Unfortunately, this is not about time not being on our side again. We have simply lost the opportunity by not doing the right things 30 to 40 years ago. It's like a 60 year old man trying to compete in 100 m Olympics with 23 year olds. We do not have the infrastructure necessary to cater for today because these same people and some other Nigerians stole the money in the last 40 years. For example (hypothetical figures), a road that costs $1b 20 years ago now costs $10 to 15b to make. Today, that road may cost just $1b to maintain, but we don't even have such road. So, like I tell my friends, the solution to Naija's problem is simple. God should come down himself (he should not send any angel), put one leg in Lagos and another in Abuja, and do Genesis all over again..... Let there be light, then we will have light. IMF and World Bank are not our problems. We are our own problems - corruption and weak production base and insatiable appetite for the consumption of foreign goods. All the countries in BRICKS are production based countries including South Africa. If go into BRICKS as we are, we will just be like a conductor in YOUNG SHALL GROW bus traveling from Port-Harcourt to Kano. Where do you see a country which import cheese from Lebanon, with all the cows we have and make progress? Lagos alone slaughtered over 200 cows daily but we import shoes from China and Europe. We have 850km of coastline but we import fish - Chinese and other European countries bring their fishing ships, harvest our fish, package them in the ship and re-export the fish back to Nigeria. In Kano, we have Sharanda and Tiga as well as Baganda lake; yet we couldn’t irrigate our land to produce food. The IMF hasn’t anything to do with all these.
