This Rosle garlic press is my favorite! I have had it for 3 years! It is the best in my opinion even if you have to cut the clove in half. I feel like it’s presses well and there isn’t any waste! The Best

I have had one of these presses for over ten years and love it. It is the sturdiest garlic press I have ever owned.

Maybe the one made 10 years ago. It's now made in china. The one I have already broke.

If you understand the physics of the design, you would know it is much more efficient to press than any other press on the market. The design is for the ease of cleaning, hope you would appreciate that.

Most helpful, thanks. Nearly went for the Rosle or the Zyliss, but then I read about paint flaking off the Zyliss. Interesting to see that the Zyliss took a large clove but only just.

I am thinking these must come out in different sizes because I got one that looks like this one but is much larger (about 2004 or thereabouts). I often fit 2-4 cloves of garlic into it at one time. When I first got it I felt it was almost too large for my hand. I have since gotten used to its weight and size. Mine did not come with the "made in China" stickers, and I'm pretty sure it was initially made in Germany and then later got outsourced to China. The alignment on mine is PERFECT and I expect it to last a lifetime. And YES, it is easier to squeeze with this garlic press than any other than the Zyliss in my opinion. (I would have stuck with the Zyliss but was not thrilled with the material it was made of -- aluminum as I remember -- preferring stainless steel.)

P.S. When I got mine this came out in two sizes and I opted for the larger because I'm a garlic lover and figured I would get frustrated with one too small. Looking on the Rosle website they now sell in just one size. I am really happy with the one I have. It has been many years now and it is still like new.

Michele, I see on eBay you can choose a 7.9"or a 9" Rosle. The 9" is more costly, but there are still two sizes. I believe that the rosle 12782 is likely the 7.9 " one, which is less costly. On amazon this can be bought for as little as 27.00 with shipping. I am guessing this one was made to become more economic and more affordable. Here is the one that is larger:

Thanks for the heads up! By the way, I paid $42 for my Rosle many years ago--I'm thinking it was around 10 years ago. Could be that the amount I remember paying included shipping charges though. I never forgot how much it cost because I felt like it was a huge amount to pay but I was so frustrated with every other press I tried. (I liked the Zyliss, but did not like that it was made of aluminum.) I believe I bought it straight from the company, online. I just measured mine. It is 7" in length! Yet it holds 2-3 cloves at one time. Perhaps I got one from when they were still making them in Germany. I have no idea and cannot find any mark on the press to tell me. Oh well. I may never know, but I can say that I know this press will last a lifetime or four and love that it is made of stainless steel...!

I never had a garlic clove too big for my Rosle (although I do not use elephant garlic which has huge cloves). I LOVE my Rosle. I just cannot figure this video at all...

@@WholeBibleBelieverWoman Me neither. This reviewer is not knowledgeable (e.g., regarding manufacturing), and I certainly removed the stickers and cleaned my press before using it.

This one probably got good reviews because the zyliss has a problem with peeling paint. People have been hunting for a great stainless steel press. Aluminum cookware items have also been supposedly linked to alzheimer's. I have been on the hunt for the perfect press for a week now and am afraid of wasting my money on the wrong one. Thanks for the reviews! :)

After seeing the video I must agree regarding the Rösle garlic press. I have the Kuhn Rikon Epicurean garlic press, which in the mechanism and the chamber is identically with the Rösler. Only the handles are different, since the Kuhn Rikon is a single piece which will make it longer lasting.
I must agree a 100% that the mechanism is over engineered.
I must agree a 100% that the handling is difficult due to the flipping "hole plate", it is really a nightmare.
I must agree a 100% that the chamber is a bit too small.
I must agree a 100% that the device is complicated to clean. Never ever let it stay uncleaned. Once it dries up, complete cleaning will be extremely difficult if not impossible.
Also I agree that it is not easier to press garlics with this presser than an ordinary one.
As the reviewer, I cannot understand the high rating either. Neither for this Rösle nor the Kuhn Rikon. It must have something to do with the price and status of the brands? Or possibly group pressure?
Positive things with these two presses, the Rösle and Kuhn Rikon, is that they're 100% stainless steel which is a big plus and should make them last "forever", not to mention "healthier". Plus the "hole plate" itself is quite easy to clean, but the overall rating for cleaning will be dragged to almost zero due to the difficult cleaning of the rest of the mechanism.
My advice would be, AVOID if possible. It looks good in the kitchen just like the Kuhn Rikon, but it is more of a good looking utensil to brag about, than a good and useful garlic press.

+UnNainConnu You mean this one? www.extrafudge.com/ref/amzn.to/1RWaHRa
If so than I ruled out using it since i can see how you can get your skin pinched by the 2 handles. Some reviews confirm that.

+ureviews Yes, that's the one. That's a shame. I know someone how has one, I tried it a few times and it actually works great. My skin never got pinched. With chubby hands I understand how that could happen though. I'll check that pinching next time I can.

You actually sold this Rosle device quite well. The die cast ones are not worthy of mention as you subtly indicated by spending all your time on the stainless steel one. The reasons for the faults that you attempt to explain are so obviously useful and a portion of the design of the device - for cleaning... You should stick to reviewing simpler devices that you may grasp to a greater degree - like a wheelbarrow maybe..

We bought one of the Rosle 12782 the other day - one of the best garlic presses out there. Wife likes it because it cleans up so easily. Thanks for pointing this great product out! Take another look, you might change your mind...more-so after you break another el-cheap-o die cast one.

I totally agree with you. I have used at least 6 different garlic presses in my life and Rosle is the best in every way by far -- and super easy to clean. I cannot fathom someone not liking it.
