Recently CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale, named The Tamworth Tap as their Champion Pub of Great Britain, so myself and @bambinobecky went along to check it out.

@@RobbieKnox The best for me is Dunphys in Dun Laoghaire a better range of beers than most in Ireland my go to is Sullivan’s red ale though sometimes White Hag Black Pig Irish dry stout is available and that is quite a lovely less bitter stout. The interior is old dark wood, brass, stained glass, styles and carpet, with a bonus for the various bric and brac collected.
Doyles is were I go for O’ Hara’s single stout and it has wooden bench’s and floors and is bit of a spit and sawdust except it is filled with students.
Bar Rua has the lovely flaggy shore oyster stout, JR Mahon’s is a modern day gin palace with lovely red ale and stout. Porterhouse temple bar is great for the three draught stouts and good atmosphere.

As someone who is from the Tamworth area and has since moved, this is very surreal seeing Robbie and Becky in the places I went when I started going to pubs

Ha ha. It's a poster from Pop Recs in Sunderland of my friend Dave who died a little while back. He used to have a 'Still Hate Thatcher' t-shirt he wore all the time.

Me and my mates had his first brew in the pub across the road when he first started. He opened specifically for me the day I got married so we could have a beer before the wedding. He's a top bloke. We go for pub club every Sunday.

Heard the show is ending, what great memories I have though of every saturday morning, waking up to Soccer AM, meet the mates, put a bet on, alcoholic beverages and soccer saturday or watching the Super J's at McDiarmid Park. Saturdays like that were elite.

I'd suggest 'the willam cobbet' in Farnham, Surrey. Its a lovely little pub with great designs inside, nice people, pool tables upstairs, heated areas outside and a tranchular downstairs. All round great pub

Some great establishments there.
Hogarth's and Sir Robert Peel was Tamworth as well, my 2 most used pubs over there.

My local won it a few years back, they said it was the worst thing that happened to them. It pushed all the regulars out with how busy it got, then they had to build them back up after the crowds died down.

@@RobbieKnox Kelham Island Tavern in Sheffield. The owners have since retired, the new owners have kept the pub as great as ever and it appears to have bounced back perfectly fine!

It’s my local pub, and it is pretty much perfect as far as I’m concerned. There’s some other great real ale pubs in Tamworth too

Robbie, were you living in Norwich when Liquid first opened on Prince of Wales? I swear it was the first one of the franchise and voted one of the best clubs in Europe, but I can't believe that's true! If I remember Phats and Small dj'd on the opening night?
