how long shall they kill our prophets, while we stand beside and look...", should be pondered upon.
Who give them the right to be killing innocent people. 😢
Junior Reid speaks on that tragic killing of Hugh inna interview. You can hear that he was shook by it.
