- The Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway, or National Expressway 7 (NE-7), is an under construction 258 km (160 mi) long, 4-lane wide access-controlled expressway between the cities of Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka and Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. It will run from Hoskote in Bengaluru Metropolitan Region to Sriperumbudur in Chennai Metropolitan Area. It is planned to allow vehicles to reach 120 km/h (75 mph).This expressway was designated as a National Expressway on 1 January 2021.The total project value is ₹ 17,000 crore.

Both lanes will be occupied by slow trucks moving at 40 KMPH. It should have been atleast 6 lanes. Same mistake as Delhi Amritsar Katra expressway

It is an access controlled *Expressway* not a National Highway! The trucks won't have to worry too much about random people or vehicles entering the road. So, hopefully the trucks will stay in the left lane. This expressway is on relatively flat land. If this was a hilly with ghats like the Mumbai-Pune Expressway then it would be worrying to have 2 lanes. Also, it is designed to be expanded to 8 lanes.

75% work over in Karnataka, Tamilnadu (hoskote to AP border, TN--AP border to Sriperumbudur). Works in AP taken up late due to forest department clearances,now work is going on in Full swing... one can see in Google maps in satellite mode. It's not Greenfield it's brownfield upgrade of old ones that's all
3 lanes are not enough especially with the way trucks hog each lanes and their overtaking one another easily creates disruption in speeds and creates jams

2 lane each way is bit disappointing. It will soon become like (or worse than) NICE road. Can you confirm, the only place STRR and Chennai Bangalore expressway connect is at the Hoskote Clover junction ?. So, somebody who get onto STRR will have to go to Hoskote and take the CB Expressway

Just need to make quality roads under city also...breaking roads 5 times for underground work of cable drainage pipes these all needs to be done at once so quality of roads under city remains great too..we are seeing under smart city roads are dug several times and road becomes poor quality.

Not really. Parts of the road are still unfinished. Accident rates are high. Access from the Bangalore side is very slow.

@@sowmitriswamy6718 Access from bangalore side isnt problem of Dilip Buildcon. Connecting from Expressway entrance (Kombalagudu) to bangalore is job of state govt and city officials. It is connected well to other exterior parts of city by NICE road though. Hope the mysore road (inside city from Kombalagodu to MG Road) finds some alternative as it is jam packed all the time.

Something doesn't make sense to me. How can an expressway connecting two major metro cities in India have only 4 lanes? Does this mean that the traffic demand is not high?
8 lanes in future. 4 now because already two highways exist. Also, halfway between TN and AP, another parallel expressway in plan
Bengaluru and Chennai already have 2 highways connecting them, this here is the third one and the shortest.
Toll plaza directly on the expressway. Thats a perfect bottleneck.

Connecting metropolitan cities is good but what we need is these same kinda roads in rural areas , these same level infrastructure rise in villages and their life style , did you how much farm lands were destroyed for this projects. I'm not against any political parties but against the projects which is affecting the farmland. Even much more developing countries like UK , Russia, Spain , Germany, france connected their metropolitan cities by flights and trains and reduced the price of tickets and saved their farmlands. If these infrastructure took place in any north states like Punjab , haryana, Maharashtra and affected the farmlands ! There will be chaos. This is one of the reasons some parties were not choosed by the south people in their states
All this should have been done years ago, at least we are doing it now.
These expressways or interstate highways promote trade and tourism which will contribute to the economy
